Why are Canadians envious of Americans?

the whole discussion on "america" made me wonder the above.. by the way the war of 1812 wasn't against canadians but against the brits and won by americans after the battle of new orleans--which inspired one of the funniest lines in folk music, penned by jimmy driftwood and sung by the great johnny horton:.

..."we fired our cannon 'til the barrel melted down.. so we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round.. we filled his head with cannon balls, and powdered his behind.

and when we touched the powder off, the gator lost his mind.".

well, i dont think that canadians are jealous of americans.....and i just want to say right off that i love canada, canadians, and especially my canadian woman. ((((((((((canada))))))))))

its funny, just before i saw this thread i read a comment by simon stating that the united states was jealous of canada.......and here we have the assumption that canadians are jealous of americans.......these types of empty arguments/statements are so ridiculous and fruitless...........surely the authors realize this?

well, i've been paranoid of my own country for a long time, but this just makes me a little more nervous.

now, our neighboring countries must live by america's rules?

i could be reading too much into this, but canada is its own sovereign nation, and they don't have to live by america's rules just because they are our neighbors.

I think the USA is just annoyed because they spend all that money on police and arms and seem to have a society always on the brink and a world against them and there is little Canada ... easy going and everyone's friend.

what a preposterous statement.....yes, the u.s. government is simply jealous that canada has a friendlier standing with the rest of the world! it couldnt have anything to do with the fact that canada is a virtual safe haven for terrorism, which could be a bit dangerous considering canadas location in relation to the u.s, could it?? look at the latest u.s. actions in the world (ahem, iraq), and then tell me how badly the u.s. yearns for friendly relationships with everyone.............do you people actually believe the rubbish you spout? try thinking without an agenda.......

without having to repeat them, i echo hillarys statements on the subject.

I assume that your parents are Jehovah's Witnesses. Therefore, they are my spiritual brother and sister. I will not provide ammo for your use so that you can manipulate them by saying "I know what you're going to say...". That wouldn't be loving on my part.

good point......and especially without a full battery on your cell phone at the very least. i wouldnt go rock climing by myself either, but theres always the 0.000000000000000001 percent chance that an unexpected event could leave you trapped in a similar way.......a plane crash where youre the only survivor, trapped in between a piece of the fuselage and the side of a mountain, for example. of course, hypothetical "what would you do" questions are usually just food for thought, and not intended to actually prepare anyone for the remote possibility that it would ever happen to them.

i saw this on the news this morning....simply amazing. a question for everyone: could you do it? i think id die pinned, unfortunately. i was wondering if they tried to get his arm back for him, possibly re-attach it? or was it too late for that already?

New Speed Limit Enforcer along Interstates in Virgina!

on my way to myrtle beach last week with the family, i drove down the "i 81".

when we past from west virgina and into virgina, i noted the first sign on the interstate.

it said "speed limit enforced by aircraft".

i dont know if that particular pic is doctored (definitely looks like it...isnt part of the left side missing?), but i do know that speed clocking by helicopters is pretty common in some areas.

now, the war is over, the weapons were not used and of course have not been found.. how threatening could they be if they did not even use them when being invaded by a massive force (of the countries they hate)?!

perhaps, as many suspect, they didn't use them because they didn't have them?.

now we're being told that we'll have to be patient and give them time to find them.

finding wmd is a top priority, or we wouldnt be flying in another 1000 experts to join the search. who said it wasnt a top priority? there are many priorties, should we abandon all other priorties (humanitarian aid, policing the cities, conflicts from resistance....yes there is still fighting going on, etc, etc), and have every soldier in the country searching for wmd? that seems a bit preposterous now doesnt it?

bravo for ignoring the bulk of my points once again. ill keep pointing out that you regularly engage in the very antics you accuse other of. here was one of your statements from a past thread:

Unless you have something NEW to contribute then can I suggest we don't have any new topics about the war? The board is supposed to be about JW events and not soley a current affairs subject. If something new happens then fine but please keep things to the existing topics on the subject. Starting new topics on the same subject simply because the debate is not going your way is not on.

i suppose this isnt really a new topic on the same subject though, as the search for wmd hasnt really been brought up on the forum until now.
