Book cover for Kingdom Maladies
by punkofnice inrighto poppickers.
as some of you know, i have been putting together a book of interviews and humour.
it is designed (i hope), soften the blow for those inside the wbt$ who want to escape and also prove to those that have left that they are not alone.. anyway.

I like the snarky remarks, but when I first look at the cover it hits me as being too busy. I may show this to my boyfriend (he does book cover design) and see what he says. Doom and gloom are comforting is the correct usage. -

10 years and Satan finally struck....
by snare&racket ini left around a decade ago, life has not been easy, but it has been profoundly better than the jw robotics my earlier life chapters resembled.. my current life was going so well, too well...... and finally the nemesis of jahooha came out from his dark hiding place.
no longer in gods tent i was as vulnerable as the chinese job and his unfortunate sheep and children.. satan, bless his socks of cotton, has finally attacked, he broke my leg the dark lordy bastard.. a spiral fracture of the fibula and various fractures the ankle joint.. the worst of all his evil doings was the story i have to tell people, it's 'mechanism of injury'..... i slipped on some grass.
yes the devilish ball rash, got me good.. so now, i sit bored, wishing i had meetings to prepare for, talks to write and i long for the live bombing i would have received as an interesting new kingdom hall event in the decades of waiting on jahooha..... but all i have is some lame ass, american apostates on a forum..... tchhhh.... .

Charity
by aintenoughwiskey inwe know the wt interpretation of matt 25:40 is support of the anointed.
since most of us here are no longer in that situation, what, if any forms of charity are you involved in?
sorry for the awkward framing of the question, it's not meant to imply atheists, or non-christians are not charitable!

I help with the local food bank and an organization that empowers young girls. Feels much more fulfilling than door knocking with useless mags. -

I love the quote that they are "working with victims of a "harrowing" experience."
I hope they show more compassion for those victims than the victims of pedophiles. We know how kind & loving they are in those circumstances.

Well another one leaves the Borg.
by John Aquila ini took a quick trip to the store and i happened to see a young man (about 26-28 years old) who got baptized about the same time i was leaving- about 2 years ago.
a couple of pioneer sisters found him in the door to door work.
one of them, a very attractive girl.

I haven't seen it, won't be seeing it, but I imagine Tina Turner sums it up nicely: "What's love got to do it with it?" -

I lost everything...the only "friends" I ever had, my siblings, my stepson, my husband (thankfully!!). I started at ground zero. I gained my sanity, my health, relatives by the dozen, friends without an agenda, and a good man. I experienced joy and true happiness once I left. I live each day for the gift it is and not for the dangling carrot of a forever paradise. I don't worry about the future any longer. I no longer worry about stumbling someone over something stupid. I hold conversations with people without the agenda of converting them or being on guard against their "worldly" influence. I no longer judge people.
I mentioned to someone recently I feel like sending a thank you card to the eldubs who dfd me since they gave me my life back.
No regrets! The sacrifice has been worth it for me.

A dub I know was recently reinstated. She was dfd for leaving her hubby for another man. She married the other man and then began the process of being reinstated. Her new hubby apparently attends the meetings with her now. My question is why? What makes a person want to attend religious services where the loved one is not spoken to (initially) and has to go through silly hoops to be accepted back in? Wouldn't that make the alarm bells clang with "Cult" warning?
Just seeking information on how one thinks in that situation and not passing judgement on choices made. I truly am curious. I was raised in this crap and now that I am on the outside looking in, I can't see what the appeal is with the dubs. I am also very prejudice in my views of the dubs having been mistreated and kicked out in my time of need.

Big eyes- jw's all excited about the movie
by purrpurr infor those still attending.
have you seen an excitement go through the dubs about the tim burton film big eyes?
they reckon it will give a "fine witness".. i've seen it and found it really irritating, basically margaret keane is such a timid mouse that she allows her husband to take all the credit for her work.

I saw the movie and it was interesting. I met Margaret and her daughter when I visited Hawaii a million years ago when I was a dub. Frankly, looking back, I wonder if she and her daughter were struggling with cognitive dissonance. They both were sickly, couldn't be around people because of chemical sensitivities, and rather distant. That being said, it is a dusty memory and I could have some things wrong, but it was a disappointing meeting for a fan.
Based on the movie, she felt (as many women of that time period) that she needed a man (or figurehead) to guide her. She replaced the abusive hubbies with an abusive religion. Neither one required her to think for herself (until her life was threatened by hubbies and survival instinct kicked in). No doubt the dubbies think the religion was her savior from the abuse...
