Best statement a householder made to get you to leave them alone.
by Esse quam videri inknocked on a door on a saturday morning.
a window opened on the floor above me.
a grizzled old man stuck his head out and said, " we're all heathens here!

Having JW's at your door is like shooting fish in a barrel. It's open season for the sarcastic.
I've been told to "f*ck off" more times than I can count. I've been told if I don't repent, I am going to hell. I've had dudes in velvet shorts and wigs come to the door with their outdoor plumbing exposed. I've had women do the same thing trying to fluster me. (sometimes that worked....)
Oh well. I've said "No thank you I am not interested' to the only two JW's who came to my door. (teenagers of course...) I personally can't act like a jerk to those that might not do the door knocking if they knew any better...

My take is that this solves the following elder problems:
There aren't as many elders anymore, so why stress them out? As others noted, this was never done with any regularity even when I was an elder. With so much to do and fewer numbers than ever doing it, why not keep elders fresh for parroting what is in the latest WT from the platform?
With the information age in full bloom, elders are going to run into more "apostates" than ever. Some could absolutely have their
faith shakenbelief system shattered by facts. Why not pick the low hanging fruit of a lonely desperate soul who comes to the KH asking how they can return? The GB knows that there are some smart former JW's who could mess up what's left of their internal control structure. No need to expose them to the possibility of real information. -

How Old Was Eve When She Was Tempted?
by berrygerry inhas this question ever been answered by wt or biblical apologetic?.
if near the beginning of her creation, would she not have had the effective development of a a toddler or even a baby?.
if so, would you sentence a toddler or a baby to death for grabbing an appealing candy from a bowl?.

Echoing Blondie, at Gilead they showed a time line of what GB 1.0 thought as to their relative age.
GB 1.0 (that really means Freddie Franz of course) filled in major gaps by counting backwards from 607 BCE and other JW established dates, which slip my memory at the moment. From there, they came up with some date as to when Adam was created, (4__7 BCE???) and then 30 years later, Eve was created after Adam named all the animals and such. 2-10 days later, s*it happened, and we are all still paying for it.
I think this is in the old SI book somewhere. It's starting to be too long for me to remember the little details...

The confirmation bias on most everyone's comments on this topic is thick.
All or nothing will be the death of us all

Simon, I've had my say and I appreciate it. I disagree with you. They don't lie. If they frame stories and characters within those stories in a way you disagree with, that isn't a lie. They don't make stuff up.

To clarify, the stories that the traditional news media reports on are based on facts, not rumor or innuendo. Unless that is Fox News carrying on their Obama is a Muslim/Kenyan born national bull.
Current stories about Trump's ties to Russia comes from Government Intelligence Agencies. I realize that some of you think Trump was elected to piss off the media. I thought he was elected to run the country. The dude needs to stop campaigning and start governing, if he knows how to do that...

littlerockerguy, missing the point.
My point is the basic day in and day out stories, especially where politicians and presidents are concerned, the stories on their merits are factual.
Brian Williams also lied about something that happened to him personally, not the stories that he reported on.

Because the JW's are in reality a well organized sales and marketing organization, I learned all aspects of how to participate in and run one.
