if a sister is used to interpret any of the program talks, she is to wear a "modest and appropriate head covering as a sign of submission
What in heaven's name is a modest head covering supposed to look like?
once again i have been selected as the "chosen channel" of commnuication by an paranoid elder apostate in waiting to spread this divinely inspired information: .
bfd.
a recent letter to all traveling overseers and bodies of elders in the u.s. contains an interesting "change in policy".

being a pioneer/servant for years, i thought i was very responsible.
when dating a sister whom i later married, i read every publication on courtship the society had.
i then spoke to an elder whom i thought was "resonable" and we agreed as the publications say: "a couple can meet together in a public place, when courting, without a chaperon.
We switched to meeting in public places or at gatherings. We always arrived in separate cars
and left that way.
What pressure is placed on dating couples in JW-Land! Everything imaginable is dictated for them, their choice is non-existent. Even the length of the engagement is "recommended" by the society ... sheesh! No wonder these marriages don't last. Thank God I never had to go through all this crap.
i went into the employee rest room and saw wactower rags on the chair.
i promptly ripped them into little pieces and threw them away!.
i feel so good and i'm sure the person that left them will know it was me.
I used to see them in the laundromats when I would go to do my laundry there. .....riiip... into the trash they would go.
Good and proper "placement"| ... right?
if you can answer yes to the following questions.... .
1) did you have a full share in the ministry?
2) did you have a desire to do more?
I had to taste it because it was FORCED down my throat! Afterwards ... its taste was as bitter as wormwood! blech!
well christimas will soon be here !!.
for those that are new we have done this for the last few years, what it involves is that those who want to join in will post to this thread and then pm me their name and address.
i will then collate the names and addresses and assign everyone a person to buy a gift for.
Last Christmas I was lurking ... this time I'll join in!
thought i'd share this snipit i learned about 2 years ago.
back when i still attended as a teenager, there was this dorky, kinda fat, shy elder's son who never fit in at school.
he was a totally sheltered weenie, and of course his elder father had high expectations for his boy!!
I think piano tuning would be a great business. That is not a skill easily mastered
Maybe he realized what a lousy piano tuner he was, and decided to do something he was good at!
a year ago in my cong, an elder who must be hitler's love child, gets up and tells us how some brothers are planning a fancy dress party, a large social gathering.
sounds fun i though!
"brothers a sincere christian would not attend such a gathering, we are warning you not to go near it.
Some years back some of the friends wanted to do a "Formal". Well the elders wanted to kill that so their excuse was that those who could not afford the dress code would feel excluded.
What utter rubbish!!!!!!! I wished the brothers and sisters in my former congo would have a "Formal"... somehow it never happened. I did attend a "formal" with "worldly" people once ... we had such a great time!
i knew what the watchtower taught regarding the "faithful & discreet slave class" but how they could ever suggest that "domestics" were "individual members" of the anointed that were given food to the other anointed ones, yet they specifically were not members of the governing body, but the governing body represented the group that would take the lead in feeding others, was beyond me!
the whole interpretation of the fds doctrine is ridiculous!.
were there certain things that puzzled you as to how the watchtower could come up with a particular view?
It baffled me as to why there would be no resurrection of babies who died. Weren't they viewed as individuals even before birth?
sorry guys, i've deleted this post as i gave waaay to much info and could be identified by the details.. .
changeling (still a little paranoid).
.
You just hang in there ... dealing with elderly parents can sometimes fray your LAST nerve.
when my mum went to her first meeting she was dressed to perfection, she wore nice ladies dress trouser/pants.
the witness stuying with her told her it was "not apropriate" to wear this to the meeting...in 2006 i was in a congregation where a sister would put a skirt on over her pants she wore to work.
it looked weird, but the pants ban still is in force 2007.
Its seems that no one picked up on the scripture which was as I recall for the reason why pants on a woman were not allowed.
"No garb of an able-bodied man should be put upon a woman, neither should an able-bodied man wear the mantle of a woman; for anyone doing these things is something destestable to Jehovah your God." Deut 22:5 NWT
"A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this." Deut 22:5 NIV
Gordy, which part of the scripture talks about the rule being applied only to meetings, assemblies etc.?
