I have a pretty good poker face. I'd say "what?" and be persistent until I got an answer out of the person. Actually it's pretty funny, i forgot that I had that username stored on my instant messenger and my friend used it at my house. Bam, there's Stillgroggy.
Turns out that he's been secretly inactive. So if I'm lucky, he's on here and he knows I'm SG, and I have a friend who really knows who I am. But I won't get my hopes up. -

by anewme inthis afternoon i heard on national public radio that poet/songwriter patti smith will be inducted into the musical hall of fame later this week.
an interview with terri gross from 1996 detailed her early life as a jehovah's witness.
she spoke respectfully of the jws and her memory of her mother and father and early family life, but spoke candidly that she did not like the teachings and restrictions and never felt she fit in.

Specific banned shows, songs, etc...?
by AllAlongTheWatchtower ini know the society tells people not to listen to rock n roll cause its from teh satan, not to watch r rated movies because they're "worldly", etc.
but i was wondering if folks had any specific instances where one song, one show, one movie, or whatever was singled out as being particularly 'evil', and banned on an individual basis?
i was never a jw, but was in the worldwide church of god...the two are rather similar, i've seen many (and made quite a few myself) comparisons on the board; and i can remember as a child that every once in a while certain things would get brought up as being more evil and worldly than others.. examples of specific bans:.

Anything else, sheez. Sorry, I know this isn't a good answer, I'm just venting. Rev Climax is the biggest piece of speculative bullshit I've ever read in my life. It even admits it in the first chapter, that this "may" mean this, etc.
However, the penalty for going contrary to it is still disfellowshipping, so this is just doublespeak. Their speculation is law, violation of that law being punishable by "eternal" death.
