Sure, what you described is an option. But we dropped leaflet telling the Iraqis to surrender and they wouldn't be harmed. So, the Iraqis are donig what we told them to do. Seems to be the better option than hiding when you would sure to be found out anyway.
actually there were leaflets dropped for soldiers, and leaflets dropped for civilians. we would never ask the civilians to surrender, as we have no intentions (or resources for that matter) to take them as pows. the civilian leaflets depicted families staying in their homes, sitting around a dinner table...and read something to the affect of "stay in your homes, do not leave, be safe".

it is something beyond any human imagination.... how come and you name a bomb that brings dead to human lifes, like now in iraq, were more than 1000 died and 5000 injured most of them women and children.

if i lived in baghdad, and had a fear that i would be shot on sight by the invaders...guess what i WOULDNT do? run out into the streets as the invaders rolled in! what would be the best course of action if i thought the invaders wanted me dead? hmmm, maybe, stay in my house.?. why would i want to run out in the streets to greet them, increasing my chances of being killed? imo, anyone running to cheer on the u.s. troops are doing it out of excitement....because they know the fear of saddam is coming to an end.

im just wondering, do these same posters still feel this way, with this weeks progress into baghdad?
no doubt there is still more fighting to take place, more lives will be lost, and im not declaring a coalition victory/"all is well" just yet.....but.....it sure doesnt seem to be shaping up as a battle that lasts years, and no victor emerges, does it?

yeah, what if? great question, but i was hoping to get some responses on the actual topic here, which is whether or not the war in IRAQ will turn into another vietnam. maybe you didnt see or participate in all the criticism of the war plan.?. obviously that criticism has been suddenly and swiftly put to rest....wouldnt you agree?
