Daddy wont answer the phone when i call him anymore :(

i called my dad the other day crying and left a message saying daddy i need u pick up i need you and right in the middle, click my step mom (i m guessing) hung up on me.

i also emailed him pretending to be my husband several times and he always answered before, im so scared for him .

hes bi polar like my brother who died two years ago from suicide.

Hey Messy: What a terribly alarming situation you are in! You must feel so helplesss. If I might make a suggestion, I know that our pastor always takes a day to go visiting in the hospital, and if you were able to connect with a pastor in your Dad's hometown, maybe he would accept a visit from him?? I know that might be hard to accept if he is still a JW, but you never know if it could help...If this seems plausible, then PM me and I'll try and find a name for you to call.

Or, could you call one of the congregation elders and ask them to please live up to their biblical mandate of visiting the sick...

i just picked up this sci-fi movie from the groovie 70's and watched it.

i remember that it kind of disturbed me when i was a kid.

it was about a closed society that automatically kills everyone at age 30, so they can be replaced by a new baby.

I'm busy patting myself on the back (I'm soooo clever!) because I watched the director's commentary on the movie, and just as I suspected, he parallels the behaviour of those within their society with cult members! Even when Logan and Jessica make it outside and discover the truth (you can grow old, there is a world outside, etc.) the others don't believe them....Sound familiar anyone?

Nudity aside, it was a disturbing look at cult mentality.

Welcome Caine: You are in a tough spot to be sure!

As others have already said, you are in a unique position to do some real research into the roots and management of this religion. YOU must be sure that it is true, you can't keep going along with it just because you were raised that way.

Do you mind if I ask how old you are--do you still live at home or is there some space between you and your parents?

There are lots of others who have experienced the same things that you are going through--don't be afraid to share here on the forum. There are some that have left religion altogether, but there are others who still have a strong relationship with Jevovah and with Jesus, still follow the Bible, etc. but as it really is, not as the WTS nitpicks and twists it apart like the Pharisees.

As far as your DF goes, if you have confessed to the Lord, then you are forgiven in His eyes. What the WT is doing is to punish you beyond what is written in the Scriptures.

For those who haven't seen the movie, it is quite a disturbing picture of a futuristic society based on free love with death at 30. It is rated 14A for some brief nudity but the language is fine.

on speaking engagements at kingdom halls throughout the country, fathers would sometimes even offer up their daughters in marriage to him because of the prestige of his position, he said.. have any of the gals here experienced this?

did your parents 'parade you' around visiting bethelites or try to set you up with them?

I don't know if I can fault parents for wanting to see their children find spritual mates, after all, that is what I hope for too.

However, it seems that the standard is a bit mixed up in the WT. Who really would be a good marriage partner? What kind of provider will they be? Is there love for God sincere or just a show put on for others? What about all the other qualities that need to be present? It seems like JW parents sometimes settle for the wrong qualities.

I just picked up this sci-fi movie from the groovie 70's and watched it. I remember that it kind of disturbed me when I was a kid. It was about a closed society that automatically kills everyone at age 30, so they can be replaced by a new baby. But some don't want to die and so they become runners who try to leave and find sanctuary. Logan is a runner who manages to leave and finds that once outside the society no longer has the same life and death hold on him. It made me think about parallels to the WT: people not questioning what they are being taught as the truth, not allowed to leave, hunted for doing so, finding that life outside the org is very different from what they thought.

Here is an interesting converstation (dedicated to all those trying to tell others the truth about "the TRUTH":

Logan sleeping - Jessica (Logan's gf) and Old Man (they have met him on the outside) in a spirited but soft conversation in a far corner.

As Logan wakes he hears:

OLD MAN
Of course...that's settled then. But just you remember your promise...

JESSICA
We'll remember. But that's a long time off...

She sees Logan awake and listening, crosses to him, smiling. Logan rises to her.

LOGAN
What are we promising him? What can we possibly give him?

JESSICA
He asked if we would bury him when his time comes.

LOGAN (beat)
We can't. We're going back.

JESSICA
To what?

LOGAN
I'm going to try and tell people what we've seen and--

JESSICA (interrupting)
You're lying! You'll never have the chance to tell anybody anything!
You'll be killed the moment you're seen!

LOGAN
Do you expect me to let things go on without trying to change them?!

JESSICA
Things won't change...you know that! We can live here together, Logan...
have a life as long as his... together!

LOGAN (showing his palm)
Things change!

JESSICA
You want to go back to kill, is that it?! Now, you'll want to kill your own!!! kill Sandmen!!! Killing's all you ever...!!!!

Logan shakes Jessica who is becoming hysterical.

LOGAN (softly)
Jessica...listen to me...listen to me...(as she quiets down) The Lifeclocks made me kill
Francis. They make people die or be killed every day. If I didn't try and destroy that...I couldn't live here or anywhere. Do you understand?

JESSICA
I want to be alive and with you, that's all I want.

Logan puts his arms around her.

i liked lyman swingle (governing body member)......he knew when to curse at the right time.

i think, thats why i went to him, when i was having so much trouble with debbie's parents.......he seemed "cool" and down to earth.............he might have been bit of a racist though.. one time a self righteous (known as sr) new boy, went to him and complained about what he heard in the bindery..........."brother swingle" the kid said "i heard some brothers cursing, in the bindery!

The first Apostate I ever saw...........was "Mr Frog"...........We called him that, because he always wore a green suit. He would stand in front of the 124 building, just before lunch, screaming at the top of his lungs, on the evils of Knorr and the organization........with 100's of Bethelites walking pass him. We hated......that guy. Some friends of mine wanted to beat him up, but we knew, if we were caught, there would be hell to pay.

"MARKED" as undesireable association because of college

"i" who was marked as someone bad to associate with simply because i wanted to make enough to support my family and the approved professions (which our congregation was already saturated with) of window washers, carpet cleaners, janitorial services, and siding and window replacement workers did not appeal to me.

If these morons who supposedly have God's spirit, would have had age appropriate education for younger ones, then kids wouldn't have fallen asleep and needed to be spanked or reprimanded during meetings!!
Of course if they had taken psychology in college they would have known about stages of human growth and developement and that children are not miniture adults and thus shouldn't be treated as such. oh..that's right...I went to college ...they did NOT!!
If they had catered to young ones more when they were children, there wouldn't be an exodus OUT of the org the minute they turned 17, 18 etc and had the opportunity to leave.

I have never understood why they don't understand that children need age appropriate spiritual education. Do they not trust themselves to give it? Often it is a part of cult behaviour to separate children from parents but the GB seems to have forgotten to read that page in the manual.

As a "study" I like to stop the JWs when they start using the borg-speak and ask "What on earth does that mean????" and "That sounds so wierd, what is that?" They don't even realize what they sound like, I'm sure.

a couple favourites:

"a talk"--what is that, a lecture or a sermon?

"my fleshy sister"--you have got to be kidding!

"Jehovah's loving arrangement"--that's why you kick people out of the organization?

"Christendom's false teachings"--you mean, the one's that I believe, and you are going to sit in my home, eat my cake and say this to my face?
