So you want to brag, eh???
by LDH inok ok ok so i stole englishman's phrasing.. one thing i'd been noticing about a certain troll's posts, they seem to center around personal accomplishments.. perhaps, that's not such a bad thing.
this person obviously isn't getting any encouragement to pursue "selfish desires" by the congregation, therefore he and others feel the need to go bragging.. growing up jw doesn't exactly encourage your creativity; on the contrary it stifles artistic expression and personal growth.. so perhaps there is something that *you* can do very well (or not so well but it's still your thang as jt would say) that is very special.. we all know that dave (seven) is great at art, and tr can pick any damn lock he chooses, but what about the rest of us?.

My friend you are absoluely wrong about the 1975 fiasco. The society did say that armageddon would come in that year. They said it over and over again. We put our trust in what they told us at the meetings, at the book studies and in field service we were telling the folks that the time was very short now. Bible studies were only to last for six months because there was no time or a longer study.
Furthermore, people do not come to this board just to complain. This board is inhabited by people who have been asociated with JWs all their lives only to discover that it is not the truth at all. Talking to each other and sharing experiences is cathartic, therapeutic and its helping us all to cope.
Besides, you as a faithful JW know that it is wrong to post on these boards of so called "Apostates." So may I please have the name of your PO and the address and phone number of your kingdom hall. I would like to report to your elders just what you're doing. I am sure they will be very interested. Then we'll see who has something to complain about.

the true religion
by forgetmenot ini have heard this comment from a few jw's in the past, "i became a jehovah's witness because you'll never find anything better.
let's propose that (for a second :)) they are the closest thing to the "true religion".
didn't the bible say something like don't listen to any false profits not "find the false profit that is the closest to the truth and follow him/her"?

I've heard that many times also. The message that the witnesses bring is seductive. You will live forever in a paradise earth, no more crime, no broken families, this is the only true religion blah, blah... This message appeals to all persons who are looking for a change in their lives and from the first they are taught to believe that this is the only true religion. Then to reinforce that thought you have to attend five meetings a week, plus field service. Over time you come to believe just what they want you to believe and that is that there is no life outside of the JWs. So even if you see faults in the religion, some people don't have the will to walk away because the JWs have made them so afraid of the world outside.

biggs, part 2: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=24359&site=3.
the reason why i wanted to be a protector for my little brother was because of what happened to me and my older brother when we were kids.. you see, we had a cousin (about 5 years older than me) who was abusive toward me and my older brother (4 years older than me).

Muslims going door to door?
by RR infound this on the net:.
"speaking with a british accent and dressed in traditional robes under a ragged blue overcoat, udeen told newsweek he had converted to islam eight years ago.
when i was a non-muslim, the people i used to go to clubs with were all muslims, he says.

Hi RR: Its no secret that Christendom has long admired the fact that JWs were able to get their members to go from door to door spreading their message. Many of them have sought to emulate that practice. They know what Russell knew and that is that the cheapest, most effective way to advertise your message is to carry it from door to door. There is a direct correlation between the growth of the WBTS and the door to door work. That this means is effective can be attested to by any Amway or Fuller Brush salesman. However, I bet they are unaware of the hoops we have to jump through for the "privilege" of engaging in this door to door work, i.e., quotas, counting time, weekly sales meetings, buying literature, etc.
