it was with great pleasure and with mrs hosers blessing that i took all of our bound volumes and other obsolete jehovah's witness books to the local landfill.
i threw them into the garbage pile and watched as a crawler tractor drove over them to pack them down.
This past weekend, hubby and I disposed of about six boxes of old jw books. We put a few each in the bottom of big black garbage bags. Nasty garbage went on top of them. We wouldn't want them to infect anybody else.
Just a side point, my husband still claims that he IS a JW even after about 20 years of no meetings or service. Yet it was his idea to trash the books....

i can't say my life was ruined because i was a witness.
still, i wish that my upbringing was different.
there's a lot i don't like at all about the witnesses but by the same token, there are some very good people who happen to be jws.. i'm sure some of you hated your life as a witness and i'm sure you have valid reasons..
the dec 15th wt finally tells us why the new song book.
who would think it was new light that made them have to change there book but here it is.. paragraph 15 says "as times passes, refinements are made in our understanding of the sciptures.
proverbs 4:18 says: "the path of the righteous ones is like the bright light that is getting lighter and lighter until the day is firmly established.
The light is blinking. "New World" was the expression used in the 1950s and 1960s. Everything old is new again LOL.
I wonder if some of the people who worked on the previous song book are now out of the Borg and wanting their copyright rights. Hmmmmmmmmm.

i was just talking to a guy who's been df'd for years and he still talks about things like it was yesterday in watchtowerland.. are you still consumed by your jw past?.
Nope. I go for long periods of time without even checking in here.
Most people who know me now IRL have no idea of my background. And that's okay with me.

i used to be in awe at the jw's who were so good at the doors.
they were conversational, informative, and knowledgeable.
i sucked.
Sadly, I was good at field service and at starting Bible studies. I was responsible for bringing several people to baptism and then they were joined (usually) by their families. I was a true believer, empathetic and helpful. But then when I needed someone in the congregation to reach out a hand and just be nice to me and my family, I got nothing but hot air.
I pray for those folks I (sincerely) deceived every day.

I became an inactive JW in the mid 1990s. I was baptized in the Catholic Church on March 22, 2008. In between I was pretty much an agnostic.
The Roman Catholic Church is really nothing like the Watchtower Society. The Watchtower folk stole the hierarchial structure, but the operation of the Witnesses and the operation of the Catholic Church is completely different. Tom Cabeen has written a great article about this; it is posted at catholicxjw.com .
I am very happy as a Roman Catholic. Suddenly all those scriptures I read over the years actually make sense. Plus, I have a real relationship with Jesus Christ. I no longer hold any resentment towards the Witnesses, only sadness that so many good people are held captive by a lie.
I don't hang out here very much anymore. Too busy enjoying my life.

yes, it's been awhile, as you can see, i've been a little busy....lol.
anyway, i named him cash (i love his name), he will be 3 weeks old tomorrow.
i forgot how much work it is to take care of a newborn, but it's all worth it.

if a person is raised a witness, does it mean they are inferior to everyone else?
is it necessarily better to be raised a catholic, a jew, or even a non religious person, in the long run?
does one's morality and quality of life suffer because of having been a jehovah's witness?.
I certainly don't think so. I was raised a Witness and I don't consider myself an inferior person.
If anything, I believe my Witness upbringing made me a stronger person in the long run. Swimming against the tide and all that.

monica marks grew up among fundamentalist jehovahs witnesses in eastern kentucky craving books and learning in a community where education wasnt valued.. today the university of louisville graduate is the state's latest rhodes scholar, the winner of one of the most coveted awards in academia.. growing up, the discussion wasnt about what college you would go to, it was whether or not you were even going to college, she said.
the idea of going to university and getting a degree, much less getting a rhodes, didnt even fall within our purview.. at 23 years of age, her studies in islamic law have already taken her around the globe to places like jordan, tanzania and tunisia.
I know this young lady and her parents. Her parents are both highly intelligent (but uneducated) individuals. Her mom drove her to a neighboring county so she could attend better schools. Both of her parents encouraged her educational pursuits.
The part about her father was conveniently left out of our local newspaper. Her father has not been an elder for a while.
