I'm sure they probably just made her up! She's nameless, faceless, countryless, congregationless ... she's simply non existent.

Singledom - the peaks and troughs?
by Crumpet ini have almost completed the first year of my adult life (since 18) as a bachelorette and was wondering what others' experience of singledom is?
what would you say are the advantages to being single (other than being able to pioneer .
what are the things you miss the most about a relationship?.

As for me, I married late (early thirties), and have only been married for a year.
I did enjoy the independence of singledom (especially being an only child). My only regret with being single is that I never got to enjoy more of it away from my parents. I moved away from them, and met my husband a year later ... after 5 more years of singledom we tied the knot.
So far I've thoroughly enjoyed being married. Sometimes I do long for the independence of singledom. But in the long run, it was a fair trade ... independence for companionship.

Struggling to throw my contact lenses away!
by Trevanian inwhen i first started wearing (soft) contact lenses, in around 1986, they were prescribed for wearing for six months, i think, before being replaced.
over the years the technology has become better, they've become cheaper, and wear time has become shorter... three months... one month... .
now i'm wearing two-week (water-wada-wada-oxygen-permeable-completely-inexpensive-state-of-the-art) contact lenses.. but damn, when i have to throw the little critters in the bin or down the drain after two weeks, i feel guilty as heck!

I have been known to wear the monthly ones for up to ~whispers~ 6 months.
Me too .....
Never had any problems with them.

My story: "Pop!" goes the Little Circuit Breaker
by TJ - iAmCleared2Land ini guess it's about time i write my story.
i've put this off for a long time... primarily becuase, while i thought my story was bad, i've read so many worse and heart-rending stories here.
i think, though, there is some therapeutic value in 'letting it all out' with others who know what 'it' was like.

I've just spent the majority of an hour catching up on the rest of your story. Wow!
All I can say is you chose a most appropriate name for your parents .... monsters!!! That's exactly what they are! And to think they believe they're annointed ... unbelievable!!! This is the same man who aspired to be a Circuit Overseer?!!!!
I wouldn't even treat a dog the way they treated their own children!!!! That was just plain abuse ... just wrong.
Showers twice a week? Did they allow you to shower before the meetings, field service, and all those assemblies you all were "starring" in?
I'm relieved to know you've finally made steps to overcome all those traumatic experiences.
