what was the biggest "secret" that you kept from everyone when you were a witness?.

i thought would could have some fun with this topic on a friday afternoon.. back when i was an active witness i started "secretly" dating a "worldy" girl.

there was a shortage of single sisters at my hall.

As a baptized teenager, I knew about other teenagers having sex with their JW boyfriend/girlfriends, but I never told a single person that I knew....my friends told me their dirty little secrets because they knew I would keep it confedential. Not one of my friends was a virgin, including myself...only I had to appear in a JC about it.....got privately reproved.

I believed that the Great Tribulation / Big A was going to be here within a few years of 1994.

I believed that angels were with us in FS.

I believed in demons.

I believed that there would be a paradise and a resurrection of the dead.

That's just off the top of my head....

It's saturday and starbucks is packed

i just went to starbucks to grab a coffee and it is unusually packed out.

i look around a bit and notice alot of briefcases and most of the customers have pig shaves.

i walk out yek!

Jeptha's Daughter- what actuallyt happened??

i was listening to richard dawkin's talk at lynchburg va and he was tlaking about how horrible the god of the old testament was- and he mentioned this: .

that when jeptha's daughter came out (and jeptha had promised god he'd sacrifice the first thing out of his house) that he had to sacrifice her as a burnt offering.

here is the story from the New International Reader's Version:

34 Jephthah returned to his home in Mizpah. And guess who came out to meet him. It was his daughter! She was dancing to the music of tambourines. She was his only child. He didn't have any other sons or daughters.
35 When Jephthah saw her, he was so upset that he tore his clothes. He cried out, "My daughter! You have filled me with trouble and sorrow. I've made a promise to the Lord. And I can't break it."
36 "My father," she replied, "you have given your word to the Lord. So do to me just what you promised to do. The Ammonites were your enemies. And the Lord has paid them back for what they did to you.
37 "But please do one thing for me," she continued. "Give me two months to wander around in the hills. Let me sob there with my friends. I want to do that because I'll never get married."
38 "You can go," he said. He let her go for two months. She and her friends went into the hills. They were filled with sadness because she would never get married.
39 After the two months were over, she returned to her father. He did to her just what he had promised to do. And she was a virgin.
So that became a practice in Israel. 40 Each year the young women of Israel go away for four days. They do it in honor of the daughter of Jephthah. He was from the land of Gilead.

If she was to be burned as a sacrifice, she wouldn't be be mourning for her virginity, she would be mourning for her shortened life.

Just my conclusion.

nvr, you read my mind.....I guess I missed WT rule while I was in....so if a man/woman leaves his/her JW wife/husband for another man/woman, (and they never have sex with a person of opposite sex) she/he are not free to remarry scripturally at all.

How fair is that???
