If you would have won lots of money playing lottery as a JW...
by JH inimagine if you would have won lots of money playing the lottery, while being an active jw, how would you have wiggled your way out of it?.
would you have admitted playing and winning, or invented a story that you inherited lots of money or would you have just moved elsewhere where no one knows you, and you would have lived a very comfortable life still as a jw, or would you have simply quit being a jw?.

There's something to be said about playing the lottery...
The joy when you see your first few numbers come up
The shock when the middle number is yours too
...and then the crushing dissappointment when the rest of the numbers are not yours and you realise that you have won at most, half the cost of your ticket
Ahhh...the highlight of my week!

Home Schooling - Yes or No?

it seems that alot of jw's are into this.. i think there is a time and place for this, ie if you don't have access to a public/private school.. it doesn't seem regulated to me.
my mother home schooled my sister because she couldn't be bothered taking and picking her up from school.

I think there is a time and place for this, ie if you don't have access to a public/private school.
It doesn't seem regulated to me. My mother home schooled my sister because she couldn't be bothered taking and picking her up from school. (5 minutes away!) Interfered with their lifestyle...she said.
As a result, my sister is 16, is illiterate, dumb, has no education (never went to any school), has absolutely no chance of getting a job.
But that's ok...she can go pioneering!

What's there not to like? I have a closet full. I still have my first pair.
And the best thing is...you can always make them fit by lying down on the floor to do the zipper up when they get a tad small.
(That's as long as you don't mind a 'spare tyre' at the top of waistband!!!)

Why are JWs so disrespectful towards war veterans, etc?

this subject came up when my hubby was talking to his brother on the phone a couple months ago.

I dont think it is a lack of respect. I know that soldiers have to be brave and so forth to do what they do, but it doesnt mean you have to support it.
And if these soldiers didn't go to war, you would not have the freedom of speech that you enjoy today.
And as for not supporting war, Jw's are all for supporting and promoting the biggest war in [so called jw] history...Armaggeddon...where millions of innocent people, children and babies will be killed. But this one's ok...

Your View On BREASTFEEDING In Public
by minimus inlast night on the news a woman was told by a store manager that she could not in public breastfeed her child.
she and her husband were quite offended and complained to the company's main offices.
they are now looking into this situation.. what's your opinion?

I was at a congregational picnic, baby #1 was happily suckling away, some clueless single guy friends came over to see the little one. Doug stuck his face down really close. He was very embarrassed when he realized what was happening.

I breasfed all my children for a little while, and always had a blanket handy. Most times people don't have a clue what you are doing. But at KH was the most difficult as everyone else's embarressment at showing some skin, even accidently, made it awkward. Some sisters even offerred their [well meaning?] advice that it should be done in private so as not to offend anyone.
My reply....If you don't wnat to be offended, then don't look...and you go somewhere else!

This subject came up when my hubby was talking to his brother on the phone a couple months ago. We could almost 'hear' (for lack of a better word) his sneer, and the contempt he had for the ones who fought for what we have today. When my hubby pointed out that these ones fought for us to live the way we do today, and if it wasn't for them, we would be living in totally different circumstances, his response...."They are stupid to go to war...what a waste of a life."
I was lost for words.
What can you say to such ignorance?

What Double Standards Exist With Jehovah's Witnesses?
by minimus into be a "good jehovah's witness" you must be able to live by double standards.
you have to know how to play both sides to the middle.
you have to speak and act one way with certain persons and another way with the others.. one example of how witnesses live by double standards:you cannot join the ymca because jws can't involve themselves with religious matters or else be shunned.

They will take advantage of any kind of social services that is offered, yet will not support this country in anything
My thoughts exactly. They refuse to vote, salute flags etc but are the first in line for handouts when the government offers.
