IF it is NOT wise for a man to be ALONE with a woman he's NOT married to
by Spike Tassel insola scriptura answered andersonsinfo:.
the wt leadership has hammered into all of it's elders and rank & file's heads, that it is not wise for a man to be alone with a woman he is not married too (adult or young woman... ie 14).
even in congregation sanctioned duties.. so, why, then, do so many service pairings involve just that: a brother alone in the territory (even if it's to make a call) with a sister he's not married to?.

I haven't read it all as it's become so long and it seems to have drifted somewhat off topic, however I would like to add (if it hasn't been done already);
If is is not wise for a man to be alone with a woman he's not married too. In this day-and-age why is it not wise for a man to be alone with a man he's not married too?

Do YOU Consider Persons Who Fornicate As Being "Immoral"?
by minimus inif we were to accept the bible's view, anyone having sex with someone other than their spouse would be considered "immoral".
do you still accept that point of view?.

A lot of you have mentioned "consenting adults".
May I ask; Who decides when one is an adult? Surely an arbitary age set by the government; which is different depending on what country you live, should not be the gauge.
In the UK you can get married (or have sex "legally") at 16 although you can't drive until you're 17 and not drink until you're 18.

Why elders are so CERTAIN of they OWN OPINIONS
by BonaFide inelders are told they are appointed by holy spirit.
that means the supreme god of the universe used his force to appoint them over the flock.. that is a major big deal.. so when they get in that back room, and the body of elders meets, or they are on a judicial committee or shepherding or whatever, they think they are speaking for jehovah god himself.. do we realize what that means?
that means that when they feel something, or they are emotional about something, or they get mad at someone in that room, they feel that is holy spirit directing them.. they don't realize they are on their own.

What is the value of suffering?
by jabberwock inin a recent talk the speaker asked the question, "how will god destroy the wicked at armageddon?
" the first and most efficient means will be to confuse them into killing one another.
second there are the forces of nature at his disposal.

Lady Lee,
I'm glad you came through, and thank-you for sharing your poem and appreciate you acknowledging that not everyone "has the strength".
I would agree (for some at least) strength can be found and lessons learnt. But as with the proverbial child putting its hand too close to the fire to learn that it burns, those strengths and lessons can be learnt in ways that don't involve suffering or pain.
