since jws set so much store by bible study etc., i was wondering how they explain away john chapter 3. specifically where jesus tells nicodemus you have to be born again by the spirit of god in order to enter the kingdom of heaven.
while i'm here i would also like to know about eph 2:5,6. it seems to me they work like trojans in order to attain a place in paradise- but this verse clearly states we are saved by god's grace and not our works.
I think they claim there are two covenenats, one directly with the 144,000 which that scripute applies to; and the other is a coveneat with all mankind, which they SAY Jesus was speaking of to the thief when they were dying on the cross together.
There's a big thread on this board somewhere regarding this; something about Jesus not mediator for all mankind. Somegood comments on there.

as of 1 pm today barb anderson was notified that she has been disfellowshipped in writing by the judicial committee in her congregation.
barb was df in absentia at a second hearing that was declared after she successfully defended herself against charges in the first hearing.
home office came back with further instructions to make it stick the second time around.

it has their general counsel stating the following in regard to child abuse cases:.
Old Hippie, I am going to ask you again; how is it you in your country that what is specifically printed in the elders book, the Watchtower, and the BOE letters can be so ignored?
1) Two witness, two act rule (elder's and organized book) smoking is the example used
2) two witness two act rule, specifically for CHILD ABUSE
3) one witness rule, rape survivors that do not scream is the longest-running example (since 1965 and still in effect)
Care to enlighten us?

There are three rules the Watchtower practices:
1) two witness two act rule. In the elders book, it states that two different witnesses to two different acts are acceptable for judicial action. The example given is smoking.
2) two witness one act rule. SPECIFICALLY for CHILD ABUSE. there must be two witnesses to THE SAME ACT.
3) one witness rule. Usual case is rape, when the survivor admits to not screaming. Can be disfellowshiped based on sole testimony.
Unless the elders book and the relevant Watchtowers say something different in your country, and that is possible.

..usa... a witness just told me that witnesses always hand over a molester to the cops.
he also told me i was full of crap whenever i told him that elders call the legal dept.
first to find out whether or not the state is a reporting state.. could anyone with the resources please point me to the boe letter or other resource that indicates that elders should contact the legal dept.
