I just hand out candy to some neighbor kids. For many years, nobody ever came back on this street trick-or-treating. Very dark back here and only 4 houses. But a fellow who grew up around the corner moved into the neighborhood with his family and they have been coming to trick or treat for several years now. The first year they came, I was not ready for them - did not expect anyone as usual. Fortunately my college-age son had some pixie sticks tucked away that we gave them. Now I am make sure I am ready with candy, but I don't dress up.

Can You Now Clearly See That You Were In A Cult?
by minimus inthe longer away from "the truth", the easier it is to see that i was in a "cult"..

Thankfully, I can clearly see that now. It was a painful transition to make at first, but this board helped me to keep it real concerning the Watchtower Society and their JW religion. For that, I am eternally grateful.

Lady Lee, congratulations on your 25 years out. I left in the mid-70's for 8 years - disfellowshipped and wanted nothing to do with it, but made the big mistake of going back. Now I have not been to a meeting in about 4 years, don't know exactly how long, and am making my life what I want it to be. I wish I was like you and had all that time out, but no use crying over spilled milk.
Mouthy, your husband wasn't a prophet. He was observant and was commenting on what he saw. For an organization that claims to have such love, and claims they are true followers of Christ because they have that love, they sure don't show love. Taking care of widows is certainly not something they do, unless of course the widow has lots and lots of money to throw around.

Got a visit from door-to-door JW's!
by donuthole intoday while i was home for a quick lunch break i got a knock at the door.
i opened the door and was surprised to see two elderly jehovah's witnesses women.
i haven't been called on since i've been out for four years, so this was a bit of surprise.

Snakes and Donuthole were both very caring witnesses. Snakes took time for the elderly and the downtrodden, and Donuthole and his wife reached out to the elderly and downtrodden. I think being the kind of people they are is why they can no longer be part of the borg. They are too good for that.

We have not gotten any J-dub calls in years. Pretty much everyone in the local congregation knows I live here and generally never did come to my door unless they needed to use the bathroom or wanted to say hi, but there are three other houses on this street and they never go to them either. I have seen them on the next street before, but not for several years. Maybe more people are turning in time and not going out.

donuthole,
I hope my family says "hi" back to you when you greet them. I am doing well. Hope you and your family are also.
Snakes,
It's great to not care any more and be able to put my name out there on this board. Good for you for reaching that point also.

donuthole,
I know that sister, too. Very sweet lady and were it not for the fact you are df'd, she would have hugged you and been excited to see you and find out what is going on with you. How sad that she is so misguided as to follow the dictates of the Watchtower Society. Good for you in acting how the Spirit has taught you. JW's are taught to act totally in opposition to the Spirit and don't even realize it.

I'm with you, Moshe. Religion is all man-made, just like the Bible.

"The fact is throughout human history religious beliefs have been under attack, right back to biblical times.
One cultural civilization opposing another civilizations religious spiritual beliefs."
For sure - religion has been one of the biggest reasons for fomenting war that there ever has been. Even looking at the history of Indian tribes in the Americas, there was a lot of warfare that was conducted to wipe the other tribe's religion out. Of course it was tied up in that they needed the approval of the gods to give them what they needed to grow food and survive and they felt if someone had a false god that the gods would punish them by withholding rain and causing natural disasters. But religion has always been under attack.
