Heated exchange at 'Fahrenheit'?

Give Fox News Channel star Bill O'Reilly credit for even attending Monday night's lefty celeb-glutted premiere of Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" - even if he walked out of the 110-minute Bush-bashing movie halfway through.

Only last week on his syndicated radio show, O'Reilly likened Moore to Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels - author of the "Big Lie" theory of political communication.

As O'Reilly explained to his radio audience, "Joseph Goebbels was the minister of propaganda for the Nazi regime and whose very famous quote was, 'If you tell a lie long enough, it becomes the truth.'"

So it was a tad awkward when O'Reilly, trying to sneak out of the Ziegfeld Theater and almost at the exit, came jowl to jowl with Moore himself.

Busted!

"Don't you want to stay and watch the whole film?" the director demanded.

A Lowdown spy reports that O'Reilly blushed, shook Moore's hand and muttered something about having to "tape something," and then slunk off into the night.

But "The O'Reilly Factor" tapes in the afternoon, hours before it airs at 8 and 11 p.m. - and well before Monday night's premiere.

Moore - who didn't return Lowdown's call for comment - was apparently skeptical. When his wife, Kathleen Glynn, came inside the theater a moment later, the filmmaker excitedly repeated O'Reilly's alibi in a scoffing tone.

Yesterday, a Fox News spokesman explained: "The movie started 40 minutes late, and Bill had a previous commitment to go to."

The flack added that O'Reilly was simply confirming Moore's booking on his Fox News show next week and that O'Reilly had already asked "Fahrenheit 9/11" producer Harvey Weinstein's office for a screener.

Again, problematic: A source close to the movie says no videotapes are being given out to anyone under any circumstances.

Surely not a little white lie!

I really really enjoyed Bowling For Columbine. I hope this movie lives up to it's predecessor. I cant wait to see it and find out about all the hooplah. Moore annoys me sometimes because he comes across as arrogant to me at times. It will be interesting to see his interview.

I have to agree with you that Michael Moore can be a bit arrogant at times but he does make some good points. I read his last book and he made the Bush/bin Laden connection in there How days after 9/11 a dozen or so bin Ladens were flown out of the US in the dark of night when there was a complete air traffic ban. It was news to me and I am sure many others and was hushed up.

I heard on the radio this morning that Ray Bradbury is extremely p****d that this "Pillsbury dough boy" stole the title to his book. He (Bradbury) said the even if the fat one had asked permission prior to using it, he (Bradbury) would not have given it.

Personally, I think the fat one ruined a great book title, and the possibilities of the Mel Gibson remake that is in the works.

Actually, Ray Bradbury's book is Farenheit 451. Which is funny you should mention this, before I had heard anything about the movie, there were some people on line chatting about it. I jumped in and went on and on about the book and how much I love Ray Bradbury, and that I have authgraphed copies. I felt like a real shmuck the next day when I realized it was the title for Michael Moore's movie :)

Michael Moore's new movie, "Fahrenheit 9/11," which casts President Bush in an unfriendly light, appears to have some conservatives worried ahead of the November election. War hawk and columnist Christopher Hitchens trashed Moore on MSNBC's "Scarborough Country" recently, and now the editors of World Net Daily are getting in on the act. The right-wing Web tabloid reports that famed author Ray Bradbury called Moore a "horrible human!" in a recent interview -- in Swedish. Bradbury's purported attack comes courtesy of "an English translation" of a story called "Moore är en skitstövel" (roughly translating to: "Moore is a bastard").

"Author Ray Bradbury has ripped into filmmaker Michael Moore for using the title 'Fahrenheit 9/11' for his new Bush-bashing movie, an obvious takeoff on the 84-year-old's science-fiction classic 'Fahrenheit 451.'

"Judging by an interview with the author conducted by the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter, Bradbury is steamed.

"'Michael Moore is a screwed a--hole, that is what I think about that case,' Bradbury said, according to an English translation of the story. 'He stole my title and changed the numbers without ever asking me for permission.' Continued the author: '[Moore] is a horrible human being -- horrible human!'

"When asked if he agrees with Moore's political positions, Bradbury replied, 'That has nothing to do with it. He copied my title; that is what happened. That has nothing to do with my political opinions.'"

As for the recent stamp of approval given to Moore's film by the French, Bradbury allegedly claimed there was an ulterior motive at work.

"Bradbury dismissed any chance of the title being changed at this point: 'Who cares? Nobody will see his movie. It is almost dead already. Never mind, nobody cares.'

"Moore's film won the Palme d'Or award at the Cannes Film Festival last month and is scheduled to hit theaters on June 25.

"Of the Cannes award, Bradbury told the paper: 'I have won prizes in different places and they are mostly meaningless. The people there hate us, which is why they gave him the d'Or. It's a meaningless prize.'"

Hi Chevy and WmPenwell,

It looked as tho it's a pretty interesting interview--from the news this morning. The movie will be shown at the major theater in our city, so a there are a couple of groups from work that are going together.

Moveon.org has requested that if you're pledging at their site to see it on the opening weekend to wear blue. The reason they're doing this is because of a right-wing group is trying to pressure theaters to not show the film. It's the same group who pressured a network not to air the TV movie about the Reagans a while back. I think the group is called "Move America Forward."

I'm totally confused as to what the point of wearing blue is? So people know you pledged?

K....... let's see, to protest Bush you're supposed to wear Red on Fridays, to see F911 wear blue.......... On a posative note, it looks like i"m gonna have to go get a new wardrobe :)
