possible need for blood transfusions clashes with jehovah's witness belief.

I went through years of infertility as a witness and was actively involved in RESOLVE, the largest national support organization for those going through IF (infertility).
With that said, IVF is very much looked down on among JWs. IVF can produce upwards of 20 to 30 embryos outside of the womb. Even if a couple decides to freeze the remaining embryos for their future use, there is the ethical issue of what happens should the husband or wife divorce and there are unused embryos. Also freezing almost always kills off the weaker embryos, so a JW would be willingly killing off human life (in their view). GIFT can be an alternative in which the harvested eggs are put together with the washed sperm inside the fallopian tubes. However, that still would require the husband to masturbate and that is a no-no. So getting around the IVF issue is virtually impossible.

I wrote a letter to the editor about the comments by Ruge. He has used a ton of double speak to skirt the fact that JWs DO NOT support infertility treatment nor the couples going through it. At it's fundamental base, JWs believe trying to have children in this time of the end is unwise, so actually supporting a couple struggling with this would go against their core belief. Secondly, anything other than intercourse is seen as unclean. Just the work-up alone involves a semen analysis. A process that requires the man to mastrubate. We won't even get into their issues w/creating life outside the womb.

ITA on the validation. I've said it before, but if anyone ever decides to set up a memorial webpage for all of the names of those lost, I would donate for those I've lost.

I'm looking for assistance from those of you who live in Atlanta. I am an award-winning, nationally recognized children's photographer from Florida and am currently expanding into the Atlanta area. I have a couple of clients there who are helping me, but would love all the help I can get. I need to find high-end, trendy children's boutiques in the Buckhead and/or Alpheretta regions in which I can display my work. I am willing to do a complimentary shoot for the owner but I am really adamant that it be high-end as this is my target market.
I'm trying to reach out to all my friends and acquaintances in hopes that they will have leads for me. Anything, even a name, would be helpful. You can either respond to this post or PM me. I would be happy to send you my website so you can see that I am legit before giving me any info, but I don't want to post it on an open forum.
Thanks!

think you've guessed someone's identity?
by J-ex-W ini'm just curious.
i wonder how many readers out there think the stuff they've read sound so much like someone they know that they're going, ohmigawd!!
or if circumstances described seem like big fat give-aways.

Not talking about JW stuff has the opposite effect - regression phase
by truthseeker ini decided to take the advice of some of you here when i wrote about my situation.. i am married, but my wife is a die hard witness.
despite me showing her mountains of evidence and her actually accepting it, she is regressing back into jw think.. this has happened since i stopped mentioning anything anti-jw.. now she thinks that my problems with jw's were just a phase because i am not bringing up the issue anymore.. i really want to leave this religion, but i can't do that without losing her.. many here i know are trapped and some are still serving as elders.
i don't know how you do it, but i guess routine is routine.

One other thing regarding the regressing back in. When something is pounded into your head at least three times a week, it is hard to break free. JWs know this, that is why they make meeting attendance a huge issue. Most of the people who leave started by spending time away from the organization and actually seeing it w/o rose-colored glasses on. That is classic cult mind-control for you.

Hi truthseeker, I'm sorry for what you are going through. I disagree w/the posters who said that a person who doesn't leave after being presented with the facts is "dumb." My husband is extremely intelligent and has been presented with very convincing elements but yeah know what? When it comes to the control of family, there is no measure. My psych has helped me to understand the power of family over decisions, he sees it all the time and it can never be underestimated. I also find that my husband says that he is weak but believes Jehovah is cleansing the organization and that the scriptures that talk about people engaging in the works of the flesh, well that is applied to the congregation. My point is that there will always be some way to justify not leaving. I've given up and just hope that as our girls grow he will let them do what they choose to do and I will be here to present all the options to them.
You've gotta take care of yourself and if you find that your partner is no longer respecting your right to believe as you wish, it is time to get out. That is my line in the sand, if he tries to control what I believe or teach to the girls, our marriage is over.
Good luck!
