Imagine if you would have won lots of money playing the lottery, while being an active JW, how would you have wiggled your way out of it?

Would you have admitted playing and winning, or invented a story that you inherited lots of money or would you have just moved elsewhere where no one knows you, and you would have lived a very comfortable life still as a JW, or would you have simply quit being a JW?

I am fairly certain that I would have just stopped going. Then again, I was barely legal to win the lottery when I did stop going.

I'm glad I didn't win the lottery during that time. I think things would have gotten very bad.

The folks in the cong. forgive a lot from rich people. It probably wouldn't get mentioned unless/until they figured out that the WT wasn't getting a big chunk.

I was a kid, but if I won, I would have used the opportunity to escape. There are legal ways to claim the lottery w/o letting your name out in public. First move, fast fade. Easy peasy. Of course that is great if you want out and aren't married/parenting an active JW.

Blame it on your "unbelieving" mate. I'd gladly take the rap for that one.

If this is your actual problem, I have the solution.

I will split it with you. I will step forward and say the ticket is mine.

I will give you half the award, and pay all the taxes that the winner has to pay.
I will face the JC that you don't have to face.

    What a guy, huh?

Easy. Just donate a chunk to the "worldwide work". They won't want to lose the golden egg.

There's something to be said about playing the lottery...

The joy when you see your first few numbers come up

The shock when the middle number is yours too

...and then the crushing dissappointment when the rest of the numbers are not yours and you realise that you have won at most, half the cost of your ticket

    Ahhh...the highlight of my week!

I know of an elder that was DF'd after winning big in the lottery.

My hubby had a deal worked out with a friend of his if he won the lottery. There are ways you can claim the winnings without having your name published.
