Why I May Vote for Kerry

i'm a registered republican but i have to admit that after looking at john kerry's web site, i may have to sway my vote his way.

what caught my eye is kerry's attention toward jobs leaving for overseas countries and how the government can at least stop encouraging (and rewarding)large corporations from doing this.

at bush's site, i don't see anything about this huge problem facing america.

George Bush was openly looking, not for justice or prevention, but at finding a way to tie the attacks into Iraq and therefore justify his long standing wish to take military action against Iraq.

was the president the only one tying iraq to terrorism? heres an interesting quote(bold/italic mine):

"Iraq may not be the war on terror itself, but it is critical to the outcome of the war on terror, and therefore any advance in Iraq is an advance forward in that..." -- John Kerry

then theres this quote, which is slightly off-topic, but i believe its fitting to show it here:

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force - if necessary - to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." -- John Kerry

this is a continuation of a subject which was introduced by thichi, who showed us a brilliant and in-depth report of how the general media shows a heavy liberal bias.

not just a small report or just one viewpoint, but a concerted and unbiased effort toward devising a method of measuring press bias based on the manner how members of congress cite various think tanks in determining which were viewed as conservative or liberal.

this study is extremely credible and unambiguous, unlike the reactions in the previous post by those who who didn?t read the report and just pushed it aside by saying ?would it be biased for the media to quote one report showing one viewpoint if there are hundreds showing the opposite??

Maybe there is nothing worth suing over. Having a different interpretation of the same facts isn't something you can sue over. I'm sure it's pretty difficult to sue someone for taking your words out of context with creative editing

just curious, how can you so adamantly defend michael moores self-proclaimed "op-ed" pieces, and then turn around and lock a thread involving an entirely fact based study (from ucla/stanford no less) simply because you view the study as "propaganda"? this seems to be contradictory.?.

wow, he really gets skewered in that interview. i love how every time he gets backed into a wall by the 9/11 commission findings, he falls back to "its only a preliminary report", as if the final report is going to suddenly back all of his assertions, instead of completely discredit them the way the preliminary report does. hilarious!

special report is second, abc world news tonight is third, and cbs evening is last.

the results of table 8 show that the los angeles times, the new york times, usa today, and cbs evening news are not only liberal, they are closer to the average democrat in congress (who has a score of 74.1) than they are to the median of the whole house (who has a score of 39.0).

special report is significantly closer to the center than all media outlets except the drudge report.

glad to see you back on the subject....we never really finished this bit you keep repeating:

FOX News viewer's misconceptions matched the misconceptions engendered by certain statements by Bush et. al. before the war;

as did CNN viewers misconceptions, along with MSNBC viewers misconceptions.....lets not leave that out.

Viewers of other stations are less likely to believe the Republican War Dance than those of FOX.

you never provided me the specific stats on this. how "less likely" are they, according to the survey you provided?.....and what was the error margin of that particular survey? the only statement i saw on it said that cnn and msnbc viewers were not much better informed. what does this mean exactly?

What is disturbing is the bias towards reporting unfactual statements that echo Bush's party line they sow, over and above other stations, as shown by the viewers misconceptions.

unfortunately for your argument, even though you keep forgetting to add this, cnn and msnbc viewers generally had these exact same "misconceptions", according to the quotes you provided. im curious, how many people were surveyed in that study? are there more stats to back up these "facts" you keep tossing around, or just the one survey?

Do the major media outlets in the U.S. have a liberal bias? Few questions evoke stronger opinions, and we cannot think of a more important question to which objective statistical techniques can lend their service. So far, the debate has largely been one of anecdotes (?How can CBS News be balanced when it calls Steve Forbes? tax plan ?wacky???)

can you debate the statistics of the study instead of avoiding them right off the bat? i find the stats interesting, but i suppose it is much easier to debate with simple conjecture, so dont let me interrupt you.

astana, kazakhstan (reuters) - russian president vladimir putin, in comments sure to help president bush, declared friday that russia knew iraq's saddam hussein had planned terror attacks on u.s. soil and had warned washington.

putin said russian intelligence had been told on several occasions that saddam's special forces were preparing to attack u.s. targets inside and outside the united states.

Fantasy Football League...Interested?

i'm wondering who would be interested in playing in a fantasy football league if i set one up?.

we would have a lottery to see who drafted first....last and of course that would be accomplished online.. there are free versions and some that are better that would cost roughly $10 per person.. no less than 12 - no more than 16 teams would work.. you can respond here or pm me.. we would want football loving people who are serious about losing to my team.

We have action. It goes on for 45 minutes or more UNINTERRUPTED.

if you consider kicking a ball from one side of the field to the other with no actual scoring to be "action", then you definitely have plenty of uninterrupted "action" going on there. soccer is basically hockey minus any of the contact.

actually, my brother-in-law is on a rugby team here in the u.s.....great sport. television coverage is a bit hard to come by around here, but theres no doubt that rugby is about 1000 times more exciting to watch than soccer.
