Elders and shepherding calls
by sspo infor all the years you were in the borg, i was wondering how many of you received a friendly shepherding call from the elders?
.
that was part of their responsibility as elders but in over 30 years i never received one and i found that was the case with many in the cong.. did you regularly receive a visit?

THE BACK PEDDLING HAS ALREADY BEGUN......
by Mary inas i mentioned before in another thread, my dub aunt, along with several other witnesses, told me that they were specifically told that the governing body let it be known that tract work would trigger the beginning of the end by infuriating the other religions and somehow causing the governments to "turn on babylon the great".
this was supposed to start before the end of this year.
one thing i mentioned is that they were smart enough this time, not to put anything down in writing, but simply let it get around by "word of mouth".

Isn't obesity a difilement of the flesh?
by BrentR inback when i was a jw i saw many people df'd because of smoking.
it was probably the second most common reason aside from fornication and adultrey.
i can't tell you how many brothers and sisters i knew in my cong.

Stumbling block?
by Junction-Guy inwell this should be my last post before i go to bed, im well past my bedtime.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------you remember back in your jw days when the wt society's publications rambled on and on about stumbling people, you know they would always say "dont do this, you could stumble someone, dont do that you could stumble someone" but whenever someone stumbled you they would reply "thats silly, you cant be stumbled, it's your fault for letting yourself be stumbled" doesnt it amaze you how they can talk out of both sides of their mouths?

Sub-for-Santa, a nonprofit organization I work with, donates gifts to families in need every December. This year we're "adopting" a Jehovah's Witness family. I know Jehovah's Witnesses don't celebrate holidays, but is it OK to wrap the gifts we purchased in a nonholiday wrapping paper?
The problem here is not the wrapping paper but the day prompting the gift, since Jehovah's Witnesses consider Christmas to be a pagan holiday. J. R. Brown at the Jehovah's Witnesses Office of Public Information suggests not doing anything the week of Christmas itself. Also, you might consider providing a service for the family rather than giving a gift. That way, you'd show that you care, but your gift might not be seen as a Christmas present. -
