Pioneering !
by iknowall558 inquestion :.
why is 'pioneering' a 'privilege' when every jw goes out in ministry anyway.
even those who have lost privileges, or been disciplined, or been reinstated after being disfellowshipped are still expected to go out in the ministry.

Pioneers get prestige (mostly, as long as they agree with the elders on everything). It's a title. It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but they continue to act like it does. Idiots.
Pioneering, and the promotion of it, is a large contributing factor to the self esteem problems of many in the congregation. You would like to think you are doing all you can to serve Jehovah, and you do your best, but only pioneers can be examples. Everyone else is just along for the ride.

Local needs are at the discretion of the local body of elders. I can imagine myself as an elder being concerned about it from a JW elder point of view. Of course, it is harmless, but not to JW's, who want to limit the amount of outside contact anyone can have with "outsiders".

Four die out in service in Texas
by TJ - iAmCleared2Land ina real tragedy here yesterday; regardless of our feelings about the religion itself, we lost some good friends and genuinely nice people yesterday; these were some of "the good ones"--why is it always them??.
http://www.wfaa.com/news/local/accident-80138632.html.
southlake four people died saturday after their car flipped over into a six-foot-deep pond in southlake, police said.. just before 11:20 a.m. saturday, the toyota sedan drove through the intersection of lonesome dove road and burney lane, crashed into a metal fence, hit a tree, and landed upside-down in a pond on the grounds of a mansion.. "they came through this stop sign and, from eyewitness accounts, they never slowed down," said neighbor byron copeland.. copeland said the residents of the property raced to try and help.

It's a tragedy. I hope the families find peace. And regardless of the fact that the religion itself is a lie, I hope that particular congregatioin shows some humanity and reaches out to them.

Today's my birthday. I am 35. Still no gray hair. Still somewhat of a smartass...
I have to say, I have no idea what these years have in common. Tennessee huh... Does this have anything to do with the Gores? Andrew Jackson and his descendents? Jack Daniels?

How to Deal With Boy Conflicts?
by sweet pea in.
just wanted some input on a dilemma a friend is having.. her son was punched the other day in the privates by one of his best friends (they are 8 years old) - the parents are best friends too.
the son now doesn't want to see the other boy and the whole situation, especially the way the other parents are dealing with the matter (not making the boy apologise in person), is putting a serious strain on all the relationships.. what would you do in this situation?

Sometimes, events cause relationships to thrive or fizzle out.
It may be that the best option is to do nothing. Explain to the child what is going on and why. If either kid is uncomfortable in the others presence, then that is all that is needed. A decision has been made by the most important person.
In time, (esp considering that the kids are 8) things may change. I would avoid overreacting. Some time apart and some time to cool down isn't overreacting.
Besides, if the other kids parents won't help their child to apologize, you have a great head start with this particular family. You know and understand some limits from the future.
If I were the parent, I would sit down with the other parents, say that our friendship is fine, that these things happen, and that you have decided not to force anything. Wish them well, and go to Burger King.
or...
If you feel an apology is in order, then sit down and explain why. If the other parents are adamant that no apology is forthcoming, then the only decision to make is to what extent you can associate with this family without sending mixed signals to your kids. They trump old friendships.
