  how many speaker follies can you guys remember?

  i remember myself giving a presentation on the talking ass in numbers 22 once.

  Hi gang. How many speaker follies can you guys remember? I remember myself giving a presentation on the talking ass in Numbers 22 once. I couldn't help but smirk in a few of those scriptures. When I look back on those 5 minute assignments I can't help but laugh at this one. Verses 27 and and 28 made me giggle on more then one occasion.

  Welcome a newbie, "Butters"!

  i couldn't help notice there was a newbie posting one of the other threads, and that he had the photo of "butters" from south park and the screen name "butters".

  i laughed out loud immediately.

  butters in south park definetly seems like the guilible type to have been a jw.

  I really didn't have too many bad experiences like so many others that I have herd about. I mainly had problems with the 144,000 concept. When the society made that change in 95' I think, with the separating of the sheep and goats is when I started looking elsewhere for truth. I was no longer at that point in my life, in "the truth". I was in "the flux compacitor of an ever changing magazine publishing company devoted to mass production of print". When I left I just told them I had enough of their doctrine. My parents who are both Roman Catholics were very well pleased and said "This day, we have begotten thee". Now I know what that means. Uhh, I think, yeah.

  What other religions predicted a date for the end of the world?

  this is an argument that i have had with some jws, who claim that if jehovah hadnt been behind the organisation then the organization would have petered out after doctrinal changes, failed predictions, etc.

  the idiotic example of a cult that did this was the peoples temple cult (well what do you explect if all the members commit suicide?).

  also it is claimed that the fact that jehovah's witnesses still exist as a religion proves that they were never obsessed with dates for the end of the end of the world (1925, etc), because if they were then everyone would have left.

  I always thought it was strange that they never bothered to listen to the annointed one on this matter. Matthew 24:36 and Acts 1:6,7 for instance. If the organization was truly a bible believing entity then it would have never been so brazen about trying to calculate the impossible.

Anyway I just wanted to say it is great to be here on this site. Didn't know there were this many ex-borgs alive still in one place. Wonderful. I have a question for you guys. IN that TV show "Without a Trace" where the little boy was missing and there was a sicko trying to molest him, there was a song in the show that I liked and cannot find. I wish I could tell you more, but the lyrics go something like "i won't be there at all, on this morning" or something. Anybody know it?

  i was at the grocery store, wheeling a cart about 1/4 full.

  the desire to have some cigarettes was so overwhelming that i avoided my family members with me at the store, grabbed two packs of my favorite brand of cigarettes and hid them under the growing pile of items in my cart.. it was about that time that i woke up.

  and very briefly, until i came to my senses, i felt that it was no use to even try if i was going to be so weak as to sabotage my own efforts to be strong..

  Now they simply need to produce a film or documentary about abusive JW's which I feel are far worse then the Catholic Diocese on handling matters of this importance within the church.

  Hare Krishna Everyone! I left the WT a few years back but just now got online again. Good to see so many here that have opened their minds and decided to be free thinkers. I personally do believe that much of the "bible" is the word of the Creator (no need to use a false word like "god" to describe it's essence) but there are also men that wrote what they saw, heard, and thought about the spirit that can provide different viewpoints just like we are sharing here. Think about it. Those people were expressing themselves in that book just like you are here today. Why criticize a book that so many have hated, stomped on, burned and tried to stop? I wouldn't like it if the government tried to take away "to kill a mockingbird" from my bookshelf, since it's one of my favorites. But lately there has been one thing going on in the world that the bible is definitely right about. A lack of LOVE. Glad to be hear guys.

  Yes those strange dreams we have sometimes are shocking and so real. They mean something though.
