My best is guess is you're right. Sad to say but if my wife wouldn't have gotten pregnant and I decided to look into everything to know wha to teach my son I'd probably not be going but still believing all the BS that they push off on people.

I've seen Garbage 3 times now. Twice back in 96 when they were opening for Smashing Pumpkins (first show was described by Billy Corgan as one of the best the SP ever played and I was in the tenth row on the floor) and once last fall when they were opening for U2. I must say, I liked the show better back in 96 because back then Shirley Manson has nice long red hair and dressed really well. Last year she had very short blond hair and looked like some punk rock chick with a fancy necklace on. Definitely not the turn on she was back then. -

by nativenyr23 inok. just read the thread on the "special talk" today and how they mentioned apostates.. well, that explains why i had such a painful conversation today with my sister-in-law.
she called to let me know that she and her mother had reached a painful decision today....to abide by the shunning rule.
up until today, we had a great relationship....everything was fine.

Do the flyer thing. It'll be fun!!! I know I did similiar things at the local grocery stores before and would watch as JW's walked in after the Sunday meetings, see them, get a horrified look on their faces and rip them down. That was such a blast!!! Of course I'd be waiting nearby with new flyers in hand. I'll also occasionaly go tape "cult." on their front door of the kingdom halls just for kicks. Its not vandelism because I do absolutely no damage. It also gives the JW's a chance to have to get rid of something someone left on their door for a change.
As for making them think they're being persecuted by the evil apostates, so what? Look, those phsycho's are going to think that no matter what you do or don't do anways. At least this way you may actually help someone and even if you don't you'll at least have fun doing it. Who cares about what happens if the people praying for your death are upset by it? -

I'll admit that I am concerned about the number of posts contributed to me. I don't want people to read and think about what I say or anything else like that at all because of the number of posts that I have. If I could absolutely no numbers next to my name, or even no name, that would be GREAT because I want my words to stand on their own and not who said them or how many posts that person has.

The meaning of elbobbo - bad joke. It was just the first thing that popped into my head plus it doesn't sound very serious or anything like that. As I said, I want the words in my posts to stand on their own so if they come from someone who has a rather stupid sounding name all the better because that way I won't be taken seriously because of my name or the number of posts made or the screen name.
Also, thank you Mrmoe. Coming from someone as serious and deep as yourself, who is also a jedi member, that means a lot to me. -

I know what you mean about not wanting your children to grow up around JW's. When my wife got pregnant I wasn't going to the meetings anymore but it was only because I didn't want to be around the assholes in my old congregation (NW Evansville, IN) but still believed most of the doctrines. I thought I should look into the beliefs of the JW's so I could make sure they were right before I taught my son the same things. I quickly found out what a load of crap it all is because of that.

How full of crap are you? You seem to be saying since the government wastes money on other things it should waste it on this too. Do your research (or just watch the evening news) and you'll see this isn't something like a gold plated toilet handle. The amount that this lady who is actually suing some companies for reparations will be asking for isn't a small amount. I can't remember the exact number but I do remember that its considerably larger than the total amount of money made each year in the US by ALL companies. Yeah, let's give all of the money made by many hard working people to one group who didn't get paid for their work over 100 years ago.plmkrzy,
I know what you mean about the various forms of comedy. A white guy making jokes about black people is horribly racist. A black guy making jokes about white people is funny. Somehow that's ok. On shows with primarily white actors blacks get upset because they think there's only a token black person or two. On shows with primarily black actors there may be a token white person on there that is most often portrayed as an idiot and that's funny. If a group set up a scholarship available only to white people there would be outcry. We see ads on TV trying to get people to donate money to the Unite Negro College Fund and that's commendable. There's the Black Entertainment Television (BET) on cable and that's just great but can you imagine what would happen if there was a White Television Company? Since we have Ebony magazine why don't we have Ivory? The NAACP is considered a good thing because it works to advance blacks and is highly regarded by many. The KKK works to advance whites and is considered one of the most evil groups in the US. Here in Indiana you can buy Black Expo license plates to support that group. Where are the white good ol boys license plates? I know in St. Louis at least there are minority job fairs in addition to the normal job fairs for ALL groups. Why is that? Are minorities so out of it they need their own special job fairs where competition is reduced so that they have a better chance of getting a job?
Do I support any of the groups that are so die hard pro-whites? No, of course not. I also refuse to support any of the black groups. Actually, I refuse to support any group that works to promote one race over another because I just can't see how something like that can be good for a community as a whole. When I look at my friends I don't look at them as Shelante my black friend, Ken my gay friend, Theresa my Catholic friend, Shawn my white friend, Greg my rich friend, Juan my Mexican friend, Jamie and Amie (twin sisters) my redneck friends, and Karen my poor friend. I look at each of them as someone I like to spend time with because of the positive traits of their personality that I like. All the petty things like race and social standing are stupid things. I usually don't hang out with all of them at once because their personalities don't mix that well which is fine (hey, I can think of plenty of white people in the same socio-economic standing as me that I can't stand) but that doesn't mean they're bad people.
If all of this idiotic slavery reparations thing does end up going through I can't see how it could possibly turn out well for the country because while black people will be getting some free money for absolutely nothing what so ever, any and all racial tensions will go through the roof. While blacks (I would call blacks african-americans but unless you yourself came from another country you're an american regardless of where your ancestors are from) may think racism is bad now if they EVER do get all the money they're wanting right now for what happened to thier ancestors I can promise that it will 100 times worse than it is now. The greedy people who start these types of lawsuits will only cause more harm than any hope they could ever hope to get. -

Playing along with the idea that he does though, I would have to say yes, he would hear your prayers.
Do you have kids? If you do and you're a decent parent at one time or another they've probably done something to show they love you whether it be a handmade card or drew you a picture or something like that. Will it go up in the Chicago Ar Institute for its brilliant use of colors or win a Pulitzer award for writing? No, because its just some little thing made by a small child. If you're a loving parent you'll treasure those gifts your child may make for you no matter how relatively untalented they may be because your child made it for you as an expression of love. Keeping that in mind, do you think your heavenly father (aka god) really cares how you approach him?
In all honesty though, since I accepted there's no god and all that stuff I've actually been MUCH happier. The JW's and religion in general sell the idea that you need god in your life because they're trying to sell your their version of him. Same as JW's saying that the meaning of life is to serve the great imagination in the sky. Your life is worthless unless you do what they tell you. Speaking from experience life is actually pretty fun when you know that the only purpose in life is to live. -

Wait a little while before your start putting flyers out or do anything else to the KH. Remember, revenge is a dish best served cold. If you do something right away they're going to know who did it. Let them wait and think everything is ok. That way when you finaly do something they won't have a clue where it came from.
