JWdom "limbo"

i realize how many people are sent to "limbo" of sorts by the wts.

how many jws quit going, inactive, no meetings for "years," wasn't happy with it but are still "stuck" somewhere in between, not active jws, feeling condemned by the organization yet still don't stretch themselves to "read" anything to investigate why the organization didn't work for them.

my brother got a call from an inactive jw, who hasn't gone in years & not in the association of anyone anyway, not happy with jwdom.

People tend to think of cults as an information problem.A doctrinal problem They are missing the point Cults are a family problem,since a cult is an artificial family that seeks to supersede your own and ultimately destroy it

Looking For A New Church

being raised as a jw is a double edged sword.

on one hand, you get a phenominal boot-camp education on the bible, what it means, how to use it in your life (even long after leaving the society).

on the other hand, it makes looking for a new home-church a bit of a challenge.

More like WT doctrine. And based on this doctrine your looking for a church defined by the WT My suggestion find a church that promotes Jesus as the way the truth and the light and not themselves like the WT does Bible knowledge is wasted if it does not lead to putting faith in Jesus

does anyone else find find this title strange "the christ" is follow jesus to churchie for them?

they make such a big deal about using god's personal name jehovah but jesus he's "the christ" probably just me but it sounds weird like follow the title

Actually the phrase "The Christ" is leftover from an old WTS teaching that "The Christ" was made up of Jesus and the 144,000 and consisted of 144,001 members so that the 144,000 were also "Christ."

The best WT elders are

i know some elders want to be real shepherds in the biblical sense and are constantly challenged by wt directions that are cold unloving & self serving and many leave because of this.

such an elder who has his own conscience and is troubled by it does not make the best wt elder.

im looking to name the characteristics that make the best wt elders.

Does eating a rare steak = eating blood?

i always wondered about this when i was still a jw.

i just assumed that it was improper for a jw to eat any meat that wasn't thoroughly cooked, especially steak.

i though everyone could see that the red juice contained blood, which, if eaten, amounted to a violation of the prohibition against eating blood.

Yes it does if your straining out gnats and swallowing Camels. It is not about eating blood but respect for the giver of life You can kill an animal but you can't claim its life That belongs to God. So symbolicly( is that a word ) you achknowledge this by pouring it out on the ground. Blood represents life only when a life is taken that is one reason why the WT ban on transfusions is crap No one has to die to donate blood. If you make blood the focus like the WT does you come up with ridiculous sanctions like the one in a WT question from readers which banned the use of leeches in medical procedures because they eat blood.

How many remember the 1969 8 day convention?

anybody remember the 8 day 1969 international convention.

i was at the braves stadium in atlanta all 8 days with a sunburn and then wet clothes after the rain storms.

if you were there (not necessarily in atlanta) do you remember anything about it?

Melbourne Australia 21 years old What stuck in my mind was being told that Knorr and his crew were staying and eating at one of the most expensive motels in town. Would not have meant anything to me if it were not for the constant boast of the society that everyone at Bethel was treated the same and only got paid a few dollars ( forgot how many) per month Knorr included. Getting the same allowance means nothing when you have such a generous expense account

In bed with a WT clone

i married a jw convert.

looking back it was if she related to me and the kids like we were a duty like she was reading a scrip on how to relate to us.

like her love ( if you can call it that ) depended on how well we performed as witnesses.

Tough, Axeman. It sounds like your lady-love gave herself over entirely to the organization. So yes, you had a paper-wife, whose script and lines you could pull from the latest magazines.

Love the way you put that Ignat. What pisses me off is that despite knowing me personaly she chose to believe what the WT now said I was even looking for reasons to support the WT view. ie: Our son asked her why she split with me She said " I cant live with a man that bashes me " He asked "When did Dad bash you? She changed the subject. Now if she said that to a witness their response would be Oh you poor thing When I told my sister this her response was "But your not a violent man". It is as if she needed to find something anything to justify her WT view that I must be a bad person cause I have rejected their socalled truth. And it went real deep not only did the wife convince herself that I was a threat to her she started to act it out. One night when we were going to bed she said your not going to rape me are you. I thought where the hell did that come from.

To top it off all the time we have been seperated she has been hoping I will come to my senses and return to the witnesses cause her authentic self still had feelings for me I was a witness Was I really this crazy too?
