  What, then, should be the attitude of members of a Christian congregation as to attending funerals of reported suicides who may have been associated with the congregation? What about an elder who has received a request to conduct such a funeral? Where death appears to have been accidental, even though it was reported as a suicide or may have involved mental illness, the consciences of some members of the congregation may permit them to attend the funeral to comfort the bereaved ones. Also, it is left up to the personal decision of an elder whether he will conduct such a funeral upon request. However, the congregation may prefer not to sponsor such a funeral publicly or to have it in the Kingdom Hall because of the effect it may have on the uninformed community.

  On the other hand, where it is a clearly established suicide, members of the congregation and elders may desire not to become involved in the funeral. In such cases arrangements would be left to the family itself for a private funeral where some member of the household might say a few words for the sake of the relatives. Furthermore, some may not desire to attend a funeral of one who is believed to have committed suicide where the funeral is conducted by someone other than a member of the congregation or by the funeral director himself at the request of the family.

  As lovers of righteousness we leave the matter in the hands of a merciful, all-wise God as to any possible future for some of those driven to suicide. We who are lovers of life, holding every day of life sacred, endeavor to conduct our daily affairs and associations in a way that will merit the approval of the One who gave life to humankind.

  I forget where in his book, '30 Years a Watchtower Slave', but William Schnell claimed that Jehovah's Witnesses had a persecution complex. It's easy to see that if they can't come by persecution honestly, they will contrive it by assailing anything and everything a community holds sacred, and any and every social form of progress man has made in several thousand years. So they can be happy to be miserable.

  I think the Watchtower deliberatly directs its members to behave in a way that PROVOKES this kind of response (from Farkel's thread)

  We struggle now to understand how the members of a church could turn their backs on a family like this. The God we believe in is a God of love and forgiveness, not one of self-righteous hypocrisy. Being excommunicated from the church (a Jehovah’s Witness congregation) had a huge impact on this family and is a practice that should be exchanged for one of love and understanding.

  hey, i just thought of something every disfellowshiped or disassociated person in here could do to really piss the elders off.

  write a letter to them saying you want to be reinstated, because every time you do this they have to meet with you.

  see how many time you can get them to meet.

  Um---well--let me add a little to your statments.

  1)Yes, upon a request for reconsideration, the elders must meet with you. But they can take a year to do so if they wished, and I have seen them take months. While the subject sits at the hall meeting after meeting. They can 'lose your publisher card' they can 'not find the original committe or what's left of them' and on and on and on. Also, the Watchtower said they do not have to entertain/accept/act on any such request from a 'known apostate' or 'opposer' or 'difficult' person or any such thing at all. And they don't have to even tell you that. Just let you stew. All you could do is keep nailing them at the meetings untill they bar you from the KH.

  2) That article actually says they MAY, IF THEY WISH, BUT NO MORE THAN ONCE A YEAR, call on disfellowshipped individuals. It's very rare they do this, as they don't do much of what they're SUPPOSED to do, so why would they do what they DON'T have to do. And of course, there are those they should not call on, and these same elders are the ones who determine who THOSE are.

  But yes, a wave of letters all over the place during the same week that Dateline airs would be absolutely cool!!!

  has any one here done any research or ever practiced homeopathic medicine??.

  I have a little knowledge and some extensive personal expereiences with homeopathic remedies, but I find that when they give relief they don't do so very quickly--a serious problem when you need to get back to work soon.

  I find the herbal remedies are sooo much better, and faster. They also are not as safe. There are always the risks of an unexpected allergy, and if taking medication, it definitely may not be safe.

  Quotes and redhorse woman give good advice--research research research. My email is open if you want it.

  I'm one of the staunchest Bible defenders on this board, but there are days when I cannot find enough patience with these first-century Christians. Either Jesus deliberately choose his disciples from among the dumbest and densest (and certainly most dysfunctional) or they were constantly drinking too much of that wine. What is there not to understand about this little ditty?

He instead slandered Olin Mayle. Who promoptly went to court and WON. TWICE. Everybody with me now...

  Olin Moyle WON. TWICE. The Watchtower, bragging about being in subjection to the governemtal authories (which only fooled Hitler for a half a second, to the sorrow of 10,000 German JW's)finally forked over the money with the same spirit of demonic grudginess that Rutherford did when HE lost a 9,000 suit.

  That's out history and religious hypocrisy lesson, littel boys and girls.

