i took my mother a plate of food today, thanksgiving dinner.
she won't cook it because it's, well, thanksgiving, but she was sitting there waiting for me to bring her a plate of turkey and dressing.
i came in and said, "mom, i brought you some food.
I didn't need to snoop in my mom's bedroom. She left her time slip laying in the middle of the dining room table.
On the last one I saw she had entered 15 minutes. Whenever any family stops by that is not a JW she finds a way to start preaching and then counts her minutes.
That keeps her an active dub and secures her place in paradise.
i have come to realize that being gay is something you are just born with....so why judge them if it's like being born a certain race.. a brother g_____ i knew was a zealous pioneer pushing 43 years old.
he never married though the sisters thought he was dreamy and he had plenty of offers....."she's not for me" he would always, many times tell me some excuse.
he loved to give only brothers a big hug...say if you gave a public talk or something.
I have a first cousin that was born gay and 3rd gen JW. He tried to be a JW but has not been very active in the last several years.
Unfortunately, he was rather offended when I sent him the link to www.gayxjw.com. I thought he might find some comfort there.
It was like no one was supposed to know he was gay. There was no hiding it. He even used to try to get my daughter to go to the gay bars with him when he was visiting.
Guess I wasn't supposed to know about that.

If he gave her the congregation info, don't be surprised if he is contacted by the BOE of his congregation counseling him for making the request.

The WTS was telling people back in the 1940s not to have babies because Armageddon was so close. I have reminded my mother of that a couple times and asked why she didn't do what the Society told her to do and not have babies. She blames it all on my father.
They now have 10 grandkids and 7 great-grandkids and 2 more on the way. Will probably be great-great-grandkids before long.
Maybe you could hint to your sister she could 'forget' to take her pills or something.

i visited phoenix when i was a kid and fell in love with the hot desert and big city.. i haven't been back since, so i'd like your take on phoenix now.. i've given up on houston, tx cuz it doesn't sound as nice as the desert..
I moved to the west suburbs of Phoenix a couple years ago. I hate the summer heat but like Gayle said, 8 or 9 months of the year is fine. Right now it is just about perfect. Still in the high 80s or low 90s during the day but the evenings & mornings are just perfect.
The only way to tolerate the heat is to stay inside when it's so hot. A few weeks ago I went about 1 1/2 hrs north to Prescott & Prescott Valley. It's much cooler up that way and a perfect get away from the heat. Sedona was good too. Haven't made it to Flagstaff yet.
I lived in Houston (Clear Lake area) for about 6 years until 2005 and loved being able to go down to Galveston and walk or ride my bike on the seawall. I certainly can't get out and ride my bike here in the desert in the summer time. The first winter I was here we had a short very cold spell that killed a lot of the plants. I hear that is very unusual.
Haven't seen the black widow spiders or rattle snakes - neighbors have had both in their yards. We have found two scorpions inside the house. The first one freaked me out and I was up all night on the computer trying to find out how to get rid of them. Since then, I went on a scorpion hunt one night up at Lake Pleasant (NW of Phoenix). Hundreds of those critters all along the trail that night!!! They really do glow in the dark under a black light.
There are also frogs that can kill dogs. So far one dog has died and another injured by biting on the frogs in this community. And don't forget the tarantulas. Saw one in the grocery store parking lot the first fall I was here.
The coyotes come through our community all the time. Love to hear them howling at night. The night skies are beautiful too - saw falling stars the last two nights.

i am well aware that it makes no difference,as the bible nowhere gives us 2520 years,but i am fed up with his assertions and would like to blow this one out of the water so i can ask him to please check his facts.. only help if you really have time ,it's not life or death.. many thanks.

I would suggest requesting that he furnish you names & links to those scholars. If he is making that claim he should be able to back it up.

Purps, this is a good story. I read it a long time ago and enjoyed it again. It may not be exactly accurate but it shows how unfair our tax system is.
As a matter of fact, Snopes does not address whether it is accurate or not. They only say it was not written by the Univ of GA professor or another professor it was credited to. They have not determined for sure who did write it.
