  What do you do when a old Boyfriend wants to meet up for dinner........

  we are just friends and we talk maybe 3 or 4 times a year, just to catch up.

  well today, actually 5 minutes ago he said he was going to be in my area with in the next month and wants to have dinner.. i don't see a problem with it.

  i haven't seen him in years and it would be nice just to meet up for dinner and some laughs.

  I say he's being naughty. If you are happily married, I would suggest not going alone.

  I think you should either A) take hubby along to get the point across, or B) tell him no, and be stern about how weird it seems to you.

  " on pg 30 of aug 15th watchtower 2006.. the question: "under the law, why did certain natural sexual functions make a person "unclean"?".

  the answer: "the laws concerning uncleanness ascribed to seminal emissions, menstruation, and childbirth fostered good hygiene and a healthy lifestyle, stressed the sanctity of blood, and showed the need for atonement of sins.".

  Boredom got the best of me, and I took a glance at the "Do You Remember?" on pg 30 of Aug 15th WatchTower 2006.

  The question: "Under the Law, why did certain natural sexual functions make a person "unclean"?"

  The answer: "The laws concerning uncleanness ascribed to seminal emissions, menstruation, and childbirth fostered good hygiene and a healthy lifestyle, stressed the sanctity of blood, and showed the need for atonement of sins."

  I'm curious as to how others on the forum feel about this. First off on the list, semen. In Leviticus, it is established that a guy with an emission is dirty. But what about a guy who's had one in his sleep? Is that what they are talking about? What about when a couple has intercourse? Don't they know that once the "deed" is done, it doesn't "disappear", instead it lingers around pretty much for the rest of the day (of course, we know where it's emitting from now, exactly where the man left it). So does that mean that after a couple would do it, the woman would have to hide until it's finished (God forbid I say it), leaking? Also, they have catergorized semen with periods and childbirth. Are they assuming it is equivalent to blood? Honest question here!

  Menstruation. So the Bible is FULL of remarks about the filth and dispicable-ness of a girl on her period. You can't touch her, let alone lay down with her. It's spoken of as something she should be ashamed of, much like the semen of a guy. I realize this has something to do with blood, but why would a loving god give a woman a monthly cycle that she should hide away for? Today, we have sanitary napkins, and we are clean. Back then, they had pelvic wraps, am I correct? It's basically the same sort of garment. I understand that this is placed under the OT, and many JWs now are "proud" of the fact that we aren't under it anymore. But they often teach us to abide by many guidelines in the OT, yet I have yet to hear anything about the elders' wives, among others, to hide or be ashamed of their periods. Do they disregard this rule because it's too inconvenient? Or if you are hiding, you aren't recruiting in service? What about JWs who do it on their periods? Are they guilty of not respecting blood?

  Also on the blood side of things, childbirth. Correct me if i am wrong, but wasn't the law back then that if a woman had a baby girl, she was supposed to be quarantined for almost TWICE as long than if she had a boy? Now tell me, what makes the blood of labor involving a girl dirtier than that of a baby boy? Twice the female filth? I've absolutely never understood this, and I have always believed this to be a Middle-Eastern male mentality......NOT something that any God would put in place. I know that these men were quite disappointed that they couldn't get a son every time, but is it worth punishing their wives? Apparently so, because I just can't see how all these male vs female childbirth rules could hold any water. After all, the blood that comes out of mom is THE SAME.

  And last, but not least, the final comment in the JW answer. The need for "atonement of sins". Can anyone please tell me how my husband's NATURAL semen emission, my NATURAL monthly cycle, and the NATURAL miracle of birth is a reminder that we are sinners??????? Circumcision also comes into the picture here. Why would he put something there, and then tell them to cut it off? It's unnatural. If female circumcision was practiced more widely, we would be going insane to try to stop it, because it's painful and meanningless. I know they would argue that it was to seperate the good from the bad, but why mutilation? It certainly isn't cleaner, because the foreskin of a male has a cousin on the female side, known as the clitoral hood. This is kept clean through hygiene, not cutting. From what I understand, this practice is much more common in the US than in the UK. But I could be wrong.

