Why Ex-JWs Will Never Go From Door to Door
by comforter injehovah's witnesses proclaim the good news of the kingdom under the power of god's holy spirit.
jesus commanded his followers to preach in the most distant parts of the earth and promised them that the spirit of god would guide them in this life-saving work (acts 1:8).. without the spirit of god, one cannot continue preaching about jesus and god's kingdom (matthew 24:14).
one surely will not have god's spirit if one preaches a negative message (against jehovah's servants) from door to door.

NEW Article: Head Coverings for Women
by SYN inscully, this is for you the watchtower july 15.
2002 pages 26-27 .
questions from readers .

I gotta jump in here:
IF it is customary for women to wear headcoveings IN GENERAL (which it was in that culture) then women should maintain their headcovering when they pray; That makes so much sense and there is nothing mysogonistic about it.
It is customary for men to men to go out in public fully dressed, and so they should be fully dressed when they pray.
Don't you just love how Watchtower totally ignores the verse 4 I think it is: if her head is shaved she doesn't have to wear a head covering. Go JW women GO GO GO!!!
What Paul was talking about was LOCAL customs;;In spite of the fact that there is now 'neither male nor felmale' and 'god is no respecter of persons' nevertheless 'as far as it depends on you be peaceable with all men'.; Paul had to tell the Christians OVER and OVER again not to take a stand where a stand did not need to be taken.
Those that wish to eat meat. eat it; Those that do not, do not. He even went so far as to okay the eating of improperly bled meat and meat offered to idols. But all these things were within the context of THEIR cultural NORMS. He made it very clear that if the Christians behaved in a way that was offensive to their neighbors, thus bringing problems on themsleves, that this was NOT PERSECUTION FOR THE SAKE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.
And as for his statement about women being the glory of men, this makes absolutely no sense within the context of both the Jewish culture and the Christian culture. ; Where the Bible, and even the words of one Biblical author, conflict so much, it can't hurt to step back and take a good hard look at the cultural context. In Jewish culture, women were property period. ; In the Christian culture, men and women were equal. ; So what was Paul talking about?
The observance of LOCAL customs and sensitivities.
Watchtower is really good at sending ;thousands of years' worth ;of cultural advances that humans have striven to make, back to the 'stone age'.
HAH!!!; Well, no more.

If it's a choice between IHOP and Denny's I opt for IHOP. They leave both the coffeepot AND the syrup at the tables....

Who are these guys?
by Nowhere inhello, i have a little question here.
(be patient with my english) .
are they really witnesses?

What gets me is the lying at the doors.
Let's look at the Watchtower's website. "Do you shun former members?"
The answer is yes and everyone knows it is yes, it has been publicly documented since at least 1957, actually since the days of Maria Russell in 1906 and Olin Moyle (forget the date).
But here what Watchtower say:
"Those who simply cease to practice the faith are not shunned". These are not former members. they did not answer the question. (Paraphrased) "Some individuals are disfellowshiped who practice willfil unrepentant sin." That doesn't anwer the question either. "Disfellwoshiping does not sever family ties." That doesn't anwer the question either.
That's up there for all the world to see. Can you imagine what JW's are doing at the doors and privately in Bible studies?
See my post on the Draffenville elders. If they are willing to do this IN PUBLIC before THE PRESS to rape and molestaion survivors then what must they be doing IN PRIVATE BEHIND CLOSED DOORS?
Just a thought.

Response mailed August 1997 by a brother
by IslandWoman injune 15, 1996. .
dear brothers,.
in the article "what 'instinctively wise' creatures can teach us", the last paragraph ends with the sentence: "and they [true christians] continue to learn from some 'instinctively wise' creatures.

What I'm hearing more and more is that 'the faithful and discreet slave' is anyone who will do good works toward others; those who are willing to stand up and shoulder the burdens of caring for those less fortunate for themselves; and so on and so on.
That happens to be most of the people I've ever known in my life.
And I were to compare them to ants, well, i don't consider that an insult!!!
good article IW.

APOSTATES unreliable witnesses ... huh ?
by alliwannadoislive inan interesting site i stumbled on which concludes that apostates are unreliable witnesses .... http://www.neuereligion.de/eng/kliever/.
conclusions .
the above analysis clearly shows that while there is a certain incidence of apostasy in new religious movements, the overwhelming majority of people who disengage themselves from these non-conforming religions harbor no lasting ill-will toward their past religious associations and activities.

Hey amac:
<I would agree with that article to some degree. >
Of course you would. I see this technique demonstrated all the time at the Kingdom hall. Not to mention which, it's in the reasoning book.
< do agree that there are certain emotional resentments in "apostates" that can easily distort views and prevent objectivity. >
'There are certain emotional resentments that can easily distort views and prevent objectivity...' IN EVERY HUMAN BEING THAT WALKS THE FACE OF THIS EARTH WHO HAS A PULSE AND AN IQ OVER 50.
<but also keep in mind the obvious emotional connection>
Yeah let's do that. let's keep in mind the deep obvious emotional connection one has when they discover they have been lied to for 50 years and given up home hearth and family for a bunch of murdering thieving as*holes. And let's keep in mind they have two choices...go blindly along and hope nobody notices that the 'emporer has no clothes' orr they can stop their involvement, turn around and try to help others with the damage that was done. Yeah that person's gonna be real objective when THEY are interviewed.
More and more JW's are finally choosing the latter course. They are voting with their feet and with their wallets. They run the risk of being labled every name in the book by those inside and outside the religion, but they bravely push ahead and do good works. It's been my privilege to meet a few.
<I think this is evident in AlanF's response where he repeatedly nametag's this man/men as morons>.
Alan is being too generous. Some of the public that the Rodney Starks and the Klievers are misleading are going to die. What do you call someone like that.

SUICIDE IN KH PARKING LOT
by Sabine inlast saturday, a former ministerial servant and pioneer committed suicide in the woodinville washington kingdom hall parking lot.
he was disfellowshipped several years ago, and according to the old sister that related the story to me today, he was depressed because no one would talk to him.
i don't know how i kept calm when she explained to me that "we couldn't talk to him...he was disfellowshipped.".
