I remember. If you place all five fingers on the bible representing 5 meetings per week. You can take one finger off or miss one meeting and still keep a hold on the bible. It just gets harder as you miss meetings or fingers to keep your grip on the bible. Correct? -

The Bible Gods Word or Mans
by azor ini remember studying this book years ago and how it impacted my belief system.
i no longer believe the bible is god's word.
however i do have a couple of lingering questions on this subject.

Son of trinity, is this your quote?
As I have written elsewhere the JWs have all the guilt of Catholicism without any of the Beautiful Bells and Whistles, all the paranoia and tribalism of Judaism without any of the respect for dissent, all the intolerance of Islam without any of the valor. They represent everything wrong with Abrahamic religion, which is why they can claim to be persecuted. All the other Abrahamic religions see their own flaws magnified in the Jehovah's Witnesses, which is why for an ex-JW giving up on God completely after the JWs is the usual reaction.

That's not the only reason I gave up on god at an early age. I do like this quote though. -

Why people don't believe in God
by pressman indo you want to know why i think people don't believe in god?
well i believe people don't want to believe in god because they are scared.
they know that if they finally do gorge the confidence to believe in him, he might discipline them for their skepticism.

Active posters: What education have you had, what degrees do you possess?
by EndofMysteries infrom so many posts and conversations on here, you'd think over 1/2 the posters here possess doctorates in theology, physics, biology, etc.
i'm curious aside from the books and research people have done here, what degrees they have.
to start, i just got an aa and going straight through full time to an mba.

Degree's are good for finding employment but like Forrest Gump said "Stupid is what stupid does" even amoungst degree holders. -

How does the brain process the enormous amounts of information it has to deal with
by fulltimestudent ina fascinating insight into our mental processes:.
researchers at nyu langone medical center have captured images of the underlying biological activity within brain cells and their tree-like extensions, or dendrites, in mice that show how their brains sort, store and make sense out of information during learning.. .
rendering of dendrites in brain (stock image).

The mathematical probability of spontaneous order (no designer/creator)
by Fernando inthere seem to be many prerequisites for life as we know it.. to name a few: order, function, compatibility, availability, sustainability, intelligence, consciousness, intuition and so on.. focusing on only one, namely order.. what are the chances of order arising spontaneously, by chance, with no creator/designer?.
i have often pondered this and recently came across a mathematical summary of the big picture:.
if every particle in the known physical universe (10^80 particles), participated in one trillion interactions (10^12 interactions) per second, for the entire 30 billion years of the universe's existence (10^18 seconds), then we would by now have covered only 10^110 permutations.. if you had only 100 components in a container, what are the chances that a blindfolded person could lay them out in order on a table?.

Fernando I don't think most physicists would agree that the universe is 30 billion years old. That kind of throws a monkey wrench into your math right from the start.
