this years "follow the christ" dc looks like it is going to be focused on avoiding all those evil apostates and their falsehoods, judging by some of the dc talks listed on the back of the june 2007 awake!
do not follow false teachers .
do not follow false stories .
Do Not Follow False Teachers
Do Not Follow False Stories
Keep Following The Lamb Wherever He Goes
My Sheep Listen To My Voice ... and They Follow Me
Help Them Return To The Flock
Interesting. I wonder which one of those will be the main discourse for Sunday afternoon???
And don't forget the concluding prayer which lasts about 20 minutes.
Amen brother...
addressing a large audience in 1976,president franz asked, ' do you know why nothing happened in 1975?
it was because you expected something to happen.'.
i would have stood up walked right out if i was present.. jakes.
Hey it's not THEIR fault that everybody misunderstood what THEY were trying to say...
Typical GB BS...
where to begin?
i hope this will serve as my introduction to this group.
(hope im in the right section.
For me there was a long period of adjustment. Fear, loneliness, guilt, and depression seemed to be constant companions as I made my way through the post-JW fog.
Welcome to the board TM!
I suffered through these same things after I left too. I'm not sure that you can ever get over the JWs, but it is possible to move on with your life. As it appears that you have done. It does take time, but it is possible to move on.
Glad you found your way here!!!
national times newswire - april 14, 2007. .
watchtower headquarters unveils new roller derby rink.
by arthur - times staff writer.
What's the Watchtower world coming to:
"Rolling Rahabs", "Door to Door Divas", "Submissive Mates on Skates" and the "Thunder Thigh Theocrats".
What's next, " Kinky Kanaanites???"
were you discriminated against for any reason in the "christian congregation"?
Yes, they definately gave me a hard time because I was attending college. I was still able to make all the meetings, put in several hours in field service, handle the Kingdom Hall sound systems and drive the friends around in field service. All this even though I was going to college full time and working a part time job. I pushed myself constantly to never miss a beat at my congregation and to become a Ministerial Servant. I used to go full steam on 4 hours of sleep a night, every week!
But lots of "friends" turned their noses up at me. There were whispers that I was "materialistic".The elders began criticizing me on everything. My talks, the field ministry. Once I read the Watchtower at the Sunday meeting. At the end of the meeting an elder approached me and actually complained to me that I mispronounced a word!!!
All that finally led me to see the "new light" and I left.
i thought it would be polite if i just introduced myself.
i am a former jehovah's witness that left studying a few years back for the purpose of solace and grace in my life, freedom from the hypocrisy of men, and the teachings which the bible does not correspond with.
i have since adopted a more simple way of living, and no longer have to worry about ring around the collar, or that book study that i never read ahead for.
Glad to hear that you escaped Creeper!
Welcome!!!
Good job Buttlight! It's a great comparison!!!
I hope Brooke got paid for the photoshoot!!!
i liked saturdays because i never went out in the field service that day, and there was no meeting that day also.
.
i kept the field service for the week days, when less people were at home.. .
My favorite day of the week back then was any Saturday that I was too sick to go out in Field Service.
Got to stay home and watch the morning cartoons like the "normal" kids did!!!
can you guys give me some examples of some of the flickers of light?
a jw threw the "the light gets brighter" thing at me and i want to ask what it means when they flip flop between yes and no on issues.
Let's see. How about their prediction that Armageddon would be here before the "generation of 1914" passed away. Then in a November 1995 issue of the Watchtower, they redefined what "generation" meant.
Or how about their 'end of the world' predictions: 1914, 1915, 1925, 1942, 1975.
