  saint peter addresses this guy, "who are you, so that i may know whether or not to admit you to the kingdom of heaven?".

  he smiles and says to the taxi-driver, "take this silken robe and golden staff and enter the kingdom.

  " the taxi-driver goes into heaven with his robe and staff.

  I can't understand why the Witnesses think that the entire World is evil

  in their black and white world, the jw's think that everything that isn't jw is evil.. every day, i visit my dad at a nursing home, a place where dying people go, and i see so many good people, many volunteers, helping out the sick and dying.

  witnesses may preach and know their bible better than the average person.

  but i prefer people who don't know their bible as well, but have a heart and donate to the poor or help the sick and have compassion.. maybe one day when the average age of witnesses will be higher, maybe they will start to understand that there is more than preaching.

  Why do they think the world is evil?

  They need it to be evil. If it wasn't evil, their message would lack relevence and sure wouldn't be something that people should dedicate their lives dispersing. They need an evil world to hide their lies and false teachings as well. They need an evil world so they can explain us apostates. They need an evil world to maintain the pressure, for without the pressure, they have no control.

  The apostate idea is one that I wish more people could see through. The watchtower society is well known for their legal prowess. They sue anyone they even reasonably think they can win and they have a very powerful and devious legal department. So, with all that at their will, supposedly including the backing of the most high God, why are there any apostates? Why haven't they all ceased and desisted or been arrested for libel or slander? Why can I call them a cult who have delivered false prophecy again and again and again and not fear legal repercussions? The reason is obvious. When I say they are a cult and when I say they are false prophets, I'm not lying. They're literature, proves it. Their false claims prove it. The facts speak for themselves. If I were libeling them right now, I would be facing some sort of legal difficulties with this billion dollar organization. But I'm NOT FACING ANY!

  she got some pain meds this am and she told me the dr. will probably release her this afternoon.

  I have a hard time believing that God has a preference with regards to religions. I think he either loves or hates them all equally. I could see him doing either based on how each has their share of hypocrisy and duplicity.

  I sure don't have any idea why an all wise creator would allow someone to represent him with falsehood, but since that appears to be the case, he must have a purpose.

  On the other hand, I think the kind of worship that really honors him doesn't need a name, a headquarters, a governing body, a charter, a house of worship, or any of the other accoutrements common to today's religions. I think that the kind of religion that honors and pleases God is seeing the opportunity to cheer someone up and taking it, sharing what you have with other people, avoiding pretense, and living life to the full. I think God is honored by us enjoying his handiwork and being willing to help others enjoy it. :-)

  i am a believer at the moment i think.... .

  firstly we are directed away from questioning just how god came into existance - why?

  The Gold is now so pure that it will last forever... The seemingly cruel, destructive treatment was meant for it's good and the good of it's creator.

  If you're the all-powerful creator, why do you need the furnace? Why not just create the gold?

  Why all the Athiest/Christian bashing?

  i know i am different than many, and though i accept christianity, i just don't understand the constant debate and haggle over the matter.

  not a week goes by without one side starting a fight with the other, then the other retorts with it's position.

  lots of wordsmiths appear and try to reason above the other persons head, and make naked accusations about an entire class of persons unknown.

  I just want to go on record - that although I have bantered a little bit from time to time within these threads - I really love you all. Atheist, Christian, pagan, Wicken, Buddhist, Jane, Jew, Black, White, Gold or Pink.

  Seriously, though, I agree with the idea that we should all be free to believe how we believe.

  It just seems that Witnesses are less active these days.

  i remember being a teenager and being at friends home on saturdays, and every time you turn around there was a witness knocking at the door.

  my non-witness friends would be nice, and say no, as they did not want to insult me.

  even though, as a teenager, i was not a witnesses (baptized) and did not make a public show of my connection to people outside of the congregation.

  The JWs don't seem to be very active in my area. I've lived at my present residence for almost 6 years and no JWs have called. Looks like I won't get that new tract everyone is talking about.

  Don't worry. Even though you may not get the new tract, I can help you FEEL like you did. First, go stand in front of the mirror. Then turn on a bright light and yell out at the top of your lungs, "I am a stupid schmuch!"

  Can I quote you a year or even 10 years from now? This thought (hope) is timeless.

  I hope I still feel that way in ten years. I just don't see why anyone would go to all the trouble of creating a universe without doing the best job they could creating it. I don't see why an all-powerful being would come up with anything less than THE BEST solution to any problem he chose to address.

  OH oh, here I go again. One of the reasons I hated God for so long was because I BELIEVED the horse-pucky that oozed out of the bg and wt. I fully believed it and I remember praying and asking God why he couldn't come up with a solution that didn't involve so much bloodshed. I remember reading all the diatribes against "christendom" and how blood-guilty they were and then in the very next paragraph they would talk about God's "wonderful" solution - bloodshed on an even grander scale. I hated that horses ass and I still hate him. I'm just finally realizing that the god that suggests those solutions isn't our father. Our father, if we have one and I'm starting to believe again that we do, is called our FATHER for a reason. He isn't called our truent office or our governor, he's our father and I'm sure his solution, when it comes, won't involve the decimation of most of the human race.

  a big thank you to those who created this board and for all the amazing people who post here.. truth be told (no pun intended) i have seen other religious boards out there but never felt compelled to join since i didn't feel qualified to speak one way or the other regarding their beliefs.

  this board is another story.

  i was raised as a witness but never thought so many people all over the world had a similiar past as i did.

  i just talked to my mom (dub) yesterday, which was poorly timed (after there meeting).

  she tells me that the speaker said in his talk that there are two sides in this world - jehovah's side and satan's side.

  if you are not on jehovah's side, then you are on satan's side.
