That sounds like a really FABULOUS idea, Jeff!! In my opinion, the more that exJWs get the word out, the better prepared people will be when they get a knock at the door. There are some really good resources and other ministries out there, and a great place to connect would be at the WNFJ connection, since many of them go there and share information. McGregor Ministries also has some interesting DVDs about the WTS (A Non-Prophet Organization, The Jesus of the WT).

I think that Mouthy would be an excellent person for you to connect with, and if you guys would like to come to Ontario for a visit, we would be glad to have you stay with us.

The thing is, if the depression is being caused by feeling that you aren't doing enough, you never will be able to do enough! The WTS teaches a religion of "works" but if you study your Bible without the WT glasses on you will find that there is nothing we can do to earn our salvation (Ephesians 2). It has already been done for us by Christ's death! What could be possibly add to that supreme act that would have merit in God's eyes? There is no one righteous. All our works of righteousness are like filthy rags (or used menstrual pads, to quote the unpoetic NWT) in Jehovah's eyes. Once we have accepted him as our Saviour, then we are motivated by love to do good works to show our faith (James).

You have a unique opportunity to open your eyes to the truth of the lie of the WT Society...get out while you can!

i have been told to study this book with a sister so that i may can be indoctrinatedadjusted according to bullshitaccurate knowledge.. i dont have this book, nor do i remember reading it, or studying it, just wanted a head's up from those of you who may have it, or know where i can read a copy of it online...any help is really appreciated.. thank you in advance!.

the closest, i came to getting hurt while at bethel was in the summer in 1972, at the allentown pa district convention.

i think its name was "the divine endurance" .

I thought I was growing a bit calloused after reading so many posts about the lives that are ruined by the WT Society, but I find myself feeling sick to my stomach about the story of Jimmy. It is really heart-breaking, and then I think of all the lovely little toddlers I see running around at the Kingdom Hall and I think what an awful future awaits them if they are raised in this cult...

having read posts over the last few months, i have come to the conclusion that there must be alot of 'active' jw's who still regularly attend meetings/field service etc.. don't you feel that by posting your many and varied topics, usually complaining/disagreeing with the wbts, that you are being hypocritical?

when you post your information, obtained sometimes in an questionable manner, doesn't it make you question your own underhanded actions?.

you converse with many on this forum who are disfellowshipped/dissasociated, yet if you knew who these ones were, face to face, you would not give them the time of day!

Coping, and healing, is much easier when you open your heart and seek to understand why others do what they do and say what they say, rather than interpreting what they are saying as somehow being hypocritical. Closing the heart delays healing.
There are many paths to the top of the mountain. What would be the benefit if I reached the top of the mountain (in this case the mountain being the goal of leaving the Borg never to return), but then tried to knock others off who reached the top of the mountain because I didn't like the path they took, or how long it took them to reach the top? I only want them to reach the top, no matter how they do it, and I will hold my hand out to anyone that needs it to step up. If some need to stay in because of family, or because they still agree with GB on some issues, it really does not bother me. If they are here, they are in the right place.

Exjwdub: This is a lovely analogy, thank you for putting it so succinctly. From my reading on cultic involvement, leaving the organization is not the end of the journey, but a step along the way to healing. After the grieving, the anger and the guilt needs to come understanding (why did I choose to join, why did my parents raise me this way?), acceptance (I cannot change what has happened in the past but I can move forward), and yes, even forgiveness (I forgive those who act towards me according to the way that they have been taught, believing in error that they are following the truth)...easier said than done, and I do not make this statement lightly. However, as you said so beautifully, we need to help each other get to the top of the mountain!

Hmmmmm...........God's grace.................seems like a foreign concept to the JWs. It turns Jehovah into a different sort of diety than the one you would find in the pages of the WT.

In my studies with JWs I have also found many many mistranslations in the NWT--in those "big" passages but also some in seeming irrelevant places, and yet...........when you find a cross reference later in the Scriptures, it becomes apparent that a doctrinal or behavioural bias (theirs) has caused this mistranslation. If someone starts a thread, I will be tempted to post.

As a Bible-believing Christian, you will find others of like mind, including marriageable young ladies with high moral standards, in Bible believing churches. Find one that has a singles ministry or college and careers gatherings. Maybe you'd enjoy a social outing with them or an inhome Bible study? Take it slowly and make friends, don't be afraid to tell them that you have been in a cult. They will probably be very supportive and understanding. Believe me, what you have been told about the other churches aka Christendom has not been the truth.

You may eventually get to the point where you feel ready to try a service. The Baptists, in my experience, tend to be quite serious about Bible study, if that is what is of interest to you. Of course, every congregation is different since they generally are locally governed, instead of by a hierarchy. The major difference is that those outside the org believe you can have a personal relationship with Jesus, and that has been denied to all those JWs who are not of the 144,000.

I love the fact that there is freedom on this board to do the research, ask the questions, make the comments that would NOT be allowed at the KH or with the Elders. This is a really, really important step to understanding the true nature of the WTBS.

i just picked up this sci-fi movie from the groovie 70's and watched it.

i remember that it kind of disturbed me when i was a kid.

it was about a closed society that automatically kills everyone at age 30, so they can be replaced by a new baby.
