as a loyal witness i would never have done anything on a tuesday night except attend the group study.. when i was at school it was a definate no to after school activities on a tuesday (though it was much the same for other nights of the week as well).
then i would never go to any night classes on a tuesday, which somewhat limits access to higher education.
never stayed in to watch tv no matter what was on..
Actually Tuesday night was the Ministry School and Service Meeting because we had two congregations meeting at the same KH.

I once wanted to take my puppy to obedience classes, but the only one available was on Tuesday night so I did not. Wish I could do it over and take my dog.
i was a dyed in the wool jw.
he was a 'call' turned over to me by my best friend when he headed off to bethel in '73.. the first time i called there, i nearly gagged with the filthy living conditions.
i hate the religion of jehovah's witnesses.
Definitely there are some people who are helped by it. I totally agree with that. I feel that my mother is one who was helped. She had a violent schizophrenic father and an alcoholic adulterous mother. Her brothers and sisters were all alcoholic but one, who died at an early age of cervical cancer. My mother needed something to help her escape from what would very likely have been a very bad, probably alcoholic life. To convince her that the religion is wrong, especially at the age of 77, would take away something that has been of benefit and joy to her and would probably make her feel totally hopeless.
The Watchtower does great damage to families and i think there are those who need to be helped out of it, but not everyone.
please do not try it - the balance of the thread will explain.
i am locking this thread and letting it fade away, but those who read it should see that there are some problems by some that i did not experience before i posted the thread.
i have notified admin to address the email/identity issues.
What is the web address for JWN? Oompa asked, too, so would someone tell us, please? Thanks.
he was trying to sell obama's seat plus a bunch of other shakedown schemes using his union contacts and control of state funding.
I did not vote for Obama and preferred to see McCain get the office, but I truly do not believe Rod Blagovich's arrest reflects in any way on Obama. Good ole' Rod is a Democratic machine politician born and bred, spawn of Chicago unions. I read that he did not want to appoint who Obama wanted because that person would not be willing to pay for the position.
Now that Obama is in office, I do support him wholeheartedly. My biggest issue with him was gun control.
happy turkey day everyone... the one thing i can be grateful about this year is that i am over a year out of the borg.... that was a huge milestone.. i have only distant relatives close by and wont be able to travel this year to be with my brothers (who live 5 and 8 hours away) or mom (11 hours away).
just no time or money to travel this year.. i did receive an invitation to spend turkey day dinner with a jwder and their family, but this year i think i am just going to coccoon the next couple of days... .
(i am very very grateful that they thought of me to extend the invite.
We are going to my husband's sister's house. Not my favorite thing to do, but there it is. Black Friday, I am working all day and since I work at home, I will stay completely out of the whole thing. Shopping on Black Friday is also not a favorite thing of mine to do. Both of my daughters in law plan to shop till they drop on Friday, though.
ya a beautiful fall day here....trees ablaze with color...and a slight drizzle...me sippin yummy coffee...wife crammin her bookstudy book, then off to meeting and service........god she dresses up a lot!....i fogot how much i did that.....i have about $2000,00 of suits getting dusty in my closet if anybody needs a 42 long btw......so i just asked myself and sooo wanted to ask my wife "why are you really going out in service today?
".......and there are many automatic jw answers:.
1. jesus said we must go and make disciples, and it is the loving thing to do..........2. because the time is short and have to save as many as possible......3. because we love our neighbors ( but i cant frikin have them over for a grillout!).........
"my wife has not had a study in probalby 25 years....if ever....in our dozen years not once has she even got anyone to a meeting! How many do you know that have ever had a study, much less got anyone baptized? "
The last time I had a study with anyone, it was just plain a burden. It was a couple, man and wife. The service overseer told me that I could not study with them because of there being a man. Well, let me tell you, turning it over to a brother was quite unsuccessful. Three different brothers I tried and they at least went once each, two of them more than that, but I ended up back with it.
When I was young, I remember an urgency about the service that I never saw in later years. I remember going out in service back when I was in my late teens and early 20's with a real sense of purpose. Also, there were no breaks taken back then. You got in there and did what you were there to do.
In recent years, service seemed more of a social event to me than anything else. Not to myself, but that seemed to be how others viewed it. There was always a lot of time wasting and aimless meandering. And quitting early. I guess everyone has to make it as painless on themselves as possible.
Snakes, remember when that same German hag and her husband kept the thermostat turned so low at the KH all the time that everyone but her froze because she was having hot flashes? And a note was put on the thermostat that no one was to change it. People were wearing winter coats in the middle of summer.
i've mentioned this to a few jwd friends but haven't posted it.
on september 1, 2008 me and my wife (who posts here as 'amber rose') had a baby boy.
