Im in the process of trying to get my boyfriend to see sense, as however much I try I can see no sense in the JWs teachings as "Christian"..Ive got little over a week before he's baptised, but Im not giving up that easily, especially after reading the stories on here..He says he wants to rescue me from a burning house..I say I want to rescue him from the hang mans noose..anyway was discussing with him earlier and I know I read somewhere in the Bible something along the lines that we should let no man teach us, and read no other material that has been changed, apart from the Bible, as God will teach us all things..I just cant remember the exact wording or where in the Bible I read it..does someone know where that was...Im still looking lol!

hi..am here asking for help again...theres been a change since i last posted...I explained to him that even if i were to convert to jw that due to the fact that Im divorced, that we shouldnt marry. He said he was under the impression that once you converted to witness, anything you had done before was not held against you and therefore as I had divorced as a non witness, would be able to marry..I told him there is always a way round these things but he says hes going to talk to people today and find out exactly how this works..he also said he has to research and look into it..as he pointed out, it has opened up many questions about jus how the jws work and interpret things. We are going to talk about it tonight after he has asked the elders etc and was wondering if someone could plzzz give me the best way to go around discussing this with him...ie..making him see how hypocritical and silly it all is without appearing disrespectful.

Thanks for your replys guys..I really wish I could come back saying Id been able to walk away, but I havent..After breaking off contact for a month, he got back in contact with me and said that we were made for each other and he would have no second thoughts on marrying me if i converted to jehovahs witness...he is to be baptised next month. The thought of my life without him is unbearable and the month we were not in contact was hell..Although the reason given for my divorce wasnt adultery, I am pretty sure he was unfaithful and was even told as much my many of my friends. Anyway I have agreed to try to look into the witnesses with a positive view in the hope that I may change my mind and enable us a future together..I noticed their are many other people on the site in similar predicaments to mine and they have my sympathy..it is truly a nightmare..in my case, I feel that apart from this issue, I have found my soulmate, and nothing could make me unhappier than I was without him..wish me luck kI gonna need it!!!

what are the chances he,ll stay?
by luffy inwhat are the chances a 55 year old protestant who has become caught up with the jws and is about to convert, will realise they are probably making the biggest mistake of their lives?..anybody known any converts or had any experience of this?

luffy
Thanks for your answers, yes he was my "intended" and I am thinking about resuming "contact" after a month of no contact after he has made it quite clear he will give up "the love of his life" for Jehovah, but wants to remain friends..I am already blue in the face trying to get him to research before he commits, but he just seems so blinkered it is unreal(definitely the most frustrating situation of my life)..I guess hes been indoctrinated by an expert!! as before all this he was the most loving and fun man. He says his goal for baptism is November, after not even being involved a year..and yes he really IS serious..he even shaved off his beloved goatee..ugh I think Ive just about reached the point at which I give up!!!!

Dating an Ex-JW
by dyone ini am dating someone who recently left the jw religion.
i am not a jw, nor do i align myself with any specific religious organization.. intellectually, it was very difficult for me to accept that he could be absorbed into what i believe is one of the strongest cults of our society, but in time i realized just how easy it was to be absolved in something that you are forced into out of fear.. he's at a point right now where he is reading/researching various literature and discussing his experiences openly *such as boards as these* and i encourage such discussions.
he does not see himself ever returning to the religion and is even willing to face that he may be shunned from his own family as a result.. here is where i am "stuck".

count yourself lucky that the man you love is infact an ex JW, and not as in my situation, about to embark on being baptised one, my love for him is such that I would have done anything for the chance of a life with him, the obstacles you face will be difficult but not impossible as are mine. I would gladly swap circumstances with you!!!...good luck.

Would the world be a better place if everyone was JW?
by Gill inthe back of 'the end of false religion is near!
' leaflet makes an interesting claim that in the book 'holocaust politics' published in 2001, says : 'if more people practiced versions of what the jehovah's witnesses preach and practice, the holocaust could have been prevented and genocide would scourge the world no more.'.
do you believe that is true?

thanks "on the way out"..I just read your profile and guess you are in a better position than most to advise..I guess the bottom line is that Im trying to deal with an impossible situation..I think however painful, my best bet is to leave him in the hope that one day he will realise he made the wrong choice.I sure dont wish this on anyone!!!!..the saying goes "if you cant beat them join them"..I think this is a case of "you cant beat them so leave"
