I did. He had a special place in my heart. Until he forgot to give me boobs. Then I thought he didn't care about me. And by the time they came, it was too late. I had developed too many critical thinking skills.

LynnTink, Good lord. You have been through some horrible times. I can totally relate to how you think you could have done just fine never knowing what a JW was. Have you ever been to counseling? You have had your boundaries so disregarded in every way imaginable. You probably don't even know you have them. (ha ha) Pretty much you will find that we are all out here living our lives, trying to figure it out, but no one is going to tell you what to do or have faith in. Like you said, you don't want someone controlling you anymore, so you are the one responsible for putting your beliefs in order for yourself. No one has the right to tell you that you are wrong either. It's scary not knowing how to trust yourself or feel unable to make up your own mind about everything in life. But that's what it is, and you are here, so welcome and just journey with us for awhile.

JW Children and the absence of Christmas
by Clam inive just collected my 6 year old son from school.
he sat in the back of the car and told me about a little girl from the year above him who has to leave her classroom and sit in his due to christmassy things going on.
my youngster remarked "she doesnt believe in christmas.

I always had to go to the library. I went to the same school K-6 so the kids knew the deal. Sometimes they got jealous because I got to make a peacock instead of a turkey out of paper, or sugar flowers instead of sugar eggs. I think Christmas was pretty much out though. I hated being different. It screws with me to this day. I still think I'm different than a normal human. I tell my husband I wasn't raised human because none of my normal human, native intelligence was allowed to develop. I didn't really care about not getting presents or not believing in Santa, but I wanted to be able to just exist and hang out. I still feel like I'll never be able to make up for my underdevelopment.

One time, this householder listened to us and kindly asked in an almost pleading way, "Why do you guys keep coming back every few weeks? We've told you we are Christians and happy with our religion. We aren't interested in what you have to say. Why do you keep coming here?" I felt pretty bad, I was like 12. Another time, someone yelled at us from their upstairs balcony and was like "Nobody in this neighborhood wants you here! I'm going to call everyone and tell them not to answer their doors! Go away!" Being faithful never felt so awkward. Well, I also hated getting people at home, god forbid placing anything and facing a stupid RV, cold feet in those stupid 80s girl meeting shoes, and pretty much everything about it until we went and got frozen yogurt and coffee at 11:45. HATED IT. Oh yeah, and the time I actually got a bible study and had to go tell her that I no longer could believe the shit I was saying, so I would have to turn her over to someone else. She said she understood.

Is there any Hope?
by Agnostic Front inhi guys, i'm hoping that you may be able to answer a question for me as you seem to have a pretty broad range of experience with the jws, about a year ago i met the most fantastic woman i've ever met, we 'clicked' straight away went on a few dates, held hands, cuddled in country pubs but i never got more than a peck on the lips when we said goodbye.
she soon informed me that she was a jw, i didn't really know anything about them except for when they knock on my door on a saturday, so i said ok, we'll deal with it.
she's adamant that we can't be together unless i'm a jw too, i know that this doesn't have to be the case but it's her decision.

JW people are so screwed up mentally you will pay big time on down the road if you stay with this woman. You're going to spend your life with a zombie - lacking ambition, dreams and thoughts of her own. Hey! I resemble those remarks! She may be a fine catch.....but probably only years from now when she has educated herself and learned to love herself enough to get the hell out of that cult. And until then, she doesn't have what it takes to be a great partner. Everyone deserves more than that, including you.

How many votes have I got? Hmmmm? I agree with Finally-Free. I like re-reading my text. Does that make me a chode? Well, I like it when people throw me a line when I make a comment or ask a question. So I like you if you like me. Dude, I'm so silly. I like reading a lot of peoples for different reasons. I like you the best - har har.

Yeah, those damn bleeding hearts! Why can't we get them to be robots already? That's what the WT must be brainstorming about. For the first few years after I left home and was DF'd again, my parents' affection would wax and wane with the proper food at the proper time. After a convention, my dad would point out the property line and tell me to quit calling my mom. After a couple months of no real shake-ups, I would get to come in the house, eat a grapefruit in the same room and get some attention. I'm sure if I was still playing that game, this would be a tough month.

Is God a Stinker?
by slimboyfat ini have finished the god delusion myself.
it has many good passages, but i thought i would share a light-hearted comment dawkins makes against one of the rather fascile "proofs" for god offered by thomas aquinas:.
"4 the argument from degree.

He stunk up a good part of my life. I've been a year behind in watching Lost so I'm near the end of Season 2 where Hurley is eating peanut butter and seeing things. It reminds me of how real I thought the delusion was that my parents fed me. How could those people take a little curious kid and answer all her serious questions with WT quotes instead of honest research? God, I think my parents are sick. I was so into my delusion.

i just bought the book and it's really refreshing to read his thoughts.

Let's not turn this into an argument thread over religion vs. atheism, OK? I just bought the book and it's really refreshing to read his thoughts. I need a dictionary though because his vocab range is broader than mine. Has anyone else read it or any of his other books? The search option doesn't work does it? Because this has probably been talked about. That new 07 WT makes me sick. There is a chapter in the book about childhood and religion. There wasn't any mention of JWs. We should hook him up with some info. Anyways, has anyone else read this book and just wanted to cry because there are people sticking up for science and what man has come up with to explain this world? I love it.
