q 1: where does the bible say god's name is jehovah?

in all probability, the bible that you have does not have the name jehovah in it, anywhere.

we too have a fraternity, a brotherhood, gods family is what we are, and if anyone dishonors the congregation by conduct unbecoming a minister of god, shunning, or disfellowshipping as we call it, is gods means to deal with such ones.. q 7: how can a person isolate themselves if you chose to knock on peoples doors outside your religion?

ah, another humorous thread that i missed up till now. i especially liked this quote from yk, that was proven unequivically incorrect according to the watchtower quotes:

interesting, isnt it, that the watchtower says specifically that no one knows for sure the correct vowels that should be inserted in the yhwh abbreviation? LOL.......note, no response from yk on this point, or any of the others for that matter.

As I understand this thread, YK was answering questions to Danni. Why do you, ALanF, see it necessary to be the translator, or try to explain what YK explained.

number one, if yk was specifically only trying to answer questions to danni, and he didnt want his answers to be open for discussion, then he wouldve contacted her privately instead of posting his claims on a PUBLIC forum, knowing full well his statements would be refuted.

number two, why do you attack alan for sticking his nose in someone elses discussion? isnt that what youve done here as well?

number three, alans clarifications were needed in this instance, especially since danni is apparently new to yks deception game. without seeing the other side of things, one could get caught up in yks scripture twisting web, and we want observers to get the whole story, right? oh i forgot, you are a proponent of the wtbts, and they never want both of the story exposed, do they?

you obviously have a very different view about what it means to be one of "jehovahs witnesses" than most active jws do.......since you do not follow the watchtower 100%, does this mean you also feel you are exempted from mandatory activities such as door-to-door ministry, meeting attendance, etc? you obviously do not think the watchtower is correct 100% of the time, so do you follow the watchtower "rules", such as your conduct, what music you listen to, what movies you see, etc?

I Don't Sympathise With Suicides

let me explain.. firstly i have seen any number of so-called attempted suicides.

i've walked past an old girl friends house, seen her watching tv through the window, by the time i'm knocking on the door she's told me that she had her head in the gas oven and my knock stopped her.. my mother in law walks into the sea for a pastime.

every time she can't get her own way she walks in up to her knees and waits for someone to see her.

a little over six years ago, my brother-in-law called my sister (his wife) and left a message on her machine threatening to kill himself. she never saw him again......he laid down that afternoon under the tailpipe of a running vehicle, garage closed, and thats where they found the body, with his face burned off from the heat of the exhaust.

one never does know. ive been around suicidal people all my life, some very close to me.......ive known people that have went through with it, and ive known countless others that have threatened it. no one knows for sure what a person is thinking, and whether or not the person will actually do what they threaten to do. its a very scary place to be in if you care about this person......which is why it is so selfish to put those that care about you through the emotional wringer. im glad kevin didnt commit suicide, and i hope he doenst get to that point. i also hope he doesnt leave all of his friends hanging again the way he did last night with a false threat.

i agree with you that we dont all understand what kevin is going through, and we probably cant unless weve been there.....which is why i said in my post that i was sure i didnt fully understand what kevin was feeling. i also agree that gentle kindness is probably the best way to talk to someone that really just wants you to listen and understand, and doesnt know how to cope.

the thing that gets me is the way kevin went about it. i have no problem with him talking to those that care, sharing feelings, getting support, recieving love and concern from others......what i have a problem with is the selfish act of threatening suicide and leaving everyone hanging to worry for 24 hours, intentionally. now obviously there is no way for me to disecrn for certain what his specific intentions were; whether or not he fully intended to go through with it that night.....but it seems likely to me that at some point he realized (or he already knew) that he wasnt actually going to commit suicide. he knew full well all the hearts he left hanging, and many times people do this (leave people hanging) intentionally for attention getting purposes. i cannot judge kevins actions with 100% accuacy, because i dont know, but again, this seems likely given the way he went about it. to me, its a selfish and cruel act. then again, suicide itself is a very selfish act.

So when someone enters a chat room and says that they are going to top themself, and then appears next day and robustly denounces those who doubted their sincerity - and posts remarkably lucidly too - I have very strong doubts as to that person needing all that cyber-loving.
IMO, this is mega attention seeking.

i agree, 100%. im probably going to get labeled as cold-hearted for saying this, but i really think the whole thing was nothing more than a publicity stunt of sorts.....a cry for help no doubt, dont get me wrong. i think its unfortunate though, for someone to get a whole group of people so worried that multiple calls to the fbi are made on his behalf, and certain ones probably had sleepless nights worrying over it........and theres a good chance that he never fully intended to do this in the first place.

i can understand his needing help, needing to talk to people. but to say "im killing myself" and then dissapear into thin air is just fucked up. he knew full well what that would do to the people that cared about him.....he knew they would be worried all night, until they heard from him again.....he no doubt thought of these people and what they were wondering that night as he was taking a half bottle of pills.

if you are really serious, and about to commit suicide, and need to cry out for help....call a suicide hotline, they are trained for it. dont hurt a large group of people with your false threat.

again, im sure ill be chastised for this viewpoint as uncaring and cold-hearted......but i really am a caring person, and i can understand those that feel for kevin, and were worried about him, and im sure he has problems that i dont understand......i just think its unfortunate that someone would put so many in that position.

perhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.

as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.

since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

no comment? are you realizing your own obvious contradictions now? i commented on the value of the dollar increasing, and you came back with the answer:

this is a very contradictory argument....did you just say it without thinking? in the past you have said that the flooding of cheap dollars creates hyperinflation.......with inflation comes a shrinking dollar, surely you know this, right? so....if the flooding of dollars causes inflation, and thus a shrinking dollar value, how do you explain your above argument? im sure this isnt a case of you ignoring due to the inability to answer, is it? i suppose i overestimated your financial knowledge, or maybe simply your ability to reason logically. I suppose I should be ashamed for even having dealings with you on this level. LOL.
