  I couldn't help but get a chuckle out of the penciled in note of, "100, 44000." Was this book used by a child per chance?

  Yup, I'm quite sure it was used by more than one child, since it's my book and I have 3 daughters who would grab whatever book they could find on the way out the door to "Book study". I didn't write it myself.

  Of much more interest would be their later notes to their friends (written while they were trying to stay awake at assemblies, etc.).

  I didn't remove the note, because I didn't think it was any more ridiculous than the picture *hah*

  um, wasn't the "special tract" that was being placed in october and november suppose to cause great outrage amongst false religion, in particular the catholic church?

  weren't theys supposed to demand that the government ban jehovah's witnesses?

  surely something would have been written in the newspapers or be on cnn about all the governments of the world going ahead and banning all religions, or did i blink and miss that?

  I moved most of a very large JW library to another room a few years ago because I couldn't figure out what to do with it (since we aren't allowed to burn here and it was a LOT to put out for the garbage).

  Since coming to this board, though, I think I can find better usage for it...

  Kidney problems--I'm worried

  well for the past few years i have checked my urine at work ( i work in a medical division of a jail) and i have had intermittent protein in my urine (proteinuria), whenever i would see my doctor he would check my urine, and strangely enough it wasnt showing.

  well 2 weeks ago i went to my doctor and he did find protein in my urine this time, he sent me for an ultrasound of my kidneys and bladder this week, but i havent gotten the results back yet, in fact i was too worried to even call the doctor today.

  i have researched kidney problems and im worried something is majorly wrong with my kidneys.

  Dave,

  I don't have any medical advice for you, but I will be thinking good thoughts for you. I agree with the other poster who said you are wise to take care of your health.

  I used to drink coffee all day and almost no water. I had to make myself start drinking water FIRST. Remember that the fuel that allows your body to burn glucose for energy is -- WATER. Just making myself drink a full glass of water as soon as I get up in the morning does a lot for my energy level.

  i think it's hilarious that when you post facts there is still always someone arguing it.. makes you want to stop bothering if people don't want to learn.. but then again my family has only been in the truth for 100 years so what would i know?.

  Interesting that you felt my reply demonstrated a "condescending attitude". I felt this way about your initial post -- which is why I responded.

  I pointed out to you that you are not the only "fifth generation" JW (or exJW in my case) on this board. I personally don't wear the term as a "badge of honor". It just describes how deep in horse____ my life has been. Buried under it, for most of my first 45 years. So you have my sympathy, 5th. A history of Bible Student/JW ancestors means usually a large extended family who would react very badly if you left the Borg.

  Feel free to dissect my posts. I do not take personal offense at individuals who disagree with me.

  You might get more reasoned responses to your posts, though, if you didn't start by alleging that people who don't agree with you "don't want to learn".

  New rule -- dated when? New this year, last year? Applied how, only to KH still to be planned when the rule was issued? Or did they "grandfather" in KHs that were already planned at the time of issuance? What are the "facts"?

  Also, if this letter or direction was sent to Mexico (where you are), are you ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that it was also sent to all congregations everywhere else (including the United States)? Might it not have only applied to the Mexican Branch Office and those congregations under it?

  Is the purpose of this information to defend the Borg? In other posts, you don't seem too happy with being active, so I'm really sorta confused.

  In any case, back to my earlier point about the real world, in the real world NOBODY is going to believe ANYTHING posted by someone relatively unknown to them JUST BECAUSE THEY ASSERT IT IS A FACT.

  That only happens in Borgland.... where anonymous committees of men (so they say, perhaps they are hiding a woman or two in the closet) rewrite the New Testament of the Bible to support their own agenda.

  Also, in case you don't know, all caps is considered shouting on the internet and shouting in a chat room or on a bulletin board is bad manners.

  But they don't teach you how to behave on the internet at those meetings you hate to go to, do they?

  Watchtower logo on side of kingdom hall

  my old kingdom hall has the watchtower logo built into the brick work on the side that faces the road - to me for a hall that is supposed to be dedicated to god, its a bit wrong to have a corporation logo on the side of it.

  maybe its there to show they and not the congregation own it???

  I notice that you are in Mexico. You do realize that the "Society" frequently has different policies for different countries, do you not?

  Yes, I know that contradicts what they say about worldwide unity, but if you have ever read Ray Franz's books you would know that the statement I just made is true.

  When my husband and I attended an international convention in Colombia in 1985, we found out that the Borg there (at that time) was registered as an educational organization, not a religious organization. So congregations and KHs in Colombia followed different procedures than congregations in the US due to their different legal status. Simply a recollection of mine -- probably doesn't qualify as a "fact".

  I don't remember if any "watchtower" symbols were in evidence though...

  I started this thread because I stated in another post that the WT banned embedding WT symbols in Kingdom Halls (which is fact) and was told I was wrong by some yahoos.

  I read that thread. Some yahoos actually had the "nerve" to post current pictures of KHs (and WTS headquarters buildings) displaying the WT logo in answer to your statement.

  My comment would be that perhaps at some time they DID ban the practice, but apparently (based on "facts" also in evidence) they did not compel congregations to remove said symbols in all cases.

  But my question still is, why would you care that someone would disagree with your statement on this? Why would you take it personally?

  At this point they could start embedding crosses in new KHs and I wouldn't give a flying flip about it. But I probably would take a picture *hah*