  I know I am not the only one who believes that the Bible was dreamed up by men. But what I'd like to know is how religious people can read this stuff in the Bible, and somehow think that these were loving provisions by God? Why would God come into the picture and suddenly want to either change everything about human sexuality, or make humans feel disgusting with themselves? It's so sad to think of those religion has hurt over the centuries (probably more than it has helped).

  I've also heard of some who like to say that these were Biblical lessons so that we can learn them and use them to gain God's approval. But why is it ok to use people and animals as an example for us today, when it was costly and painful (often lethal) to those who were being made an example of? I'm not trying to make the Bible add up, because I simply don't believe it is the word of God, but I would like to understand why someone could accept these teachings? And how on earth does the WatchTower expect the above quoted answer, to answer anything at all. All it does, of course, is causes more questions, and reinforces some persons' beliefs that the Bible was made-up by old dudes who wanted control.

  By the way, this is the reason I have started thinking on my own. It didn't have so much with the Society itself (although I do believe they're out of their minds), but it was with religion in general. It's painful growing up as a girl and reading this stuff and wondering why God doesn't love me as much as the 2 year old boy sitting across the hall, just because of gender...not age/intelligence.

  Does anyone know why the focus was placed so hard on boys? Don't they know that girls do it too?

  They should be ashamed of themselves for talking so much about it, whether it be about boys or girls. As a young girl, I remember getting caught (because I didn't think there was anything to hide), and being WHIPPED for touching a part of my own body! Same scenario happened several times before I was about 10, then they started hounding me with the YPA chapter on it. Every time I was alone, they would suspect immediately that this was what I was doing, and would ask me! I couldn't understand why it was so bad, but I figured it would get me killed at Armageddon, so I felt horrible about it. But I couldn't stop myself anyway and I would just do it and then feel guilty and cry about it afterward. It was such an obsession that I did it SEVERAL times a day!

  Eventually, I quit caring altogether and the rest is history. Thanks to the obsession they caused me, I became a promiscious teen and narrowly escaped a VD. My parents made an ENORMOUS deal out of it, and would often talk down to me and mention it, especially my mom who did the laundry and who would inspect each of my underwear for "clues". I still don't know what one earth she was looking for. But she would actually call me into the laundry room to ask if I'd been doing it and fussing me over nothing at all. That's hard for a 11 year old to take, especially when the body is changing so rapidly in pre-teen girls.

  What's more, is that they went through my belongings while I was at work, and 18 years old. They were basically looking for anything a girl could use on herself, and threw it away. As a married woman today, I would NOT be surprised to find out that they've taken their key and come into my house for a looksee. That's why myself and my poor ADULT husband have to hide anything "questionable". I wish I had the guts to DA myself

  Sorry if my post made anyone uncomfortable. It's only testimony to the fact that the same stories we've had shoved down our throats are real stories. My scenario is almost identical to many JW kids'. If the ones mentioned in the publications were actually real (which I believe they were), I feel sorry for them and feel bad that not only were they lied to, but they've foolishly allowed themselves to be exploited to prove a point.

  the watchtower org does not believe that 'justice and equality' should be pursued nowadays.

  justice and equality or only to be expected in a never neverland that will never come.. november 1st watchtower on page 14, shows how the borg uses ecclesiastes to teach it's slaves to accept oppression, poverty and injustice.. page 14 it discusses ecclesiastes 1:15 and explains it under:.

  I am anxious about the animal cruelty in this world. I guess by my trying to reverse a little injustice towards animals was just a waste of my time. Hold on, let me ask my dog if she thinks I wasted my time saving her life from death row....

