That is funny! Did she learn to open the door or did she sneak in when you weren't looking? My cat likes to hide too, but she has never made it into the fridge.

What Positive Things Have You Achieved Since Leaving?
by sweet pea inpurps' wonderful thread about love made me wonder about something else.
what have you achieved/become since leaving the organisation that proves there is a happy, successful life outside being a jehovah's witness?
for me, although it's only been a very short time, too short to achieve much, i count becoming: non-judgemental of my fellow man; a mum that can give her kids all the room to grow and blossom without fear of 'sinning' or being kicked out for bad behaviour; a person that can feel comfortable worshipping in a church or not, depending on whatever i feel like doing; someone who can love and give freely and celebrate life in all it's glory (i just love birthdays!

A life, a BBA, dating some interesting men, a small group of genuine friends who care about me no matter what & vice versa. The list could go on. I enjoy life each day rather than looking into a tunnel into a future in Stepford Paradise.

Photuris Female / Photinus Male and the Watchtower
by Blueblades insomething i read about.
photuris is a killer female of one genus of firefly.
she plays a deadly trick on the males of another firefly genus, photinus.. understandably, the photinus males scrupulously avoid contact with the bloodthirsty photuris females.. but through the centuries of experience, the female hunters have located a weakness in their prey, a special blinking courtship code by which members of the victims' species tell one another they are ready to mate.. somehow, the photuris female has cracked the photinus courtship code.

I finally took my stand.
by Orgull ini just missed two meetings for the first time in five years.. this past week i went "on vacation", housesitting for relatives nearby.
i told my bookstudy overseer i'd be "away", even though i was only a twenty minute drive from the kingdom hall.
i spent the entire week away from my insane family, away from the meetings and away from my "brothers and sisters".. it felt great.. coming home felt... not so great.. but the first brick in my fade has been laid.

What ever pace you choose, it is important to build a support system completely outside the borg realm. This is a great place to start--you can blow steam here & keep the facade up in the dublife.

I spoke with one of my dub siblings this morning (this sib has been talking to me recently). This is how the conversation went:
Sib: Do you know about the rumors circulating about you?
Me: Nope
Sib: Could your ex be starting them?
Me: Tell me what is being said and I might have a clue.
Sib: You are going to be furious! I was furious and I went off on the person who told me.
Me: I doubt I will get furious.
Sib: It is going around that you are hanging with known apostates and you have been protesting against the [dubs].
Me: *laughing* Really? That is pretty interesting...I moved away from that congregation and town, I never see anyone from there, I live a quiet life and I am too busy to preach for or against the [dubs]. *more laughing* Don't these people have better things to discuss? I have been df'd for a little over a year now & I was inactive years before that happened. Anyway, I don't think the ex is spreading that, but the couple who was spreading rumors about my marriage right before and immediately after the d'fing is probably behind it. Who cares? I don't. Sorry you guys were needlessly upset, but I can't remember the last time I picketed anything much less a KH.
So, my guess is that perhaps these fine outstanding dubs are lurking on this forbidden site and stumbled across one of my posts and guessed who I was. (So if you are reading this you gossipmongers...according to the strict guidelines of the GB you are hanging out with known apostates too AND you are a couple of hypocrites to boot). I just think it is so childish to spread rumors when they have more serious things to discuss like the end of the world and mass destruction of non-dubs and then there is that whole "true- Christian-brotherhood-we-are-better-than-anyone-else" concept to preach about.
Can you feel the "Christian" love radiating from the dubs when you hear crap like this? What about you? Ever had a similar situation? -

I had lunch with my stepson today. This is not a regular or typical occurrence as he is pretty well indoctrinated into the dubs. I am separated (& close to divorce) from his father. At the height of our difficulties, the ex would run to the elders and tell them things about me. I assume it was that I was having doubts, in addition to implying that I had cheated on him. I really don't know because I was pretty well done with the dubs at that point. I just know that he was a regular seat warmer at the meetings. He gave a good impression of being a faithful Christian (the reality was far from it, but hey--I was the one not attending the meetings so what did I know?).
So it came up in conversation with stepson that his father has ceased to attend the meeting altogether for the last 4 months. I can't explain the weird feeling inside me after hearing that. This is a man who hounded me to confess my "sins" to the elders against the advice of my therapist (that story is my first thread on this board if you are that interested in the background) and now he is not even active? Good for him for getting out of the borg, but it just seems strange to me. I know he was seeing someone when I finally moved out of the house and perhaps that has heated up to the point that his "conscience" won't allow him to attend the meetings any longer. I think it may be sadness I am really feeling because I was hoping that he really hadn't cheated on me and that I was mistaken. I didn't want to be mistaken to get back together with him, but because I want to believe that he was a good man deep down inside. *sigh* I wish I didn't care and I wish that whatever this weird feeling is inside me would GO AWAY!
I am just rambling with no real purpose. Thanks for listening. -

Jehovah's Witnesses and Showing Off
by Good Girl or Bad Girl? inso i guess it's convention time again back in wisconsin or illinois or wherever the hell they drive nowadays.
someone made me unfortunately have to remember this.
so i got to thinking about the conventions and the showing off that took place there:.

I used to look forward to seeing friends at the conventions that I had not seen in a while, but I always made sure I was dressed to the 9's. I did not enjoy being single in the borg either--I was constantly being asked what was wrong with me that I was not married and the conventions offered opportunity to meet someone. Blech! I had it made as a single gal then and wished I had valued that a bit more carefully.