  I believe 'Calgary' refers to the father who is being shunned becasue of campaigning for blood transfusions for his daughter undergoing chemotherapy. Sad situation...and one of Hawk's pet peeves.

  by using covenant in both verses, the nwt is thereby giving the impression that the covenant of the blood (v20) is the same thing as the appointment of the kingdom to the disciples (v29).. the greek word for covenant in v20 is diatheke.

  I typed up this huge reply to your TO YOUdon'tKNOW post, and then it's deleted...groan.

  Anyway...

  You'll find that YOUdon'tKNOW and FREDHALL and others are in no hurry to post original or responses to posts unless there's some big issue they're trying to keep off the front page and the active page. Just my 1/2 cent worth.

  The Watchtower shot off its own foot-both of them even- by the propagation of a literal 144,000 member class that was going to 'heaven any day now'. By the 1930's, they were faced with a couple of hundred thousand members that hadn't gone anywhere. The solution: the creation of a second class that was earthly, and serving God in the temple or outside the temple or at God's feet or someplace--anyplace, just not where the 144,000 is.

  And how to keep this group from sharing with the heretofore ELITE group of partakers? Re-translate the Bible...hence..TA DA !the NWT is born. What the translators (and I use the word in its loosest form) didn't dare actually rewrite (such as the scriptures you mentioned Atreyu) they outright LIE about!!!

  About Judas: "Immediately Judas left the group. A comparison of Matthew 26: 20-29 with John 13:21-30 indicates that he departed before Jesus instituted the celebration of the Lord's Evening Meal."

  A comparison of these two scriptures shows no such a da***d thing. In support of this,

  note the Watchtower's use of the word 'INDICATES'...not very definitive, is it? Gives them an 'out' if they need it.

  Plus, how many times has the Watchtower actually SPELLED out these scriptures? Something so important, and all I can ever find is citations. Hmmm..

  And finally, it notes: "Luke's presentation of this incident evidently is not in strict chronological order...." ROTFLMAO!!!!

  Re-translate---lie---and then cll the inspired Bible and an eyewitness account AND LUKE was a physician, educated..

  HE DIDN'T MEAN WHAT HE MEANT!!!! ROTFLMAO!!!!

  Bloodless medicine and Surgery--Three videos

  A series of three videos has been produced by Audio/Video Services, together with brothers from Germany and other countries, that presents the reasonableness and effectiveness of bloodless medicine and surgery. In all three videos, well-known surgeons contrast the effectiveness of transfusion-alternative strategies with procedures that use blood. The first video in the series is entitles Transfusion-alternative Stategies--Simple, Safe, Effective.

  The first video was completed in time to qualify for entry in the 34th annual U.S. International Film Video Festival. In all, there were 1500 entries from 33 countries.

  Comments: the video was awarded second place and recieved the silver screen award in 'Research Documentation' and 'Professional-Educational'. (and second place) and first place in 'Current Issues'.

  Further comments. Let's deal with something the Watchtower will not...human beings!!! Even according to the society, the main issues were not-emergency surgery.

  Is this the area where Jehovah's Witnesses lose their lives the most? It would appear not. JW's die in the emergency room and in childbirth..and more and more from the effect of other medical treatments. which leads to some issues...

  1) These tecniques will have no effect on stemming the flood of JW's dying from blood issue, since elective and planned surgery isn't the biggest problem.

  2) These issues involve training surgeons and involve machines and equipment which are not accessible or avalible to MOST of the Jehovahah's Witnesses--in third world countries and in South American countries, where most of their growth is occurring right now. Taking into account both of these factors, you are now only able to benefit a tiny fraction of JW's. And so, the problem still remains that Jehovah's Witnesses will still be expelled/shunned because they accepted blood transfusions because these 'wonderful alternative' ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO THEM. This blatantly discriminates against JW's who are wealthier or who live in better areas of the world. What good are stategies and tecniques and machines and equipment THAT ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO THEM. So much for God not being partial---the Watchtower certainly is.

  3) If it's really true that blood transfusions are so 'ungodly', and that Jehovah's Witnesses really don't believe in blood transfusions and don't really follow men...then prove it WATCHTOWER and remove the shunning and expulsion policy and give these JW's a chance to refuse it on their own, make it a real conscience matter....HAHAHA. AND DON'T GET CAUGHT IN THE STAMPEDE!!!!