  The Capable Wife....

  right before i got disfellowshipped in 2002 i was sitting in the kingdom hall listening to an elder give a public needs talk.....and this one floored me.. so the brother starts talking about what it means to be a capable wife...of course all of the scriptures and regular bullshit we've heard over and over....but then he goes on to say...."so what i'm saying sisters is.... to save money to help with the household you can make a garden and get food from that to make your dinners.... you can learn how to sew so that you can make your own clothes instead of spending money to go and buy them at expensive department stores.... and you could look into your circumstances to see if its feasible for you to quit your jobs to stay home and run the household....blah blah blah.." i can't much remember the rest because my head had blown up to the size of jupiter with the hot steam i was about to let go in the middle of the talk.

  i decided it was better to get up and go... and i did.

  i only mention this now...because (now divorced from my ministerial servant husband of 10 years), i am a single mother that has worked her ass off not only in the secular world, but now as a mother raising two children, getting my college degree and maintaining every avenue of the household responsibilities on my own.

  My husband is a non-believer, and he does NOT want to be my boss, as it is I who does the remodeling of the house (down to the drywall). the painting, fixing of things, etc. He would be LOST if I was sitting around waiting for him to give me "feminine" orders. We believe that a marriage is mutual and that domestic chores are NOT feminine, but a job for whoever is available to do them at the moment. In other words, if it's dirty, clean it! LOL. I've never understood why a penis is supposed to be in charge. I also never got the whole "weaker vessel" thing. I mean, my dad is a big man, and if he catches a cold he is like a big baby about it! Doesn't a woman's pelvis split ever so slightly during labor? And the monthly blood-fest? It hurts like nothing I've ever felt (my mom admits that a bad period is WORSE pain than the 3 natural born children she had because the pain is the same, but lasts LONGER!) I guess something like that is varied from woman to woman, but my family has a history of exhausting, cold sweat, fall onto the floor and black out in agony periods.

  Who is weaker?

  That being said, I love to sew (but it is not cheap). Also, I don't work, because I don't want to. I used to work (and made more than the husband...mind you), and I hated it. I will go to college instead. These guys need to get out of the stone-age. A lot of guys get the impression that their mind-set is correct because of the ditsy women they know. Maybe the only reason they are ditsy is because they were told to be so when growing up (or that they got the impression that this was how real women acted, and subconsciously adopted that personality). I could be wrong, but I have yet to see anything prove the JW women mentality to be valid!

  My man and I think it is a joke, and get a good laugh out of it because when we disagree about something, he says, "SUBMIT!!", as a joke, and it is hysterical to imagine a JW man saying that and honestly MEANING it! Hah! Goobers...

  What would you do? everyones input please!

  i have a great neighbor who has always looked out for us and sent over very expensive pet food at no cost because she is in the business.. she has been a great neighbor all around for many years.

  her daughter and my son are very good friends.. just this week she asked my son to take care of her pets.

  he went surfing today and asked me to cover.. when i went over i was so alarmed, and came back so depressed i do not know what to do.. it is an 800 square foot house with 2 dogs, must be 8 fish tanks full of turtles, a cat,and a parrot sitting in a dusty cage in the dark.

  I'm a little concerned about the turtles inside the house. It sounds as if the tanks are overstocked. How many are in each tank? And how big are these tanks? Are there lamps on the tanks? Are they water turtles? How much land/water is available to them?

  Tell her she can ship them to me. I rehab and rehome (into the wild) aquatic turtles. These are animals that often die in captivity because of hoarding. They are very sensitive to their environment and can easily become stressed and diseased. As for the big ones outside, they seem like they are in tortoise heaven, having their own yard (unless they are in a small pen, which is a big problem). I wouldn't stress over those guys.

  Talk to her first, if that doesn't work, call your local no-kill humane society. They should investigate for you.

  Yes, the alias "Schizm", is already taken. Next best thing? Schism! I might have to change it though, because I need to get rid of the log in name I have, in exchange for a "secret" one. Seriously. I'll probably be back with another version of the same word though.

  I knew many of you would understand my paranoia. I didn't expect to find out that someone had actually gotten caught though. There isn't anyone here to catch me at my house, but I worry about hackers.
