the tribulation is really starting to speed up it's pace.
i just read that atleast 3 types of animal and plant life go extinct every hour.
global warming threatens the entire planet, crimes against women and children are at a all time high, honeybees dying off for unexplained reasons, the threat of nuclear war, the ravage of infectious disease.
Oh my! I better quit my job, sell my house and become a full time pioneer tomorrow. This "Good News" really needs to be spread!
hmmm...anyone know where I can pick up the latest copies of the Watchtower & Awake! for Field Service tomorrow?
What's that??? Great...Gotta run guys...Ebay's having a sale on WTS literature!!!
i went to a used cd store tonight.
i was like a kid in a candy store.
they had a lot of the old records that i threw away because of a cult, now on cd.
When we decided to part with a Queen album, I remember sitting in the living room with "another one bites the dust" on the turntable. We spun it backwards and swore we heard it say "decide to smoke marajuana". Goes to show you what your imagination can do when your all reved up.
LMAO hmmm...are you sure you guys weren't smokin a doobie at the time?? lol I often wondered if the WTS actually listened to what was "backmasked" onto that Queen song?? At least I did replace all my Led Zep LPs with CDs recently. That "devil" music really sounds good!!!
... i'm now a jedi!.
woo hoo - it's only taken me over two years!
lol.
Congrats BB! Keep up the good work!
I'm only like 846 posts behind you!!!

Around 1980, my dub hubby and I bought the brand new Queen album. It was "another one bites the dust" with a silver cover. Shortly after we heard it had backmasking on it, so we decided we must destroy it.
LOL And I thought that I was the only one who smashed up my Queen album!
I also tried playing it backwards too. Didn't sound like, "I love to smoke marijuana ," to me!!!
i don't.
it's not that i won't.
funny thing, is i've collected over 100 different bible versions and translations..
Ironically, yes, I've been reading it alot lately, but for research purposes. I hadn't picked up a Bible in years till recently. I'm also reading the "God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. Dawkins mentions parts of the Bible that people use as proof of God's existence. I've been reading the four gospels about Jesus.
It's funny, but did any of us actually read the Bible when we were witnesses? I seem to recall that the primary function of the Bible was to look up a scripture that appeared in the Watchtower or one of the WTS books. But rarely did we ever read the surrounding context of the scriptures. I seem to recall that the Society instructed us not to read just the Bible, because we wouldn't understand it.
apologies if you all have read this before.. watchtower 1952 15th april pages 254-256. it is the woman that is commanded to show respect and recognition of the mans position of headship, and women who rebel at it are not so much rebelling against men as they are against god.gen.
3:16; 1 cor.
11:2-10; eph.
"What custom does exist whereby women show respect to men? The absence of any is not just by chance, but is by satanic design to untheocratically elevate the woman above the man."
Huh???!!! Sounds like more BS from the WTS that justifies their disrepect of women...amazing!!!

is it possible that this guy doesnt know that bin laden is in afghanistan?.
Of course Bush is an idiot.
Amen to that brother!!!
a few years before i left the jws for good, i broke off a relationship with my worldly girlfriend.
we were in love, but i ended it because i felt guilty and wanted to be a good dub.
then about three years after we broke up, i left the org.
I met my soulmate in High School but wouldn't date him because he wasn't JW. Fortunately we reconnected - 30 years later - and are now happily married.
Thanks for sharing that LisaRose!!! Way to go!!! And congrats to you and your hubby, for reconnecting after all those years!!!

I can see that, just like so many other issues and experiences on this board, I'm not alone!!! Thanks everyone for your responses.
I think the worst part of it all was after I had finally gotten over the relationship, my ex-girlfriend got in touch with me again! She just wanted to see how my life was going (not great at the time, I was very, very single!) She told me that she was now married and had a little girl. She was happy she said. While I was happy for her, I felt sorry for myself. I went out that night and got drunk! I kept wondering about what MIGHT have been!!!
Eventually I got over it, but it took time. I think this is just another example of how the JWs screw up people's lives!!!
