  local elder stops by for a casual visit

  first of all, i never believe that any visit by an elder is truly casual.

  this particular elder was one of my closest friends from the time i first met him in the lobby of bethel during a tour, to the time he moved here from uk, to the time i left his congo.

  i posted elsewhere that he once came by the house and said "is there anything i can do to help you come back to the kh?

  There is no accidental elders visit. True that. Nicely done. Because of your "training" you will of course be a target. Don't be surprised by anything, but don't worry about it too much either. It's just the way it is.

  There is nothing to do with indoctrinated bible zombies. The just keep coming forward without blinking.

  Where to appropriately focus and direct our anger (and more importantly - how)

  this is a tangent from another thread where angry responses to jws was a side-topic.. my opinion is that it is important to remember that the rank and file jw is a victim of the cult and that focusing our anger on any of them individually is doing them a disservice for two reasons:.

  1. their behavior, thoughts, and feelings are not their own and are only informed by the borg.

  it isn't just or appropriate to attack those who are victims just like many of us were.. 2. opposition, especially angry opposition, reinforces the false information that the borg has indoctrinated in them: that one of the proofs they have "the truth" is that they are persecuted.

  I agree with you Mad Sweeney. In rare cases, boisterous and demonstrative works, but for overall achievable, slow and steady wins the race.

  Not wanting to minimize the phrase "throwing up a little in my mouth", but I did, if only for the memory of giving that damn talk, and others.

  All the glazed over eyeballs nodding their heads as you read scriptures that barely apply. Hell I didn't understand a lotof what was in those talks, and I bet a lot of elders don't to this day either.

  Oh well, back to my Public Talk purge... Terry, you are old too dude.... ;)

  if you don't, a group of aliens take on human bodies and pose as a family on earth.

  they try to fit in but get things wrong and hilarity ensues.. yesterday my family celebrated easter.

  What if heterosexuality was somehow condemned by a religious group, and hate crimes were a result? How long before a backlash?

  Hate speech is hate speech. When you call sexual preferences "abominations" and religious hatred is attached to it, it is more then free speech. It incites crimes against minorities.....

  This is akin to defending the use of the word n*gger as free speech when it is in fact a slur toward African Americans that clearly has resulted in the harm and death of thousands of African Americans over the last 150 years.

  Dr Laura is a hateful homophobe. I applaud the open letter, it more then proves the point.

  posters here talk about the "do more" pushiness in the organization and that is so true!

  elders just assume that you want to carry microphones and work your way up the spiritual ladder to that blissful state of total immersion in "kingdom matters.

  All it is is work to be done. How do you trick people to clean toilets for free? To mow the lawn? Tell them its a privilege, and attach the core cult work as the key determining factor.

  Yup, to qualify to clean toilets or mow the lawn, you have to be "regular" in FS each month.

  At a 2 day assembly ...the point that the brother spoke about that drove me mad....."don't hug your husband, wife or child during prayer".

  i attended one day of a two day assembly and did ok until the very last talk.

  the brother was from bethal and well jw's pay closer attention to their talks, cause that is when some new info is given,,,right.

  well anyways i lost focus and began to daydream, cause it became one of those talks that just talks about wasting time.

  Don't worry, in a year, another WT will come out saying that the flock misconstrued the article, and it will all be the flocks fault. At that time, married folk will be able to fondel their partner, because the next rule will be "KEEP YOUR EYES CLOSED DAMMIT AND YOU WON'T SEE ANYTHING!!!"
