my mom has been a jw since 1970. my dad, who died in 1994, became a dub in 1971. i have told parts of that story elsewhere on the board.. my mom remarried a couple of years later to a non-jw.
my stepfather and i get along very well, despite his background (cussin', former hell's angel, former navy seal, smoker)...generally quite rough..but underneath a decent guy.. i just called down to my mom's today...about 11am... stepdad answers.... where is my mom?
he says: "out doing her thing..." i say: "oh, you mean door knocking?
So sorry to hear this, Rich. It is too bad your mom is so brainwashed. I feel sympathy for your stepfather, too. Your mom has no idea how uncaring toward her husband it is to spend all this time in field circus instead of spending time with him. Of course, the borg teaches them to be uncaring.
Hang in there. And tell Toni life is too short to worry about other people's issues. Even if your mom blames her in some way, you both know the truth. And you had left before you and Toni got together.

Today, 6% go to Mass in the cities, most of the population is atheist. And there are now about 30,000 JWs." I find this comment very interesting. 97% of the population in Quebec was CAtholic - today 6% go to mass in the cities. I bet this is another huge lie. My husband and I have been attending the Catholic church he grew up in and it is very well attended, almost full to capacity at every weekend mass - don't know about during the week as I don't go then. Also, other churches in this area appear to be very well attended also. The people at the Catholic church we attend are very active in the faith activities provided by the church and are clearly very devout. Many extended families and young people raising their children attend regularly. JW's lie about the churches and their attendance to convince their members that they are the only ones with God's blessing. So, so wrong.

obviously, most of us know that flipper always respond to everybody's posts everytime he starts a topic, i think he is the only one on this board that will respond to everyone in his own threads.
i would think it would be too much work for me or anyone here on this board to respond to everyone.
is that a good thing or bad thing?
I love the way Mr. Flipper responds to everyone. He seems to be such a kind person and has such a positive, caring attitude. I think he is a great guy. I know I don't post much, but I have my favorites on here and Mr. Flipper is definitely at the top of the list.

i know some posters here went through or are going through some painful things right now because of no longer believing when they have a husband / wife that still does.
others were able to free the minds of their spouse.
i'm assuming the latter is a lot more rare.. anyone that wishes to share their story, please do.. i'm looking to pass the info on to someone who doesn't totally believe, but may marry a jw.
My husband was not a JW and he was positively delighted when I quit the borg. Our marriage has gotten better and better without the JW religion in the way. Now we attend the Catholic church together.

i dont post or even read on here nearly as often as i did in the early days of my exit from the watchtower.
much has happened since i walked away from "the truthtm" and when i can get a few minutes i will post an update.
i also owe freeminds a story...one i have to rewrite after losing my hard drive.
Our situation is the same, except turned around. I am the hot one, Pat is the cold one. I bought a dual control electric blanket for our bed, so that helps at night. My side is never turned on and the blanket is usually thrown off of me, but his is up around 8. He knows I cannot sleep if I am too hot, and if I cannot sleep I toss and turn and it disturbs his sleep. But I know that the actual in bed is not the problem at your house.
I keep our thermostat to about 64 to 66 at night. I know it must be hard on Pat when he gets up in the morning, but he doesn't complain. I guess I am the one getting my way in this. I do sometimes turn the thermostat up for him during the day if he is cold, but he's good to try to put on more clothes to get warm and drink some hot tea or coffee to warm up. I have to say, Pat is very patient and gracious about this situation.
