it would seem hypocritical to me if they think blood should be poured out on the ground and they allow someone to draw blood from their body.

A few weeks ago, I would say "of course"!
But then someone uploaded a scan from the appendix of the new book "Keep Yourselves in God's Love" (page 216-217):

When making decisions about these procedures, ask yourself: 'If some of my blood will be diverted outside my body and the flow might even be interrupted for a time, will my conscience allow me to view this blood as still part of me, thus not requiring that i be "[poured] out upon the ground"? (Deuteronomy 12:23, 24) Would my Bible-trained conscience be troubled if during a medical procedure some of my own blood was withdrawn, modified, and directed back into my body? Am I aware that refusing all medical procedures involving the use of my own blood means that I would not accept a blood test, hemodialysis, or a heart-lung bypass machine?'
So, now I'm not sure anymore. It's suddenly a conscience matter?

Thank you Aurelius. So it appears as if their "mechanical skilled" people got rid of absolutely all the brackets. Even the legitimate one(s).
Funny.

But in some time, a few years from now, I guess that all witnesses have forgotten about the brackets, and also the somewhat missing brackets from other translations. And they will read "other" as if it has always been a part of the original scripture (Satan's people have taken the word out of the other translations!).
And never again will there be any questions about what the brackets mean.

Doupting Bro: FYI - I have one of the 2006 paperback printing NWTs and it has removed all the brackets including the scripture in question. I leafed through it yesterday and I don't see anything notifying the reader of the change. Actually, I'm suprised they didn't do that a long time ago. So much for being "the most well respected translation".

of history, specifically, the story of the "half way covenant".

I remember the big announcement in the 90s (I think). When it was announced that we would no longer sell the literature, but offer it for free and ask for donations.

Back then it was also announced a week beforehand that there would be a BIG announcement the next Sunday...

Anyway. The PO in my cong. knew. (I don't remember if the other elders knew). He would not tell anyone, but put on this smart grin on his face when we asked him about it.

A young man (I don't think he was baptized at the time) asked him if the announcement might be that the JW was not the truth after all?

The PO did not smile to that one

Later I've been thinking of how right he was
