  ex-JW's in Melbourne?

  hi everyone, i just joined this forum, am starting to go through the stories & info & hoping this will be a good support channel (i have heaps to discuss& vent lol).

  i don't have the energy to go through my life story (yet!

  ), but basically i've left the organisation, which was a gradual yet sudden process.

  New Stupid Assembly Rules

  i have heard on this discussion board numerous rules that apply to upcoming a$$emblies.

  some are designed to stop people from meeting the opposite sex; others, to make sure everyone is always ready to recruit new members into the scam.

  i heard that some km inserts have been urging those whose congregation has cleaning assignments to sit in the section that they are assigned to clean.

  Why wouldn't you be allowed to use the candy vending machines??? Is it because maybe the money going into these machines isn't going into the contribution boxes? Or because they don't get a 'cut' of the profits?

  Do most really abide by these rules??? I know when I went to assemblies, and the hot dog/ice cream vendors were outside, I lined up (along with many others). I don't see what the big deal is.

  Hey...

  I know I can hire the Peters/Nestle ice cream vans, maybe I should park one out the front and make some $$$.

  Hi! I need your views on the excavations at Jericho for my history paper.

  hi all!.

  i have just completed my paper (rough draft) and would like your opinions on the following question before i do my final copy.. to what extent did kathleen kenyons excavations at jericho revolutionise ideas previously held by prehistorians about neolithic society?.

  Carload of jw's shunned us today...and it was priceless!!!

  we were in a carpark and the only space available was next to a carload of witnesses.

  so we parked!

  in it was 3 out of the 5 local elders, and 1 of their wives.

  the owner of the newsstand will most likely still take the mag's just to keep the customer

  She did say that the only reason she gets the mags is that she happenned to find S*** mobile phone!

  I suppose this is their warped idea of a thank you! Endless monthly visits with useless magazines!

  We were in a carpark and the only space available was next to a carload of witnesses. So we parked! In it was 3 out of the 5 local elders, and 1 of their wives. While my hubby sat there eyeballing them, I went into the newsagents to grab a paper...and lo and behold...the wife of one of the other elders was giving the lady behind the counter the latest monthly magazines. She saw me come in, stopped mid conversation and bolted!

  I got a paper, + when I went to pay the magazines were sitting next to the register. Here was my chance to do my good deed for the day! I casually asked if she believed what was written in the magazines. She said there was some good points in them and they made good light reading. So...I ever so tactfully (not!) explained why she should be very careful as the JW's are not all they appear to be. Curiosity must have gotten the better of her 'cause she asked why. So I asked her if she noticed the way S**** left the shop when I entered. She said she thought it was strange that she suddenly stopped mid conversation and said she had to go. Here was my opportunity! So I told her exactly how the witnesses, including close family members, treat ones who choose of their own accord (i.e. my family) not to share their beliefs. She said this surely did not extend to my children, to which I then replied: "Yes, my children's grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins have cut them off completely, because we (me and my hubby) have chosen not to share their beliefs."

  The complete look of disbelief and disgust that crossed her face was priceless! (I would love to be a fly on the wall when S*** takes her next months mags!)

  When I went back to the car, they were gone. My hubby said that they continued to look the other way the whole time they were there, in silence, almost as if they were frozen in time! S*** when she went to get in the car even went around to the opposite side to where she was sitting and made the other 2 in the back seat move across just so she wouldn't have to be near our car!!!

  It made our day that we can affect them to such an extent as to make THEM uncomfortable whilst sitting in their OWN car!!!!
