Have just heard that elders are being told to say that Eunice Spry was a witness in the past - she is no longer a JW and hasn't been one for years.

BREAKING NEWS: 16:.02: FOSTER MOTHER GUILTY OF ABUSE
by fokyc inhttp://www.gloucestershireecho.co.uk/displaynode.jsp?nodeid=139760&command=displaycontent&sourcenode=139586&contentpk=16917608&folderpk=80785&pnodeid=139317.
date : 20.03.07. foster mother eunice spry has been found guilty of subjecting children in her care to two decades of horrific abuse.. the 62-year-old, from tewkesbury, beat them, fed them rat droppings, stopped them sleeping and rubbed their faces with sandpaper.
she thrust sticks down their throats when they misbehaved and made them eat dog food.. one daughter was forced to use a wheelchair for four years even though she was perfectly able to walk.. doctors, teachers and neighbours raised constant concerns about spry's treatment of the children but nothing was ever done by social services.. the catalogue of abuse only came to light when one of the children went to the jehovah's witness elders at the church the family attended.. spry, from tewkesbury, was found guilty of 26 charges of cruelty after a three week trial at bristol crown court.

How stunningly gorgeous is this?!!
by Crumpet insince i moved here in february i have been lovely tending to my friend hisbiscus.
its gone from pruned stems to growing buds to finally flowering.
this morning when i woke up i was excited to see how the petals had lengthened and seemed about to open - but i had no idea how far.

Just out working on my yard a bit more today, and thought of something, Crumpet. Do your Hibiscus bring to mind sex?
Knowing you a bit, I'm aware nearly everything does, but really. The flowers are flaming red and wide open...then they calm down and relax. Your thoughts?
confession, an interesting Q you've put to crumpet - wonder what crumpet will say, she always has a deeply passionate, meaningful reply
In my own case sex makes me think of flowers, especially red ones, whereas flowers in themselves don't bring to mind sex, even red passionate ones

Counting Time
by Xena ini don't know about anyone else but this could be the source of major contention between dubs in my halls.
you had those who started their time as soon as you pulled out of the hall parking lot (me), those who counted from the first knock at the door or laundry mat visited, and the die hards who didn't start until they actually spoke to someone(my sister).
my sister and i would go round and round about this, i finally just pretended to start my time when she did just to shut her up.

Blondie
I knew some that started their time by making a phone from home (to someone who was not home), another phone call just before leaving the KH or from their cell in the car.
we did the above.
A couple of pioneers used to arrange get togethers and picnics and always made sure they invited unbaptized publishers - that way they reasoned they could count their time at their recreational arrangements. They would make sure they talked to all unbaptized ones before and after meetings and counted that time too - also if they brought a bible study along they counted the whole meeting.
If in August they had time to make up they'd have sleepovers with unbaptized ones and keep them talking till the wee hours. Honestly this is true.
Their reasoning was that its more important to stay on a pioneers than any thing else.

Maybe it will upset them, maybe they will just discard...
by Crumpet init is my parents wedding anniversary saturday and every year since i left i have always sent them a card.
i wondered whether i should or not this year.
on balance i wasn't sure what would upset them more - waiting for a card that never came, or receiving a card at all, especially since i said in december that i wouldn't "bother" them anymore.. anyway it felt right to send a card so i did and i decided to put a little note inside, folded and bearing the message: "my news, but don't read it if you aren't interested".

Wouldn't that be a money earner?

Major Depression
by peewee62 inmy name is sharon, and i have a lil sister that just had her husband of 20 years run out on her with out telling her anything,he just packed up and left, and was also late on their morgage for two months 3000 behind, she has her own home daycare but she only had three children in her daycare when he left, she did not know if she was going to have to move or not,and he was steady calling her and messing with her about anything, she is a good person,he put her in a very deep depression, recently she told her family she was hearing voices calling her name out every where she goes,it will start as a whisper, then it would get louder,so we came over and talk with some of the witnesses,we told her to say a loud prayer to jehovah god,and she was also playing the kingdom melodies, and watching a video of a bible study, and she was reading the bible, and while she was doing all that she was still hearing the voices, that made her family think that it was something else wrong with her,she has been trying to get a bible study started and she has it in her heart to learn and serve jahovah god and jesus christ, could some one please help us or tell us what coild be going on if you know anything please because we really love our sister very much,we lost our parents we dont want to lose our sister.

Hi Sharon
welcome
Very sorry about the distress your sis is experiencing. Sounds like she emotionally overloaded. Encourage her not to take on anything new for the present and to see her doctor.
Is she seeing her doctor regularly?

Merry Becomes A Muslim (a bit long)
by Merry Magdalene inwho is merry?
i was born in 1965, the same year that malcolm x was assassinated.
my father had committed suicide a few months into my mother's pregnancy so we lived with her parents until she married again when i was about 18 months old.

If I were to turn to Islam then I like to think it would be the mystical Sufi, although the Whirling Dervishes are perhaps a little OTT for my tastesYeah your right LT ....scottish dancing is more sedate

good post
The WTS has everything covered - they live in their own world -for me your mum's reaction demonstrates that.
