No worries lp. I thought I should clarify in case others misunderstood who was wearing the gloves in July! I think that summer Crazy ended up going out in the misery service by herself because no one wanted to be seen with her dressed as she was.

The lunatic fringe
by FreeGirl2006 ini am usually a lurker here, but i got a blast from the past yesterday and it prompted me to post on here.
my former sister-in-law is part of the lunatic fringe that even most die-hard dubs cringe at.. so i received some business correspondence from ms. looney toons yesterday and at the very bottom is the note "read your bible daily.
" i started remembering some of the crazy she inflicted on all of us around her.

@ lp--the mother wore the gloves. My ex saw her without the gloves and no bruising, no anything to explain the gloves. He asked her what was up with it and she told him that she wished everyone at the Hall would quit bugging her about them, she just wanted to wear them.

So I received some business correspondence from Ms. Looney Toons yesterday and at the very bottom is the note "Read your bible daily." I started remembering some of the crazy she inflicted on all of us around her. She would show up at school for lunch every day for her teen daughter so she would not be tempted to have bad association, she would take the phone cord with her when she left the house (re:teen daughter), she wore full length gloves and rain boots out in service (well, everywhere actually) during the height of summer in the mid-west for no known reason. She would show up at my house when I was newly married and just sit on the couch. I guess I should explain that during lunch, my ex and I would meet at home for some time alone and she would pop in every single freakin day and just sit on the couch and stare at us.
Her teen daughter moved in with the ex and I for a while (else she was going to run away). My niece-in-law started to actually smile and act like a normal teen (and sadly I was able to even get her to participate in the meetings willingly--wonder if she ever forgave me that). Well Psycho-mom just couldn't handle the lovely changes in her daughter and put an end to the arrangement forcing her to move back home and niece became depressed and morose once again. Psycho-mom decided she needed to home school the teen and her youngest daughter and she mostly used JW pubs (not sure how that worked with state regs, but she seemed to get away with it). Psycho-mom is not well educated so the quality of that home schooling is beyond awful. The youngest child (aged 8 at the time) begged me one day not to send her home with her mom--I cried.
We thankfullly moved away from the Crazy, but she rears her psychotic head in my life every once in a while. I hope the youngest will eventually have an opportunity to be a normal socialized person, but I think the damage is rather deep. I wonder if I did enough, but there were no signs of physical abuse, just whacked out emotional abuse due to lack of parenting. Maybe I should have called social services at the time? We all tried to temper her psychosis with a semblance of normality when we had the girls away from their mother.
Anyone else have some lunatic fringe in their dub closet?

Apparently, a judge in FL agrees with the consensus here--warning of a speed trap is an exercise of first amendment rights (kudos to the judge!):

Why we really SHOULD trust the Governing Body...
by cedars inthis well-reasoned youtube video explains it all.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwjm5d9m1lm.
it seems that, in my haste to scrutinize the teachings of the governing body and see whether they are actually in line with bible teachings, i have overlooked one important factor which indicates that they really can be trusted as those "taking the lead" in god's organization..... ...apparently, their weekly meetings sometimes run past 5 o'clock!!
i would like to apologise for any undue criticism i may have levelled at the governing body on this forum or elsewhere.. if i had been aware of the above information, i would obviously have been far more willing to humbly accept their leadership.. .

Wow--telling someone they are barely in the "Truth" TM is showing love? Guess they are a very loving organization business piece of sh*t afterall! The speaker must have a Kool-Aid TM IV.

I slept-drove, shopped and apparently bought stuff, had conversations that I never remembered, and get this--apparently was so hopped on all the prescription meds (Ambien being just one of them) at the time--took a vacation with the then hubby that I remember nothing about. I found some photos when we were going through the divorce and called him to find out if he wanted them because I thought they were his. Turns out they were from a vacation I have absolutely no memory of taking with him. I guess he could have lied about that, but I couldn't see the point.

Question? Do you know of any statutory rape, or Child Molestation cases handled as Consensual sex (fornication) by Jehovahs Witnesses Judicial Committees?
by Balaamsass ini was talking about this with the mrs., and we can recount at least half dozen cases in the last 20 years of adult j.w.
men having sex with teenage boys or girls.
not only were the police not informed, but also the victim was treated as a guilty party in fornication.

Facing the 3 creeps for the committee is like getting raped again. I was 10 years old at the time and not allowed to have my mother with me. I had to describe what the step-creep did to me. One of the questions they asked me was if I was sure I didn't mistake what he did for affection. Seriously? Although, perhaps in their sordid lives, forced penetration is affection. I stopped talking at that point. I could tell they were determined from the outset not to believe one of their own could be so sick. They ruled that step-creep couldn't be guilty because he cried and I didn't. Bastards! Mom was counseled not to go to the police and being a good dubbie she didn't.

'Dinah Gets Into Trouble' - Does Story 20 Mean Rape = Fornication?
by sd-7 ini was listening, albeit unwittingly, to a 'my book of bible stories' tape and this statement caught me by surprise.
it's found in story 20:.
"one day when dinah came to visit, shechem took dinah and forced her to lie down with him.

Sadly, I know two sisters (I guess they are still in) who were raped and df'd. One was df'd because if her skirt has been over her knees the rape would never have happened (plus she got pregnant from the rape and what kind of example would that set????). The other sickening df'ing took place because the mother did not scream. She was in the car with her daughter. Her daughter was handcuffed to the steering wheel and the rapist had a gun. He said he would shoot the daughter if the mother did anything to try to stop him.
That attitude just spills over onto abuse victims (at least it did in my case). One of the reasons I count my blessings to be out every single day!

"Dress Code" for JW Funeral / Memorial Service
by Honeybadger inso, i'm attending a funeral for someone that was in the local congregation today.. i told my mom what i planned on wearing- a cute, dark grey blouse and some nicely tailored black pants.
she just about lost it.. mom- "you can't wear pants, it's at the kingdom hall!!!".
mom- "well, i guess you could, but you would feel so awkward and uncomfortable.

FreeGirl2006
I was a Dub most of my life and never saw a woman wearing pants to a meeting or funeral. I think a woman would have been burned at the stake for that fashion faux pas.
I say wear what you feel comfortable in and that is respectful. Pant suits cover more than dresses do.
