The tower of Babel was a rebellion against God instigated by the king of that city who was the ambitious Nimrod a man fiercely opposed to God and his worship and who was in fact aiming at enslaving mankind to his rule. God never approved of humans removing him from their lives and totally ignoring him. That tower (zigurat) was to be the centre of a system of worship in opposition to that handed down by Noah and that's its real meaning. That's where mankind abandoned God and has been paying the price to this day. Very soon the world became full of conflict, war, poverty, slavery, tyrrany and all injustice. Babylon came to be known as the archetypal enemy of God and his worshippers as clearly seen in Revelation.

Can you show me where this is so in the Bible? As far as I know, the ONLY translation that says Nimrod was in oppostion to Jehovah, is the NWT. Why do all the other translations describe Nimrod as him a mighty hunter before God, and nothing is mentioned of his opposition to God? Just the fact that God saw that the sons of men were building this city, and if they finished it, nothing would be impossible for them....so He then confuses their languages. A friend of mine brought this to my attention, so I thought I'd mention it....if you can find another translation that says that Nimrod was in opposition to Jehovah or the Lord, let me know... humbly, ~found

Because from the sound of your post, it sounds like you are on serious lockdown, and are only permitted to speak and associate with elders and your mother, and no one else.

I picture you in your room, with your WT publications and your NWT, all alone, or with the company of the same 3 elders. Sounds like a happy life to me.

Why do I care? Good question, guess I find it odd that someone with your obvious intelligence would choose to punish themselves for the rest of their lives in the hopes that they may find some peace of mind. You are not that little boy anymore, Fred. You do not have to keep beating yourself up. Who are You, is right. It is the JW way, not God's.

i've been trashed and bullied by one poster for posting info off the internet that i was offering to someone in need of hope.

i began a thread on the subject of whether it is right or wrong to offer hope to someone in desperate circumstances in order that the poster could see that theirs wasn't the only opinion of any value.

while most who responded were in agreement with the validity of being encouraging and offering hopeful info that can be looked into or not, it's the viewer's choice, that poster has continued his bullying, stating that i'm mentally, literally incompetent, basically stupid and irresponsible, though i'm so incompetent that i shouldn't be actually held accountable for my well-meant ignorance.

I read the incident that sparked this thread, and I know who the the person is behind the mean remarks. I will not get into name calling (altho it is tempting), but that person had NO RIGHT to tell you what you can or cannot post. You have only posted beneficial and helpful information, they happened to disagree with. Oh well, that's their problem..they should NOT of attacked you, that was completely childish and uncalled for. So many people love you here, so dont let one rude person ruin your day! That is giving them too much power.... Here's what I think: I think you're awesome!

I hope you do see the wisdom in seeking professional help.

There are qualified therapists that are Jehovah's Witnesses, and hopefully you can find one that is an elder, since it seems as though you will only listen to the counsel of one. I doubt you would listen to a therapist if she was a woman....just a hunch on my part.

As for what you said about love, my friend, that is truly remarkably sad....

If I felt as you do about love, that there is no love here on earth, and that love only means being obedient to God, then I'd be just as miserable and messed as you are. I mean you no disrespect when I say that.

I hope that you find real love and happiness, and I wish you luck on your journey.

have some of you ever seen in the organization a minesterial servant that misses meetings for weeks at a time, hardly ever preaches.

shows up occasionally for sunday meeting.

when you mention his name to other servants , no one wants to talk about it.. the reason the elders and the co don't remove him is that once a year the society needs him at bethel since he is licensed in certain trades.

Well, you saw how there are appatantly no road laws

...where she is from, guess what the driving test is?

drive down a straight road, if you can do that without driving onto the shoulder, you pass, and get your drivers licence.

The driver was not fined or penalized either, he did not know what to do when you hit a pedestrian...makes you wonder about some people's ability to use their brains...

The mother in law (of one of my good friends) was back in India, where she is from, to be with her fiance.

She was accidently run down by a motorist, and that motorist then BACKED UP and RAN HER OVER AGAIN, and then DROVE OVER HER A SECOND TIME.

No word of a lie.

She was in the hospital for 5 months, with multiple fractures, and internal injuries, barely clinging onto life....the hospital she was in wasnt fit to be called a hospital.

Her son flew to India and got her into a better hospital, as she almost died in the run down shack she was in before.
