Learning to Ski ! (time for a mid-year resolution)

so we've been here in calgary for 2 and a half years now, through 3 winters and right near to snow-covered slopes of nakiska, lake louise (sunshine village), banfff, golden (kicking horse), fernie, kimberley and probably others.. how much skiing have we done in that time?

people fly half way round the world to ski here and we haven't bothered driving down the road.

i feel bad ... like a rubbish canadian (we can't ice-skate either!).

Go for it Simon, skiing is fun to learn and as its been already mentioned, renting your skiing equipment

is recommended for the first couple of times, they have boots, bindings, poles everything you need you can rent at the hill.

Do bring sunglasses if its a bright day and warm head gear and gloves of course, an extra pair of socks is a good idea,

to put on after your day of skiing because the ones you wear tend to get sweaty and cold.

A small camera is a good thing to carry with you too, the scenery up the mountains is beautiful.

For those who researched 607...

did you use wt dates as well as things found from a secular perspective?

if a witness was researching the 607 dates strictly from watchtower info, would it still become clear they are wrong?

or does the wtbs *make* the dates add up...?

Slays Jehoiakim.

Nebuchadnezzar's first notable act was the overthrow of the Egyptian army under Necho at the Euphrates in the fourth year of Jehoiakim (Jer. xlvi. 2). It is entirely reasonable to suppose that at the same time he descended upon Palestine and made Jehoiakim his subject (II Kings xxiv. 1). This campaign took place in 605. The next year Nebuchadnezzar became king of Babylon; and he ruled for forty-three years, or until 561. Jehoiakim served him for three years, and then rebelled. He doubtless incited the neighboring tribes (ib. verse 2) to persecute Judah and bring its king to respect his oath. it firmly states that the bible over wheamlingly supports 607 not any other date at all!

and that if any other date eg 587 were to be used, it would make a mockery of the whole bible!.

What is "Present Truth?"

thought i'd share this little bit of 'research' with you all.

i remember sometime back when i was visiting my wife's kh, they sang a song from the song book that contained the words, present truth.

i did a quick search on google to see what people on the internet were saying about this phrase.

Present truth , new light , typical and common wording used to spin and change doctrine as required and seen fit

by propagating cult leaders. As is usually for just about all religious cult leaders, they are said to be aligned with a

great spiritual force from which truth is revealed to these select individuals .

In regards to the " present truth " of the JWS there is a time limiting factor.

To days truth usually turns into tomorrows apostasy.

Who knows maybe down the road they will.

Stretching out this supposed time is a indentured importance to the WTS. concerning their viability of themselves.

They seem to be in this mode already by whats coming out of Brooklyn these days.

Lets face it money making religious charlatans aren't the ones to put an honest and accurate account of

what they say there there to spin facts and sensationalize in an effort to draw attention to their products.

Clearly There Have Been Some Changes Since The 80's!

i'm fascinated by such widespread use of the word apostate in these threads.

has something happened with the term since i began ignoring jw dogma in the 80's ?

it appears a weird turn was taken somewhere in the last 25 years.. such liberal sprinkling of the word must mean one of several things: either the death grip of brooklyn has tightened around followers necks by expanding what an apostate is these days, or many are simply overplaying your card by dousing this most unholy description into everything from watching r rated movies to (jehovah forbid!

Recently being that the head honchos of the WTS. know of the huge amount of information about them and aganst them.

As a counter measure to that, they are getting more vigilant against the said Apostate, there has been a recent directive to not associate

with anyone who was once a JWS and is not one now, even family. Thats how nervous they're getting.
