Bending Truth - CO Talk - Time and Money Invested

watched the bending truth video last week - an essential for those asking "why?

" people join, and why people stay.. the co's talk on inspired truth and inspired error made much reference to habakkuk "not be late.".

and then, they actually verbalized the bending truth video, for those wondering about the delay, and what to do.. "think about how much time and money you have already invested in serving jehovah.

why did man go from living 900 years to 90?

i cant recall the scripture, where it says than only a few men will he live to be 80 years or so, can anyone recall that?.

so then im wondering, if it is a fact that men lived long years 900 in some cases, for what reason would god limit our lifespan if our time is so short compared to his?.

how on earth does man go from living 8 and 9 hundred years down to 80 to 100 ?.

Its been a while, forgotten how to post.....I recall an article in the Awake or Watchtower that tried to answer that question. There was a picture of a desk fan. The explanation was something like this: There was a picture of a desk fan. "Before sin and Humans were perfect, they were plugged in directly to God's power" after sinning and being kicked out of the garden, the human race was unplugged. Just like the fan that slows down until it stops, so did human life expectancy drop'.

So, those who lived soon after the infamous fruit theft, lived long lives. the further away we get, the lower life expectancy became.

I did not DA, and I did not go to any JC. They lied to me, and therefore have no authority.

You are not obligated to do anything, except leave. The anger and feelings of fear, regret and pain, it will get better. Just give it some time.

It does seem to be a cobbled together piece of fiction. Ray is getting a raw deal here, and its not fair.

'Lamp' book by Ray Franz???

I was delaying my reply, thinking of what to say, when he phoned. At first we did the Hello's with awkward gaps in conversation.

I then asked.."At this meal, what are we going to speak about? Seriously, you and my B-I-L just about frog marched us off your property, nothing has changed since then.'

He then went into the rehearsed speech about they want to check if we reconsidered not being JW's, we should wait on Jehovah, he will clean the organization. And if there is a problem with the Governing Body, it will be sorted out, just like Ray Franz was kicked out. And here is the kicker, That in 1974, Ray Franz was in charge of the writing committee and he produced a book called 'The Lamp" that claimed that 1975 was an important year and that Armegeddon will be starting! And lots of JW's fell for it and 'fell away!"

At this point my chin hit the floor...WTF??? Have any of you heard of this????

I tried to get a word in, but it was like trying to stop a storming Rhino. How do you converse with someone this unreasonable?? I started to end the conversation, explaining that we are out. We have no desire to go back. At which he said that they (mom &dad) still loves us and the children. That its is because of that love we are being ostracized. Really? "The most un Christian thing I have ever heard of' And those were my last words to him...

Over the weekend it bugged me about this 'Lamp" book. The closest I found was the 'Your Word is a Lamp to my foot' printed 1967. ( link is www.strictlygenteel.co.uk/lamp)

Yesterday, i decided to phone him back. I started with "You could have been in serious trouble if a local JW saw us having a meal together. And I appreciate that you would risk it." And being a little calmer this time, I managed to defend my position, quoting the July 2009 Awake, and the Awake in 1968 /Oct 8, the Masthead on the awakes from 1982 to 95. Rather suprised that I got a coherent argument in. My father then replied he does not remember it like that, I must send him the publications and their dates.

Which I am about to do. However, I still wonder where he got this Ray Franz/Lamp book/1975 thing from.... Any ideas?

after reading coc and isocf i cried, i was in shock, disillusioned, angry, and afraid... anyone wants to share their experience?.

i would like to see what you think about these questions when compared with your account.. why people from different backgrounds feel similar reactions?

(cannot be a conpiracy).

COC was written without hate speech. I would have understood if it was written with loathing towards the BORG. However it was written with care and the love Ray had for his Bethel family was evident in his writing.

My initial reaction was, OK, he sounds like dozens JW's with tales of their ministry and persecution.

And then the realization started hitting home. This 'God directed organization' was nothing of the kind!

It was lies and deceipt and cover ups. When I had finished the book, and i picked up my jaw off the floor, I felt slightly confused. How could I not see all this before?

The guilt thing of abandoning Jehovah's organization, and being a dog 'returning to his vomit' disappeared.

CoC helped me a lot. It put it all in perspective. I was so relieved that e-mailed Ray to say thanks for his courage to write it.
