im also very interested to know if you are backing away from your "turn of the year" prediction about the central banks going bankrupt yet. it is now going on february, and i am wondering how long exactly can you drag out the phrase "turn of the year"......does march count? april, may? is june still the "turn of the year"?? answers to these questions would be much appreciated, though i doubt very much that you will have the courage to stand behind your words and answer me. of course, we are all just sex-crazed apostates anyhow, and not worth your time.

Secret military tribunals and historical precedent

the subject of secret military tribunals has been raised here in recent months, and i've made no secret of my displeasure at such moves.

it was pointed out to me that president lincoln also did this, something i was not aware of.

however, i have recently read an article in the feb. 2002 issue of the atlantic monthly that discusses the world war ii precedent cited by bush for these tribunals.

Secrecy to prevent revenge is not a factor because the first WTC terrorist trials went on in New York City civil courts just fine, no problems. So the second WTC terrorist trials could do the same.

really? there was no revenge taken on nyc?

wow, i haven't posted on here in a long time... i lurked, back in the winter of '00, and posted in early '01 a few times.

looking back on those posts, and other stuff written, it amazes me how much can change... i thought to integrate myself into this web community i'd tell some of my story.... i was not raised in the truth.

i fell in love with a jw boy when i was 20 and married him.

okay fess up: whats your handle mean?.

my handle: mindchild comes from computer scientist and futurist dr. hans moravec: who wrote the book, the future of robot and human intelligence which is a book about when we will be able to construct machines capable of human intelligence and raises the possibility of uploading ourselves (every thought we ever had) into an android body much superior to the human ones we have now.

i entertain the hope that not only will i live long enough to see this happen, i will transfer myself (the complete essence of what is me) into a body of my own choosing and become immortal if i so choose.

W. busy 'restoring dignity to the White House'

just a reminder to all those partisan politics folks that both republicans and democrats are dirty, lying thieves through and through.

conservatives enjoyed piling on clinton and getting all frothy about how he dishonered the dignity of the white house.

then george w. promised to 'restore dignity to the white house' and instead of viewing this as a typical political lie to get elected, conservatives bought it hook, line, and sinker.

As I said, politics as usual. W. is no better nor worse than the rest of them. Crooks the whole lot. Liberals, conservatives, Democrats, Republicans, whoever has bought into the system. W. is no different.

true, thats why you just have to settle with the lesser of the evils (we do have to have a president, dont we?). there are always going to be lies, told or behind the scenes, we cant really cry about that. accepting it is part of being an american, unfortunately. at least we have the right man in office currently to deal with the terror crisis.

I have two questions for you. If it is true that Jerusalem fell in 586 BCE, then how am I to understand the fulfillment of Daniel's prophesy in Chapter 4?
Secondly, what is your understanding of the meaning of the "appointed times of the nations". When did it start and when did it end?

number one, i dont recall interjecting any ideas or arguments on the topic of 586/7 bce, so im not sure why youre asking me.

number two, considering the fact that you have repeatedly walked away from our discussions with no response to unanswered questions/points, why would i even give merit to a question by you directed at me? it seems every time i have tried to pose a legitimate argument to you, its been a waste of my time.

nope, not a jw. and speaking of not judging before you know the whole story.....how do you know whether or not im a "loving" person? from this one thread?

you dont ever have to keep your points nuetral, just be willing to back them up or explain them if confronted in a discussion. its the norm around here.

q 1: where does the bible say god's name is jehovah?

in all probability, the bible that you have does not have the name jehovah in it, anywhere.

we too have a fraternity, a brotherhood, gods family is what we are, and if anyone dishonors the congregation by conduct unbecoming a minister of god, shunning, or disfellowshipping as we call it, is gods means to deal with such ones.. q 7: how can a person isolate themselves if you chose to knock on peoples doors outside your religion?

Sure it does. The Jewish Law said not to eat blood. Food is a provision of God to sustain life. If you don't eat you die.

is it your understanding that we are still under jewish law? just wondering, because the quote you answered was that the bible doesnt say WE are to avoid blood for sustainment......in other words, modern-day humans: we, us.
