do you have any evidence that the gb had bad intent?

as opposed to blind faith/cognitive dissonance and honest mistakes.. i'm inclined to think they have the best of intentions and are just wrong (primarily because the bible is wrong), but i'm willing to consider the evidence otherwise..

Hi there. This piqued my interest so I thought I’d deposit an opinion you can flush. ;)

Does it matter if they’re cynical or delusional? Not to me. In my years out, I’ve bumped into the problem of belief. I’ve learned we can trick ourselves into believing anything that makes us feel good and purposeful. It doesn’t matter to us if our beliefs may or may not hurt others

If you read CoC I think you’ll see that some are cynical. Even Knorr wasn’t sure if 1914.

I was at Gilead a long time ago and met the then existing GB. I can only provide my anecdotal opinion that most of the GB believes their own bullshit about being “chosen leaders”, and it is highly likely that they know a lot of their prophecies are false. As a result, they are in CYA mode. They also are likely consumed with paying off the sexual abuse survivors which threatens their very financial existence.

I don’t give over-zealous idiot leaders who are suffering through a decades long case of delusions of grandeur any breaks or credit for sincerity.

it's been 12 years since i submitted my resignation letter, and stopped playing by their rules.. in a spurt of manic rationality, i blew up the bridge, sky high.

knowing that the diseased organ would need to be forever removed, away from anything remotely functional in my mind, body, and soul.

lest i be tempted to return.... so, i left.

Can we ever get our loved ones out?

a post on another thread got me to thinking and writing.. should we even be trying to get our loved ones out of jehovah's witnesses?.

when a person truly believes in their belief system, or even if they don't but have held to that system for a long time, there is nothing we can say that will move them from that system.. why?

perhaps pride.

Hey there Snakes... Long time...

My only thought today is, it has to be about them as much as it is about us. Life isn't fair.

My dad still has a foot in. I imagine it gives him something social to do. Beyond that, if I proved that he is wrong, he is all alone, without the Borg, who does he have?

I would say me, but, that isn't happening. He keeps a fairly robust distance.

Our parents and loved ones still in have dependency issues, and the reward for leaving (value) must exceed the cost for them.

It's ok to leave behind people we have loved, if that is the choice you make. It's ok to be happy without believing JW relatives.

It's ok to forge ahead, and decide to be happy with the new life we choose to have.

Snakes, for you, because I have followed you from the beginning, I want you to get what you want, and I hope you get it. :)

Menrov, that is exactly why I had to move on from the first marriage. The JW infection was too deep and ingrained. I would have had to commit a good chunk of my life to trying to wake her up, and I needed every last spare gallon of gas I had to spare to spend on my recovery.

Blondie, fading is it's own thing. I didn't get it when I first left, but I do now. JW's sniff out inactivity very well, since their noses are so high in the air, but it never helps the feeling it puts in you.

Phizzy, I am happy for you. I hope everyone is able to experience healing on some level, as soon as possible. We all deserve to be happy, and to know ourselves. (and to know that our first name isn't "brother" or "sister" lol)

Our daughter was free to make her own choice.

when eloise dupuis gave birth to her son in 2016, there were complications where a blood transfusion would have saved her live.

however, she refused and died; to the horror of the medical staff and the entire province of quebec.. two years later, there was a change in politics and the topic came back up in the media.

the parents of eloise dupuis, obviously exhausted by the media coverage, wrote a comment to a well known news paper in quebec.

Just a comment, not trying to join the conversation per se...

Let's just reframe the arguement: JW parents want the religious "freedom" to choose and deny life saving medicine to their ill children. Ironically, that choice was never their's. But that is how insidious the GB is. It's their choice, clunking around in your head, while you dream of a paradise in khaki's waiting in line at the Assembly Hall for your child whom you denied blood treatment, to be resurrected. Because without that "hope" no parent EVER does this...

Let that sink in. Because that's the trick.

Any other argument about anything else is crap because A CHILD UNDER THE CONTROL OF A CULT AND CULT LED PARENTS WILL DIE OR PERMANENTLY HARMED.

Whether it's ostracism or straight up bullying, It's still straight up ignorance. At the very least, the Governing Body should disband all HLC's and allow their flock to lie to them about blood. At least they'll be alive...

Legally, the Governing Body has no choice but to triple down. The first admission that someone can take blood, and thousands of dead people who could have lived will be legally on their heads. And there isn't enough property to sell in Brooklyn Heights to pay for that.
